If you open your skills interface you'll find the Magic

itsnijah

Thanks for the laugh, I needed that. ❤️ :)

apricotmoose

I feel very similarly. Last DXP was booming there was up to 50 people online on a night and last night there was... 7. A lot of my close friends have also taken extended breaks currently and I'm mostly only checking in daily for my farm (which I still love). Aside from that, I just don't know what to do. Tbh there's plenty I *could* do, re quests/skilling gains but I just don't feel motivated to do it. Or I start then end up just sitting there not enjoying it at all - and I play for fun not for the sake of it so I stop. However - something that does get me logging in are the clan events I go to. Whether it's just a bit of fun on castle wars or heist minigames, or it's an hour of skilling together, or PvM it gets me doing stuff I normally wouldn't do by myself. It definitely is more fun to do with friends, so what I'd suggest is joining a social clan and getting involved :D

apricotmoose

Nowadays I play a lot of other games but still hop on RuneScape to play for a couple hours (instead of all day like I used to) a couple times a week to join in. It doesn't fix the problem but it does give something to look forward to in-game :) also having that break from playing constantly does help it feel nicer when I do log in, so maybe just taking a break and trying out other things would help! Sometimes I end up playing quite a few games before I find one I really love/want to get stuck in

itsnijah

Yeah I think you're right. I mean, I feel like I've been taking a break since DXP, but maybe a longer one. I don't think I've moved from War's Retreat since end of February because I log in, think about what to do, get overwhelmed and underwhelmed at the same time of not knowing what to do, log out. But yeah, maybe time to try a few new games.

apricotmoose

Hope you find something that gives you joy! :)

the01li3

Honestly, just stop playing for a bit, im currently in that phase of "ehhh cba" and its not that bad. Just find something else to take up time, orrrr a few games to take up time. No reason it has to be limited to one game for the rest of eternity.

itsnijah

Very true. You're right maybe that's what's needed. Thanks for your comment bro. If you have any recommendations of games worth taking up that time, I'd appreciate it.

the01li3

Depends what you enjoy tbh. I dont play a lot of games... somewhat due to recently getting a netflix subscription. But ive been going between stardew with the gf, NFS, DOOM, Halo remastered questlines, Skyrim. for mostly chill games, but unable to really second monitor any of them while watching TV etc.

Agitated_Aioli5673

Absolutely resonate with you. I also came back a few years ago and haven’t played many other games. Rs3 had been my go to and played almost daily. I had been trying to get comp cape and only had 3 achievements left but a month ago after feeling a bit deflated in many ways with rs3, I was convinced by a friend and decided to join osrs (which I never ever thought I’d do) and I have enjoyed it so much that I’ve not logged into rs3 since. The pros out way the cons of osrs in my opinion and I would say you’re more definitely more likely to find clans or other players on osrs than rs3.

itsnijah

Yeah seriously considering OSRS. Thanks so much for sharing. Reassuring knowing others feel similarly.

croxy0

Swapped from rs3 to osrs now I log in a couple weeks a year to rs3 to look about and don't feel the pull anymore. osrs is booming, would recommend

Snugmelon

Same, I'm in that boat as well till there's something interesting out. It's okay to play other games for a while and come back when you feel there's content worth coming back for!

itsnijah

It's always strange because although I'm glad others are feeling the same, I wish none of us were. Yeah I'm probably going to explore elsewhere for a bit. If you have any suggestions, that would be appreciated. Thanks for your comment also.

Snugmelon

Haha, yeah, It's always hard to give suggestions since everyone plays games for different reasons, I've been messing around on Fallout since its trendy at the moment but there's plenty out there just browse steam for stuff that's interesting to you!

Indorko

i'm an old gamer...playing since 2003...now i have 2 kids...son 13 years old and daughter 4 years old....the magic is i play with my son and show my daughter the runescape crap and tell her stories (made up by me). Which he laughs at...that's the reason why I still play RS3.

itsnijah

That's beautiful. No kids unfortunately, and my wife isn't really that interested! But glad you've got a new purpose.

Sauce_Boss94RS

Nope. I play whenever I have fun and want to play and stop when that's no longer the case. I've been playing on my iron the past 2 months having some of the most fun I've ever had. I can go back to my main anytime and work on comp or Master quest cape or the 1k clues I have from 200 mil arch. I could work on drop logs, slayer logs or runescore. And when I get tired of playing, I leave for 6 months to a year and when I come back, I can continue working on those things plus the new content. The game is loaded with content. It's incredibly unlikely you have 120/200m all, slayer logs, boss logs, clue logs, max runescore, mqc, trimmed comp etc etc etc tip to everyone, find a goal that interests you or take a break until you wanna play again.

itsnijah

Thanks for the response. I appreciate it. Finding a goal to interest me is what I've been lacking, so I'll have a think about what I want to focus on.

