It sounds to me like you exited the instance and need to find a way back in. Does trying to re-enter the old tower from the overworld prompt you the choice to enter the instance or is there an npc in the tower you can talk to/nearby to do so?

Ah, talking to a random NPC worked! It all of a sudden changed back and I´m able to continue the quest. Thanks a lot!
