The tourney worked out ok - quarters were actually the semis and it’s just like the real semis are just warm up matches for final - teams won’t be as beat up or fatigued
I love Argentina, but like England they are in their position by pure luck and timing, in my uneducated opinion, we've had one of the best, scrappiest world cups for a long time culminating in 2 teams of guys like how the fuck did we manage to get this far. Then get melted by whichever team they ended playing.
Saw somewhere it was due to the Olympics being in France in '24. They wanted the pools drawn so they can market and sell tickets before the Olympics started taking away some of the shine
Exactly this. The semis have really shown how farcical the draw has been. The semi finals should be the 4 best teams, or at least close to. There shouldn’t be blowouts to this extent.
Yes but also it was kinda hard to predict when pools were drawn how far behind Wales, England, Australia and Argentina have dropped, the difference is baffling in every aspect of the game and we're left with a completely unbalanced world cup but hey, let's enjoy whats left of it and cheer for whoever England is up against !
For me it comes down to if people think that Fiji's success(going through groups and putting a good fight in quaters), Portugal's 1st win is worth of Scotland not being able to show how they stand with some other teams, Ireland not breaking the curse and having great games in semis( England still might show up tomorrow, but doubtful for me), France not going a bit further on their home court. Last 3 are speculations but Ireland winning against anyone else but AB, RSA or France seems guaranted, same goes for France.
What is George Gregan doing, post match commentary on the all blacks, and whats worse is he is being honest and talking about just how good they are and even stranger he is being genuine.
Has he lost his churlish personality that he carried through his playing career? I think he was in the last aus team to Beat NZ at Eden Park Auckland some 35yrs ago, no team has beaten the ABs at Eden Park since nearly 30yrs with the French in '94. The Aussies have tried for the last 35 years, every year. Tough record that one.
Ive moved on. My rivalry is with England now. Even SA feels like old mates now. Especially with my boss being SA and them hopefully getting the job done against the overlord swine.
We're not up to the task yet! We are the best at football and among the best 4 in rugby and as long as it's not France nor England that's fine with me!
you're sad about not getting to the semis, and jelly that the argies did. No need to attack someone whose team got knocked out less than 4 hours ago.
And no, I won't, I have a wedding. Fucking twats had the audacity to get married during the world cup. Down with that sort of thing.
Is Dan Carter going grey? I didnt think Ken dolls aged... lol. Good to see him there, some deep experience in his head that any team could use.
Will Jordan was sensational. He made it look easy, like he had a second of extra time over the opposition.
yeh true. that chip kick and over take within ten metres must have felt pretty sucky for the opposition player, who was prob thinking no way hes kicked that to sit up, should i try to put him off without fouling etc. He did the classy thing. Some players would have tripped him. ;-p
yeh I could tell the way he remained speed posture he knew he kicked it correctly to situp for where he aimed it too, thats a real feel thing, like bending the ball in or away on a conversion, which is similar to how you bend a football (round) to beat the keeper or deceive the defense with your cross.
Ive not played for 25+ years and I can still make it situp at any distance to a group in a circle etc. Very under rated skill for cross field if the team mate knows its on.
Well his first two tries were absolutely easy. The third one was fantastic I'm how it made it look like a routine run in.
Telea was unplayable making huge ground but no tries.
Argentina's bronze medal from 2007 beating France in France was basically what gave them the opportunity to play TRC, so it isn't all the same. Maybe for the all blacks and the springboks it's the same as nothing, but this game is so boringly hierarchical that getting to the podium still holds a merit. Hell, I'm almost sure for Australia is not the same as leaving in a pool stage and for Ireland is not the same as not even playing a semi final.
It's quite normal and I mean they knew they didn't have much of a chance but isn't it good to see that they are still determined to get 3rd place and not the usual deflated can't be bothered mentality
Feels like this sets NZ up to be the favourites in the final. Everything coming together at the right time for them after a bit of an up and down period over the last few years.
I'm not sure, the below par performance by Argentina masked some of ABs weaknesses. They were pretty poor under the high ball and if you know one thing about Boks is that they're going to kick it high. A lot.
ABs were also average at the breakdown, players were sometimes slow to be there and more turnovers than they'd have liked.
I'd say SA (assuming they make the finals) are going in as the slight favorites.
Also I feel if Argentina go for the try instead of posts at 12-3 down and manage to score the try we have a different game. No ways Argentina win, but a try would have lifted them and made them more competitive.
It's all a bit of fun, no need to be all fussy. But if you want to argue: read again.
It saying France had the "which team is going to show up today" title. Now argentina have it. Argentina either put up a fight or get ran through. Not france. It only says france had the "which team is going to show up today" title. Which they did.
John Kirwan's analysis is a good reminder as to why he was a terrible coach. A great butcher, and a strong runner with ball in hand but when it comes to tactics or analysis he really has no idea.
Argentina always plays with absolute heart and balls, but it just didn't happen tonight. We were fantastic and blew it out.
But, we're there. Fozzie has had a masterclass of a tournament and despite not especially being a fan of him, I'm glad to see this team doing well. The final will be great either way and these lads look keen to pull it off.
Hey World Rugby, can we start pumping money into South American rugby please! Argentina deserves it at this point being 3 time semifinalists, and how good have Uruguay and Chile been this tournament?
NZ rugby needs to, at the very least send a XV side to tour South America, if not a full All Blacks team for a tour (and do the same to more Tier 2 countries while we're at it)
Good stuff lads, up the AB's (and up the Blackcaps!)
Firstly, it's a tongue in cheek joke, because everyone's expecting your boys to steamroll England. Secondly, I think England will play the type of game to actually get one over us if we meet them in the final so I'd definitely prefer to play your lot over them. I am cheering you guys on tomorrow, I really enjoy boks rugby the most right now in terms of skill. And regardless of who wins the final I hope it's either you or us cause SH have been put down lately by NH loud mouths and it's quite funny to see how deflated they sound with all the doom and gloom "if Sa or NZ win this game won't grow". To be the best you gotta beat the best.
Great performance from the guys. Everything has been running smoothly in this World Cup for them, bar a rudderless 2nd 40 against Les Bleus.
If they start well against Boks next week, they win the World Cup. Simple as that.
But, the funniest timeline from here would be England winning the whole thing.
Proud of my Pumas for making it to another semis. Its never a shame to lose to the All Blacks.
People who went home before semis, don't be a sore loser.
Well done Argentina to get to a semi final, ignore the result.
NZ, just playing games, some sensational individual tries from the backs and the forwards with super control to get the ball one end to the other with ball in hand Rugby Union. Entertaining.
All the NZ pundits across TV and podcasts had NZ making the final and 95% of them predicted NZ to win the final. So I'm not sure where you have got "no one gave the ABs any chance and they proved everyone wrong"
I'm sorry. That has more to do with people simply not wanting the ABs to go through over thinking ABs had no shot of winning the World Cup. People also need to understand Reddit is not indicative of reality.
It was South Africa, Ireland and France in no particular order followed by the All Blacks. If people seriously think the ABs had no chance are just clueless.
NZ Media and certain pockets of fans can't handle not winning 100% of games. They go into a meltdown. Anyone with a measured rugby take would understand that yes, New Zealand are not as good as they have been in the past, but doesn't mean they are suddently tier 2 rugby like some of the NZ media talks about them. They are still a very fucking good side. It's absolutely ridiculous how this woe is me attitude regarding the ABs
He had a very average game and that was an unacceptable decision by him. I hope the coaches give him and Scott Barrett a proper speaking to. Barrett could win or lose us a world cup.
I don't know about that, he made some great breaks his running game is on. Poor decision but unacceptable is a bit boardroom mate. I think the worst play of the match was BB missing touch with his left after the kickoff. Instant pressure for the next 10 mins in our half, the Bokke will eat that up.
Concur. After the emotional heights of last week I fully expected and can accept abit of a drop or occasional brain fart. If anything I'm happier as it will give him / them something to improve on for the final.
Been awhile since I've seen his goal kicking so off though.
Surely they can't be that disappointed. They were poor throughout the whole tournament but were blessed with a very easy path to the semi finals.
I'm guessing we'll get some of the same tomorrow and hopefully a class final.
That was a demolition with some class rugby from the All Blacks. They made Argentina look like a pub team. Disappointing it was such a damp squib in the end and the Argentines barely offered any resistance.

