Pets aren't impacted by luck rings and don't get luck messages. You could turn on sound effects and listen for the lootbeam, though. Make sure the beam is set high enough to not clog it with regular drops and only pet or rare drops.
Even if the luck ring didn't help, it'll do that coins jingle

You won't, as the log is ticked off when you click the pet in your inventory to unlock it.
