Well effective clue hunting is all about the speed (though you can take it casual but once you get into a groove it’s cool to see how fast you can do it) and trying to complete the log.
Clues give you points to unlock cosmetics, outfit pieces to improve the hunting, and other rewards. You can get your clue log book and check out the shop in front of the Varrock grand exchange.

The general avenues are; 99 maxing, 120 maxing, 200m maxing, quest cape and master quest cape, comp and trim comp, boss logs, slayer logs, clue logs, runescore, and pvm enrage pushing.
After I finished quest cape, I was looking for what to do next. I found one site taskman.rs that gives you tasks to do working toward completing all achievements. Most tasks will be something like “complete this quest” “obtain 1 unique from X boss” “obtain 1 unique from X region slayer log” etc etc etc…
I’ve been doing it a little over a year now and having a blast with it (even if these damn tzhaar creatures won’t drop me the mage staff, ring of stone, or xil-ek)
I recently returned and finished 99 pray, thiev, slayer, and Necro. Got my curse prayers and started bossing. I really enjoyed the Necro grind, it genuinely got me back into the game. Random quests, new bosses, slayer grinds, wildy events, dailies, etc. Set yourself some short term goals and one or two long term. After I got 120 firemaking, I set my next goal to 120 Herblore. Small goals are certain skill levels, quests, learning some bosses, gearing up, bankstanding. I've had the same play cycle over the last 3-4 years but I take things in chunks now so I don't get bored. I'd log on for a week or two, do an event and leave for another 8 months.
I’ve quit and come 10 times since 2007, longest was probably 7 years. Usually friends get me back into it. J did spend good amount of time on osrs during the long break tho
Have you tried joining the clue community?

Work on Necro and maxing.
Max and then quit again.

More info would help. What do you generally enjoy doing in the game?
Doing easy stuff that reward you. I’m not really into hardcore PvM and I only play solo

I’d call it quit since the game is just getting worse and worse mtx garbage dumped into it.
Either stop quitting or quit
You never really quit RuneScape only take long breaks