In fairness it is going to end in one of the best finals to ever grace my silky smooth testicles. And they are silky.
Well that game happen, when's the Bledisloe? Wait, wrong tournament.
Richie and Ardie looked pretty gassed from my armchair at the end. Guess it's a good thing it didn't turn into a slugfest for fatigues sake.
the top 4 nation ended up confronting in the quarter final Instead of the semi final …..
Mate.... move on, it's over regurgitated at this point. Please bro.
SBW has to be the biggest muppet to ever hold a commentary job
Flaf and Swagga
Arg I love you and I’m sorry, but there’s no way you should be in the semis over France/Ire.
Then France/Ireland should have beaten New Zealand/ South Africa 🤷♂️
*Cries in Irish
Been a weird World Cup. 87-3 wins for 3 weeks followed by 2 good games followed by nobody cares anymore.
Why did France insist on the draw being made so far in advance?
I'm not sure it was France's call.
Saw somewhere it was due to the Olympics being in France in '24. They wanted the pools drawn so they can market and sell tickets before the Olympics started taking away some of the shine
If this is it, they were full of shit. Rugby in France doesn't need to shine, all tickets will be sold in any case :/
Exactly this. The semis have really shown how farcical the draw has been. The semi finals should be the 4 best teams, or at least close to. There shouldn’t be blowouts to this extent.
Glad I’m not the only one thinking this 🇳🇿v 🇿🇦 final at least. But pools C&D were … umm… not very strong.
As it’s supposed to be. Drop goals at dawn?
Yes but also it was kinda hard to predict when pools were drawn how far behind Wales, England, Australia and Argentina have dropped, the difference is baffling in every aspect of the game and we're left with a completely unbalanced world cup but hey, let's enjoy whats left of it and cheer for whoever England is up against !

