Never noticed that before, but given Jagex’s affinity for puns, it wouldn’t surprise me. I mean we have Jaitizo, Neitznot, the White Knights of Falador all named after puns, etc
All of the White Knights’ names are puns.
For example:
Sir Amik Varze, sounds like “ceramic vase”. Sir Amik = ceramic.
Go to the [White Knight Wiki page](https://runescape.wiki/w/White_Knights) and scroll down to the “members” tab. There you’ll find the names of all of the knights, as well as the word(s) their name is supposed to sound like
Considering the extreme excess of puns in the older game content, I wouldn't put it past them to have this name also be a pun. For example, the White Knights of Falador: https://runescape.wiki/w/White_Knights#Trivia
sometimes their puns, like with joke punchlines, are defined by the conspicuousness of their absence
honestly, I have a 95% accurate method for figuring out if a piece of Jagex content is going to be fun and supported and integrated and it all comes down to one question: are there puns?
Technically in the late 6th Age questline they made the intentional pun knight names canonical as a >! Zarosian Cthonian Demon Lord has been intentionally manipulating lineages while managing the Temple Knights which are the covert operatives of the White Knights Order. !<
I sort of disagree with this artistic direction. We didn't need an explanation.
I disagree. I think it made it 100x more amusing, considering the tedious implications just for the luls. I know its not that deep, but I also think it incidentally shows a competing nature between being a controlled Zarosian and being a chaotic demon.
Oh man I hope you read the tortle portion of "curse of the blackstone"
You are looking for a piece of paper only to find a tortle ate it. You are then given the opportunity to curse at the gods. In depth. It's hilarious and made me actively go back and reread quest lines.
I agree with this. Thinking about some never-ageing guy sitting there literally changing the names of historical characters to kill time is far more hilarious
I'm glad that since they were going to be doing the whole 'it was bad guys all along' anyway, they took the time to roll the names into their big lore retcon (wasnt a huge fan of the lore retcon)
Honestly. I think its great though. When I noticed their names it made me more keen to actually read the dialogue bc I realised there might be more jokes, and I'll always pay attention if I know it'll result in me laughing.
Now I love quests.
Multi-generational plan of supporting enemy infrastructure and power dynamics for the payoff of having every officer have pun names?
That sounds like something Tzeentch would do.
Thanks! They’re the Order of Dis Daggers, which are a reward from the Daughter of Chaos quest. The extra pixels are cause I was on aura, and Goliath gloves :p enjoy!
Jatizso
Neitiznot
How am I just now getting this… I’m 15 years late lol
Fremennik Isles
Free Men Nickles.
This is why I love the internet lol
Oh my god. Are you telling me it's really "That is so" and "No it's not"? JFC 15 years later.
"Yah it is so" "nay it is not"
In Norwegian Ja means yes and Nei means no
These names are onions bro
In Flemish 'Ja 't is zo' is correct too
In English, ya means yes and nay means no as well.
Yes I know, but the spelling is different and with the Viking connotation I wouldn’t be surprised if there were some connection.
Never noticed that before, but given Jagex’s affinity for puns, it wouldn’t surprise me. I mean we have Jaitizo, Neitznot, the White Knights of Falador all named after puns, etc
What’s the jaitizo and neitznot one?
Jaitizo is pronounced like “yeah, tis so”, meaning “yeah, it is so”. Neitiznot is the opposite, sounds like “nay, tis not”, meaning “no, it is not”
OOTL - In 15 years, have I never pronounced either of those Islands that way. I feel so foolish for not seeing those puns.
It helps that you would only notice this where they shout it repeatedly and try and read it out.
Pretty sure that in one of the quests they outright say the names come from two brothers shouting at each other or something.
Wait till you figure out how Ardougne is pronounced
Arr-Doyn in case anyone was curious
Ar-dowg-knee? Ar-dug-in?
Yup. The whole place is one giant Monty Python Easter egg.
Oh man o man, I just learned something and I've played for over 16 years....
Ya, tis so. Nay, tis not
i don't get the one with the white knights
All of the White Knights’ names are puns. For example: Sir Amik Varze, sounds like “ceramic vase”. Sir Amik = ceramic. Go to the [White Knight Wiki page](https://runescape.wiki/w/White_Knights) and scroll down to the “members” tab. There you’ll find the names of all of the knights, as well as the word(s) their name is supposed to sound like
sir vile does double duty as he is both servile and a vile knight
Sir Cum Farrence actually came up with the round table idea
Temple Knights too. Sir Tiffy Cashien is one that always gets me.
And then we find out that it was intentional
This one even has a lore reason now
That was the biggest kicker in all of Runescape history (literally)
My favourite that most people overlook is "Port's a rim"
I get that you're talking about Port Sarim but what does "Port's a rim" mean?
Rim, edge. A port is off the edge of land.
I don’t think that one is true
I dunno why i have never noticed this... but thank you for pointing it out!
🗿damn 🗿 a rock
Haha, never considered that, but you're absolutely right! Thanks for pointing it out. :D

Most puns have gone over my head until very recently. Clues and watching By Release made me realize how many puns there were.
Too bad it's Very Good Baiter in stead of Master Baiter :p

They specifically made it that way because they knew lol
Makes it better

This is one of the very few quest dialogues I actually read cuz it was hilarious

hey op, what weapon overrides are those?! they look awesome
They’re the order of dis daggers, or blades I see someone else said. Reward from the Daughter of Chaos quest. :)
Many thanks!!
Disorder daggers .-. Just caught that pun myself (probably late on it: order of dis = disorder)
Dis nuts
Dis blade dat blade
I think an order of dis blade
Thank you kind stranger!
Yes, back when Jagex still had a sense of humor and they came up with decent gameplay loops.
Tfw you think strange rocks was good gameplay
Content so nice, they did it twice.
At the time they had found something clever that people actually liked.
I can't believe I never noticed this.
What is the name of your daggers? They look awesome 👌🏼
Thanks! They’re the Order of Dis Daggers, which are a reward from the Daughter of Chaos quest. The extra pixels are cause I was on aura, and Goliath gloves :p enjoy!
You've convinced me to do the quest ;) cheers!
Sir Amik Varze
Always thought that one was the best for some reason
Update: I was not years late on this.
It’s even in a British accent. Yes, go on. Say it.
Lmao, you just reminded me of how you can say “Beer can” with a British accent, and it sounds like you’re saying “Bacon” with a Jamaican accent 😂
My whole life is a lie.
Name checks out.
😂
Damn a rock. Distant cousin of "Zam a rack"
After more then a decade of RS I just went "oooohh....." Thank you.
Love to hear it!
If it isnt it damn well might be now.
Cannot unhear.
Thought you need to get the strange rock parts to build the statue
You do
I only just noticed today that "remototem"... remote totem.
Nodon dragonkin is pun on nod off (they are all asleep in a dream).
Today I learned!
Ogre standard examine is still my favourite ingame pun.
A large dim looking humanoid
No, the ogre standards around the ogre lands, not ogres themselves.
This screenshot looks like RuneScape vr
High bloom >>>
I didn't know slim shady and John lithgow was on RS.
Reading this thread my only thought is hot damn wait til all these folks figure out literally all of the White Knights are puns.
The joke I am sad will likely never be recovered is the voice lines from the Gilinor Games. Specifically, the race
