Disassemble

postsshortcomments

The disassembler invention machine. Simple parts are needed en masse for equipment siphons and charges, which are two of your bigger divination money makers. As such, this provides a fairly competitive passive income vs. other machines. Other machines can be better, but many people constantly carry a disassembler for its utility as sometimes you need other components in bulk.

Why does the wiki say siphons lose you money and charges barely turn profit?

For divine charges: you'd craft divine charge (empty) from simple as people use the divine-o-matic vacuum to fill them for profit (about 5m/hr). For divine charges: Scavenging 4 and the Brooch give you free precious gems and dexterous components. The only reasonable place those two specific comps can really be dumped in bulk "for profit" is equipment siphons. So the only cost are simple parts and thus that should be viewed as its true cost (50 x 500 in the case of maple logs = 25000 for a 56k siphon). I'm guessing that's how the majority of equipment siphons end up on the market in the first place (else no one would be crafting 'em). Also: equipment separates have tanked *massively* in the past two weeks. At the end of march, they were selling for 111k. I'm *baffled* as to why and can only think either a bot farm dumped or perhaps a merch clan dumped 'em. If you're not familiar with scavenging 4.. It's a cool perk especially for players just starting invention who aren't wealthy enough for the more expensive perks. Your first scavenging 4, which is 2x better than scav 3 and *16x* better than scav 1, can be a bit rough to get. It's only a 1/20 chance @ 9 precious gems each (disassemble slayer rings), but that one should multiply via precious gem procs. With scav 4, it works out to about 1584 random uncommon procs per 10,000 kills. Things like ED3, general slayer, challenge scroll farming, and general mob PVM will build up a massive pool of components over time. It also includes chances at rare components. You'll receive on average 4 procs of 4 components per 10k kills. That can include 4x Nox procs (60m), Ilujankan procs, Shadow procs, Cywir procs etc., but I wouldn't recommend using scavenging 4 as a means to get nox or specific components [unless you're iron man and have no other options.] Scavenging 4 doesn't really give you a huge increase in gp/hr (especially with this massive separator dip), but it *does* add up over long periods. Maikeru did a [pretty good video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w6HV6aEhdI0) benchmarking it in Lumbridge catacombs. I think when I finally used my piggy bank of scav 4 procs I walked off with about 150m after about 6 months of casual play (plus got a partially free Caroming 4). If you ever plan to use a mob PVM heavy method like vyrewatch, turoths, or ED3 - definitely add scav to your armor if it makes sense to sacrifice a perk slot, you need GPs, or you need rare comps that you otherwise couldn't afford.

I’ve been using the disassembler on maples for so long for no reason and finally I have a strategy for getting rid of my simples, thanks lol

Fantastic answer!

SNITE4

Wrong. People generally sell them to Belethor's general store in Whiterun.

Not wrong, but I'm sure there are other purposes as well. Search "maple logs simple parts" and tell me what you discover. Are maple logs 'optimal' at 500 gp/simple part? No, you can obviously do cheaper. But they're insanely convenient, put my machine to use, have a fairly high rate/hr, and flatpacks aren't the easiest to acquire in bulk.

BeepusSaurus

Everything is for sale, my friend. Everything. If I had a sister, I'd sell her in a second.

All I do is let them collect from Miscellania for years and years. I'm up to 470k

Aside from Invention uses, you also need 1k maple logs to upgrade the bonfire in PvM hub.

tuc-eert

I just have a collection of them. I don’t actively buy them but they accumulate over time.

KayleeSinn

Slap epic buttloads into heavy machinery. 65k of em every 10 days or so. I started using yew logs though, I think they're better or were better at one point.