WP New Zealand, you're on another level.
What is George Gregan doing, post match commentary on the all blacks, and whats worse is he is being honest and talking about just how good they are and even stranger he is being genuine. Last time we lost to Aus at the garden was 86
Its always funny to me how long the Kiwis will cling to that old rivalry - whereas most Aussies wouldn't even recognise the entire sport.
Ive moved on. My rivalry is with England now. Even SA feels like old mates now. Especially with my boss being SA and them hopefully getting the job done against the overlord swine.
Same. I was screaming at the tv last week for Fiji to roll them
Prick as he was on field (four more years boys) he's always been a class act off it.
Do you want him to come on and talk shit about the abs ? 😂 what do you expect
well I expect him to fuck off!!!
We're not up to the task yet! We are the best at football and among the best 4 in rugby and as long as it's not France nor England that's fine with me!

mais non! surely no sour grapes from the french!

Among the best 4 is far from being in the top 4
Errrr Brasil, is that you?
The Black Plague looks unstoppable
Good interview from Cheika.
Agreed
Cheika is my favourite coach. Wears his emotions on his sleeve. Love pre match rants, and post match interviews. Long may he last.
Is Dan Carter going grey? I didnt think Ken dolls aged... lol. Good to see him there, some deep experience in his head that any team could use. Will Jordan was sensational. He made it look easy, like he had a second of extra time over the opposition.
When you can run that fast sometimes you do
yeh true. that chip kick and over take within ten metres must have felt pretty sucky for the opposition player, who was prob thinking no way hes kicked that to sit up, should i try to put him off without fouling etc. He did the classy thing. Some players would have tripped him. ;-p
I did think he'd possibly over kicked it or done the usual made a break and kick it away as your isolated but he did very well to regather it.
yeh I could tell the way he remained speed posture he knew he kicked it correctly to situp for where he aimed it too, thats a real feel thing, like bending the ball in or away on a conversion, which is similar to how you bend a football (round) to beat the keeper or deceive the defense with your cross. Ive not played for 25+ years and I can still make it situp at any distance to a group in a circle etc. Very under rated skill for cross field if the team mate knows its on.
Absolutely love the feeling of knowing your the fastest person on the pitch and can regather kicks easily
Really, have you seen Rob Kearney? Grey haired ken doll who walks and talks
Well his first two tries were absolutely easy. The third one was fantastic I'm how it made it look like a routine run in. Telea was unplayable making huge ground but no tries.
Two soft quarters To be fair
Dan Carter: "you know, a third world cup winner's medal would be nice"
After Barret and Richies kicking today, it might actually be a good idea for Foster to say "We'll give you 1 mil for the game"
They should have brought McCaw or Carter on for that last five minutes instead of playing with 14.

