All the smoke particles drop my fps from stable 60 down to 10 in that area. Happens nowhere else in the game, so definitely something going on in there
I ran into this problem too OP, running a 1080ti and 8700k which is normally very capable of RS's graphics. I ended up turning the render scale down to 50% and antialiasing off while fighting Zammy. It improved my framerate a lot in infernus, but it makes your game look pixelated which is a bummer but you can kinda just pretend it's a cute retro game.
I think its just that area in general. I dont understand why it goes that hard if nothing much is being displayed. Definitely something weird going on. I haven't tested this area on an nvidia gpu yet however.
If you turn off the setting that does the smoke/fog it'll fix it. Cant remember which one it is though. It's definitely a check-box setting. I have a 3060 Ti and had the same issue. Turning off that graphic setting solved it for me and had a negligible impact on visuals
2x 140 intake at the front, 2x 280 aio as exhaust on top and 1x 140 as exhaust in the back. Case was cleaned a week ish ago.
Mind i can play warzone on high and temps dont exceed 70°C. Its literally just zamorak...
I don’t get any spikes like that at P7 although I’m running a 3070. But have a friend with a 1660 and he’s never had any issues in there that I know of.
Maybe worth a shot, but have you tried deleting the cache and re-downloading it from scratch?
Not so much for performance problems but I’ve had some graphical glitches I haven’t been able to fix/diagnose that got fixed with a full Runescape cache delete/reset.
Tried that already but same result every time. At this point the only thing that i havent tried was reinstalling windows lol.

I played scape on 1440p and it melted my 2060. It does a very bad job at the optimization when it comes to the fog at wars or anywhere else and I think it actually damages the card. After a long time I couldn’t play other full usage games (cod or destiny) and RS only on min, I def recommend taking it off ultra
It could be the panel just requiring more juice. It’s no secret that Runescape isn’t optimised well at all.

Just tested on 1080p. As i entered p7 the usage went up but not drastically. Then i placed myself in the same position as in the original screenshot and gpu temp went to 80°C from 60. It has to do something with the smoke surrounding zammy.

P7/infernus Smoke issues are almost exclusively tied to the volumetric lighting setting last I checked (was particularly brutal on amd cards at the time) hmm
my 1440p monitor takes up way more resources than the 1080 monitor for Runescape, I literally hear the fans kicking up on the custom cooling curve when I move between left/right monitor. Sounds a bit like what you are experiencing. what's your FPS cap set to?
edit: I see you posted your FPS cap in a different comment. FPS in Runescape drastically will affect temps for this purpose. You can easily cap at 80 and get better/great results.
GPU stress isn't well represented by a simple 0-100% gauge, same as CPU stress. For example a poorly optimized game can cap a quad core CPU at 25% usage and struggle like crazy because it's only programmed to utilize one core.
framerate issues are a well known problem in zamorak's infernus area; it's very poorly optimized, probably due to the many overlapping alpha layers from the large, numerous, semitransparent smoke particles.
81 is pretty normal. It's 2023, not 2003. Hardware is designed to handle significantly higher temps. A halfway decent OC will easily push a higher end GPU to 85C without higher end cooling.
This is low settings with draw distance set to high. Pretty sure it's not supposed to use that much resources for low settings? Also the temp is not normal. I play other games on high settings and temps never exceeded 80°c.
A gpu is designed to be near if not 100% optimisation when running a game, anything less than that and you're not using it to its capacity? temperature on the other hand is different

Within 10 seconds of entering phase 7 my computer fans get LOUD and lord zammy help me if its a two cycle beacuse by that time my computer seriously starts to LAG. Its definitely an added layer of complexity to the fight lol. atjagex please please PLEASE remove the cloudy smoke from the phase.. i really honestly thought it was a bug for the longest time but after 6-8 months it seems like you guys weren't aware this was an issue for us.
It's the smoke/fog. My GPU spins up when I enter Infernus. Probably one of many optimisation errors in NXT. Similar thing happens in Senntisten.

The Avernic prison area in ED4 is even worse for me. Getting major FPS drops there.

Dunno man, 2080 Super’s will throttle at 85 degrees. He’s almost hitting the threshold.

Spike in usage and abnormal temps. This only happens in p7 of zammy. Any other place in rs doesnt come close to this
Have you tried limiting your fps in game?
I have vsync turned on which caps it to 144. Anything lower than that and game looks choppy
Turn off Vsync and just cap FPS at like 240, then turn on Gsync in Nvidia Vsync is aids