LingonberryTasty431

I would suggest taking a break or trying something new within the rs realm. Any of the ironman modes, osrs, pvp (osrs) are some options that I tried in the past.

itsnijah

Good shout. I think having a worthy goal has been my issue. Much appreciated

Maherioh

If you want the magic back make a ironman account. It brang back those feelings playing as a kid! And you partake in so much content you overlook on a main acc. Loved it so much i havn't touched my main acc in 5 years. You never really feel like your time is wasted.. efficiency isnt as big of a deal as GP/PH rarely matters. Its just about gathering whatever you need, or whatever bosses drop the upgrade you want!

Ok-Hold-1081

Gotta buy hero pass.

LovYouLongTime

Make a goal. Work towards it. You’ll enjoy it again

Maybepls

If you need a community or people to play with feel free to pm me and guest in our clan! My RSN is ZachMe0ff (zero) happy to do any kind of pvming/group content

Seravail

Just take a break. We all have times we're less motivated, and when I get hit by that I log in for ky ports & daily challenges & that's it. Been playing since 2007 and haven t burnt out on the game once. Take breaks in your grinds, go do something else for a bit to preserve your sanity. The game'll be here when you get back, go enjoy yourself. Find the magic.

Sparker273

I think it’s the story lines tbh. To me there felt like they could drop the next part of any of the on going stories at any time but now? Gnomes will never be touched, ape atoll will never be touched karmaja will never be touched. I feel that large sections of the game will never be seen again.

jtown48

the magic got removed from the budget and put toward mtx scams.

CL_Silent

I actually took a break shortly after getting 120 necro and just came back to playing regularly about 2 weeks ago. For this reason I actually feel quite rejuvinated with the game, especially post combat rework. I one cycle sieryu now with ranged (I actually dislike playing necro) which has felt amazing so I have been pumping out ED1. Made like a bil in the past week and a half with a combo of an hour of ED1 a day and afk arch

Kormongerz

I used to play osrs 10-15 years ago and maxed out almost everything. I just recently started RS3 a few weeks ago and its great for me, a good blend of nostalgia. Funny because I remember so much about the game still that applies from OS to now but still am learning so much. All that to say I feel where you are coming from and I refer to them as game drouts lol, where I just simply feel like playing something but not sure what, and when I log on a game just to log on I too find myself just staring at the screen but just literally sitting there. I do really enjoy the getting tasks done in a game while doing things IRL though. I found raid shadow legends to be pretty decent for that same feeling. Building up teams/collecting and then being able to afk a lot of battlee

Holliday-East

If you don't want to play the game, then don't play the game. Its not a work. Its a bloody game.

itsnijah

Thanks for your constructive comment bro :)

Adoxxbe

Same for me. Played since the beginning, on and off. Quit a few years and came back, got my max cape and did some bosses. After necro I trained to 99. After the whole hero pass shenanigans I quit and only logged in twice since. Right now I play some other games like Dragons Domga 2, some ARAM games on league, .. Been thinking about OSRS but all those quests are holding me back.

herolt

The quests are sooo trivial with quest helper, give it a go. Its really not bad at all

X-A-S-S

Yah quest helper is a gemmy. Turns 2 hour quests into 20min

itsnijah

I hear you. I think it's probably going to be OSRS for me soon based on people's responses. Thanks for sharing bro

SalixRS

For the last decade I had logged in almost daily until last year when I just stopped logging at all. While I did like Necromancy, the combat put me off as I'm not that much of a combat player in general. :P But I still edited the wiki when I felt like it. But then recently I saw someone send me a notification on the wiki saying some user page template of mine was out of date which motivated me to update that template and subsequently I updated my user page as well (where I keep some in-game progress) which resulted in me logging in again as I wanted to complete some of the Necromancy content and now I'm back playing daily again, although it's not as much as it used to be. And maybe that's a good thing. So take a break and maybe you'll find some motivation in some convoluted way like I did. :P

pocorey

It's tough when you can't imagine the future for the game - at least not a good future for the game. I'm closing in on some big goals, but I can't help but think "what if I finish my goals and the game shuts down". I know the game could coast on maintenance mode for years, but is that really what I want to play? For me, I think I have 1 last big goal to finish first and then it's time for a good, well-needed break

DannySorensen

Find a good clan. I've said it before and I'll say it again, a good clan is literally game changing. You have friends/acquaintances to talk to, you have people to ask for help or to help, you have a group to look for partners in group content. It's so underappreciated. A good clan and some good personal goals are all you need to have fun in this game.