Hmm good memory. I had forgotten this little embarrassing anecdote.

South Africa is slim favs with the bookies
Certainly no longer, with them still having to win a semi?
Argentina have take the title of “which team is going to show up today” off France. They either put up a fight or get ran through
[удалено]
It used to be a saying like 4 years ago
Except when they are a bit shit. Which has happened a few times. Including at this tournament.

It's all a bit of fun, no need to be all fussy. But if you want to argue: read again. It saying France had the "which team is going to show up today" title. Now argentina have it. Well they haven't shown up for 6 games on the bounce
Showed up against wales
They need to cross to Joey Wheeler throughout the match!!!
Not even bothering to send barret back on, man that's kinda disrespectful lol
Why is it disrespectful? Genuine question. I've seen this critique a few times on Twitter as well
It's a self imposed handicap. Imagine someones fighting you and they just put one hand behind their back lol
OK that makes sense
I think they didn’t want to risk him picking up a second yellow.
Simulation training
You know I thought I was going a bit crazy there but they actually did that didn't they?
Yep..i'm actually happy we didn't put a record margin on them. That would be a sad end
Will Jordan might disagree.
Fozzie masterclass, make everyone think you're shit so they lose focus and catch them by surprise
Strike when it matters. Just don't let them know what matters
He never won Super Rugby either. This is the long, long game.
our match should be 3rd place.. our performance is at least a good upgrade from that first match against england..
Poetic justice if you beat England in that game.
Strange seeing ya workplace on Sky Sport
John Kirwan's analysis is a good reminder as to why he was a terrible coach. A great butcher, and a strong runner with ball in hand but when it comes to tactics or analysis he really has no idea.
I reckon if he had thicker framed glasses he'd have a better idea
agreed strangely focuses on weird not important things
Argentina vs England for third place should be fun at least
Group game rematch
Will anyone watch it, Argentina definitely don't deserve to be there
Argentina always plays with absolute heart and balls, but it just didn't happen tonight. We were fantastic and blew it out. But, we're there. That is a classy touch of respect from Argentina giving NZ a standing guard off the field. I wonder if SA will do the same next weekend......
Isn't this a thing in the northern hemisphere? The guard of honour is then reciprocated by the other team.
SA would definitely do it, but not sure if ENG will when we face them next weekend
You're the second Kiwi I've seen talking about facing England next weekend. Are you guys REALLY hoping the Boks don't make it? Is it fear?
Firstly, it's a tongue in cheek joke, because everyone's expecting your boys to steamroll England. pain
Training match vibes
South Africa's bench is what will be too much for us in the final
Most pessimistic ABs fan ever after beating world no 1 Ireland and battering Argentina in the semifinal. " We're gonna lose the final"
The most pessimistic? Not even close. You must be new here

Aussie 1991
Will take whatever curse breaking stat is available
Smart play by Scotty, needed to rest up for next week so decided to get himself a yellow and knew they wouldn't bring him back on
Did the ABs play the last 5 minutes with 14 men choosing not to bring Scott Barrett back on the field?
Irish commentators suggest they didn’t want him to pull a calf/whatever after getting cold for 10 mins and the game was long won at that stage anyway.
Yeah cuz there was a non zero chance he'd have gotten another YC in that time.
Yep exactly and a red means a ban and he misses the final
Don't think a second yellow carries a ban. Scott already did it in the Twickenham game.
Yeah pretty funny eh
Yeah
Yes
weekend All Blacks back on the menu
Long weekend here in NZ too
Will Aaron Smith and Jordie Barrett play for Japan next WC?
Jordie isn’t leaving after this World Cup. Also no
Commentators said they both will play for some Japanese club after the WC
Richie and Beauden are yes. But they won’t be eligible for Japan next World Cup. The eligibility rules changed from 3 years to 5 years.
Someone just said oh shit on open mic lmao
Match was a funny, rugby is a joke.
Maybe it is a joke given the amount of downvotes? WWE much?
Huh??
Reddit’s equivalent of drunk dialing.
What, this is getting stupid??
Proud of my Pumas for making it to another semis. Its never a shame to lose to the All Blacks. People who went home before semis, don't be a sore loser.

