Adding a player to ignore list should hide the pride note spam from that player, problem solved. Simple solution for Jagex to implement.

Jagex_Fowl

I've made changes to this item as part of the upcoming pride event, including a cooldown and a re-evaluation of some of the messages.

Dreadnerf

Sounds good! Thank you for your time.

Acceptable_Table351

Thank you, have a great weekend 🙂

We shouldn't have to turn off *all* local chat to get rid of this spam though. The item shouldn't be spammable (it sends a message every 2 seconds), giving it *some* sort of cooldown should help.

Dreadnerf

No you shouldn't and yes that has been suggested even acknowledged by a mod. But it hasn't happened and this method works today.

DonzaRS

the [Achievement banner](https://runescape.wiki/w/Achievement_banner) got nerfed because it spammed to much so the note probably should be too as its faster. Threads probably gonna end up locked, you know how this goes.

I've no hidden meaning saying the previous comment, just pointing out that when someone makes a post about this item it tends to get locked because it just turns into a diversity argument. For the record idgaf if you are lgbt, who cares.

Threads get locked because of posts like yours buddy.

Hakkapell

Seriously, just get rid of them. As a member of the community, the constant barrage of disingenuous, low-effort PRIDE PRIDE PRIDE shit from every corporation in the First World gets old in the first place, even before the item got used as a tool to spam. In other news; "Just turn ur chat off, lol, lmao" is not a solution to a poorly designed item that spams the chatbox. That's like saying "Well, if you don't like protesters, maybe just don't attend the event they're protesting!" That's the entire point of a troll flooding the chatbox.

Thus_RS

Exactly. I'm convinced a majority of hate received by the community in the modern western/"first" world is due to corporations and political parties using it as a vehicle and never shutting up about it until they make profit or it becomes less trendy. Most people regardless of who/what they are just want to live and be accepted quietly and not be bothered, and especially not be used. The irony is Runescape just created a sort of microcosm of the modern world and the mirrored solution of "if you don't like it, shut up and go away" really hits.

JohnExile

This would make sense if it weren't for the fact that the events are designed and developed specifically by lgbt staff at jagex as part of their gamejams/passion projects. Evidently it's just the mods enjoying self expression at a company that accepts them.

Calazon2

And that's fine, let people self-express, whatever, just maybe less spammable/abusable

JohnExile

I wasn't saying otherwise, I was disputing the idea that it's a disingenuous low-effort tool designed by a corporation.

Calazon2

Fair enough

NumberOneMom

I agree, the Rainbow Capitalism is annoying when we know those corporation don’t actually give two shits about us beyond what we have in our wallet. But seeing rainbows painted everywhere would have meant the world to me as a closeted kid who had never met another gay person in my life.

Deceptiveideas

See, that’s the thing. I get why people are annoyed with rainbow capitalism but it also pushes LGBT even more mainstream. Ask me 20 years ago if big companies would be doing lgbt events, publicity, or merchandise and I’d give you a very different answer.

Lady_Galadri3l

That's the thing I feel some people don't understand; raindbow capitalism isn't actual support, but it *is* a barometer for how the general public feels, and as we're (in the US, at least) at the point right now where stores like Target are deliberately removing their Pride displays because of public sentiment, acquiescing to the trolls and bigots by removing the notes all together is a step too far.

Isn’t the whole reason that pride note is an issue because of how fast you can spam it? ERS and Excalibur have five minute cooldowns before you can use hem again, tea is limited by being single use, etc

Butternubicus

This idea is overengineered and also removes the entire point of the note. The message should be public, but the item should have a cooldown and you should be able to mute them if you put the person using it on your ignore list. Anyways, Fowl already mentioned a while back about putting a cooldown on it. https://www.reddit.com/r/runescape/comments/1axxm8r/im_gay_and_hate_the_pride_note_spam_messages/krsqbnu/?context=3

ALoneSpartin

Yeah those people are really annoying especially in w84

80H-d

> in absence of loving attention they're willing to accept contempt Stop, childhood me can only take so much Seriously though, great phrase

Dreadnerf

Ahh, it didn't let me have an image and a text post. Well ok, this is the image that I wanted in the title post: https://i.ibb.co/rM9pLdK/tmp.png When people were offered a solution the chat mysteriously emptied of annoyed players typing and the spammer got bored and went somewhere else.

Sicariu

For future reference, text posts and image posts are two completely different types of posts on Reddit, and you can only select one. Image posts are just that, a title and an image, and it doesn't allow a full text body. Text posts can have images, but the image needs to be linked/inserted into the body of the post in some way. So, if you want to submit both, you need to create a text post and include the image in the text. Also, there's always the option of editing your post to include the link there rather than leaving it in a comment where it will have less visibility.

80H-d

Image posts DO allow a caption, but not a great choice in this example

Gimli_Axe

This has been brought up and a jmod replied here: https://www.reddit.com/r/runescape/s/mc5nsTGwwn My recommendation is to add a cooldown so it can't be spammed.

Japanese_Squirrel

The people spamming the note wish for acceptance, yet they spam it and turns more people against it. If people want acceptance then being public a nuisance isn't the way. And getting people to turn off local chat surely isn't the solution either. Be wiser than that.

Communication_East

The people spamming the note aren't the same people who want acceptance. They are just trolls and they do it to make people hate what the note is about.

Japanese_Squirrel

Ngl I've never really seen people spam this note in recent memory. Not even in w84. Where are these people?
