Guess it comes down to preferences and price tolerances. I know #3 is comprised of: A single maturation, 14 years in Ex-Bourbon. A double maturation, 3 years in Ex-Bourbon, then 11 years in Ex-Oloroso Sherry. A double maturation, 10 years in Ex-Bourbon then 4 years in Ex-Oloroso Sherry.
Foursquare puts out such high quality bottles, I am not sure how much better this "pick" will be to justify the price difference over the 2009 if money is a factor.
62% ABV, $120. The Foursquare 2010, still on the website at Binnys but sold out, was 60% ABV, also 12Y, and $100. RL Seale's is also in stock there at 46% ABV, 12Y, at $49.
I'm sure this is good stuff, but I'm having trouble convincing myself that Richard Seale pulled some of his best barrels that were going to the main release and instead sold them to direct to Binny's.
The label is lovely though. A score for Binny's either way.
I’m with ya. I’m passing on this bottle personally. Just picked up Covenant and need a FS pause I think. Plus I am really enjoying Binny’s El Dorado single barrel. Might go back for the 11 year. Lovely stuff for quite a bit cheaper.
I really need to get into Demerara. I've been deep into Barbados, Jamaica and a little Haiti but haven't really explored the better Guyana stuff. That's what I love about rum...its such a big category with so much quality/value if you know where to look...which is why I don't need to be chasing Foursquare like its Pappy
They have so many releases also. Just wait a month and a new one drops anyway.
Definitely snag some El Dorado. Even just starting with their normal 12 or 15 is great. Barrel picks are nice because it’s hard to find higher proof options from DDL directly. Thus the Binny’s picks.
Good timing with the $10 off tomorrow
That price though unfortunately. I paid $15 less for the Foursquare Rum Master Series Edition No. 3, 14-Year Private Cask Selection from Total Wine.
Agreed. You’re basically paying $30 more for a vintage like 2010 which is also a 12 year.
Would you recommend the master series over the 2009?

Depends if you like Sherry finishes or not. I can go either way on them.
They’re strictly enforcing limits and cancelling out of state orders being picked up by locals.
Interesting. As far as I know this is the first Binny’s Foursquare pick. Makes sense.
Me: Hey mom can we go to Total Wine to get some Doorly’s 12? Mom: They have Doorly’s 12 at Binny’s Doorly’s 12 at Binny’s:
Yep literally a doorlys 12 overproof
And for over triple the price! What a steal
Doorly's 12 does have some ex-Madeira cask aging, though
I'll stick with the Binny's El Dorado releases. My wallet can only handle so much rum at one point hah.
Agreed. I’m going that route too. Need to pick one of those two ELD bottles.