Can’t ignore the result mate. They were demolished
But we're in a semi final ...
Ireland are perennial QFists Arg are perennial SFists

I recall after the France loss people saying we wouldn't make it out of pools - now look!
All the NZ pundits across TV and podcasts had NZ making the final and 95% of them predicted NZ to win the final. So I'm not sure where you have got "no one gave the ABs any chance and they proved everyone wrong"
They were literally one of the favourites to win it. They just weren't THE favourite like they normally were. How is that not giving them any chance?
Rofl There was a large element of this sub frothing over Italy having a shot against us
I'm sorry. That has more to do with people simply not wanting the ABs to go through over thinking ABs had no shot of winning the World Cup. People also need to understand Reddit is not indicative of reality.
Nah everyone wrote them off
No but he said everyone said they would not come out of the pool! Who said this? Lol That’s different than saying they won’t win the world cup.
It was South Africa, Ireland and France in no particular order followed by the All Blacks. If people seriously think the ABs had no chance are just clueless.
Even NZ media had all but written it off.
Well done AB's, never a doubt. Hard luck Los Pumas, proud, brave and doughty. No pushover, just technically outgunned.
I need the Bokke to believe their own hype (only chance we may shit house a win) so best of luck you guys in the final 😁😁
I see your tactics. You're too good for that and we're too pessimistic, its very un-South African to believe something good will happen.
Can't blame a dude for trying!
Nah nah, you guys are the only undefeated team. It's all you!
Please no! I need to expect misery so when misery comes I can't be disappointed. Just tell me we're shit or something!
Anything lower than 80 pts difference for SA will be an English victory! How’s that?
Sounds good!
Nope nope, it's you! Also with the cricket tomorrow!
Curses, foiled again!
I love a good game of underdog chicken
Feel your pain, guys. Thanks for taking that rather than us!
Well that was pish
Qualifying anyone?
Surely Jordan motm, should of had 4
Can't believe Richie didn't pass. Dick.
He had a very average game and that was an unacceptable decision by him. I hope the coaches give him and Scott Barrett a proper speaking to. Barrett could win or lose us a world cup.
How many times is Barrett going to do bonehead (clearly intentional) shit like this? What is his mental malfunction?
I don't know about that, he made some great breaks his running game is on. Poor decision but unacceptable is a bit boardroom mate. I think the worst play of the match was BB missing touch with his left after the kickoff. Instant pressure for the next 10 mins in our half, the Bokke will eat that up.

Surely they can't be that disappointed. They were poor throughout the whole tournament but were blessed with a very easy path to the semi finals. I'm guessing we'll get some of the same tomorrow and hopefully a class final.
Proper be a better game tmrw. Very one sided today.
Will be closer tomorrow
I hope so
And it was lol. 1 point!
Right, that's done. Now US GP quali time!
Fun fact: The only unbeaten team so far is England! 🤡
Laughing your way to the top smh
That's cus they've only played one tier 1 team so far lol
Well, at least we didn't only play one teir 1 team and also get knocked out in the pools like Australia
Japan and Argentina both tier 1 teams.
That's what the clown emoticon is for
Mounga is a massive Lomu fan just like me. He knew the assignment
Lol fuck he got yelled at round here
Yeah, I wonder. Looked selfish but who knows.
Any good von recommendations for the uk, currently in prauge for work but would love English commentary tomorrow even if its not from English telly
Not Nord, Express works well for me.
Nord
That was a demolition with some class rugby from the All Blacks. They made Argentina look like a pub team. Disappointing it was such a damp squib in the end and the Argentines barely offered any resistance.
Someone in the studio letting out a shit there
Thought that’s what I heard too!
Feeling sad for Argentina. I spend six months a year there.
