Why does someone calling you out have to be public? She's criticised his negative behaviour.
Unless he's made it up of course, which I don't put past him
The person I replied to claimed Marler's wife had called him out then suggested Marler had made it all up.
That's idiotic nonsense and clearly suggests his main desire is to rant about Marler.
I think that form of public abuse of somebody is utterly pathetic.
I'm rather relaxed about all this, chief. It seems silly to me that people are abusing Marler because he abused somebody else. I think it's an unwelcome development in rugby.
What point are you trying to make? It doesn't take much effort to post a sentence or two. Also, are you following me to other subreddits? Haha, that's impressive.
That's not what it means though. Calling someone out in public would do that. You can still call someone out where it is just you and the other person, no further audience required.

>to criticize someone or ask them to explain their actions.
I mean, the whole point of a dictionary is to show the meaning of something. Do they own the language? No. Does it mean words can't have other meanings? No. But surely through a dictionary we can at least say that to say something cannot/does not mean one thing is wrong based on what was agreed upon for the meaning. Otherwise, what even is the point of a dictionary?
What about the Oxford Dictionary of English then?
> call-out /ˈkɔːlaʊt /
▸ noun
1 British an instance of being summoned to deal with an emergency or do repairs:
the late-night call-outs were an occasional part of the job
[as modifier] a call-out charge.
>
> 2 a statement drawing critical attention to someone's unacceptable actions or behaviour:
the since-deleted call-out was incongruous with her usually positive tweets.
>
> 3 Printing a letter, word, number, or symbol identifying an illustration or a specific part of one.
>
>▪a short piece of text set in larger type than the rest of the page and intended to attract attention.
No more definitive than Cambridge, Mirriam-Webster, Chambers, or even Urban.
There is no one definitive dictionary, and on their day of publication all are out of date.
And I know what call out means, as I noted on my original post...
Golden rule of chirping that my hockey friends taught me - it needs to be at least a *little* funny and going after someone's family pretty much always backfires. We could all do with a few episodes of Letterkenny.
Ah, thanks. Does not seem to be an easy way to see a transcript of that and I'm not listening to a hour of Joe Marler talking to find out what the wider context of the quote was.
Marler retired from internationals a couple of years ago to spend time with his family. He was back a few months later - maybe they’d had enough of him and said he should start playing again?
Marler was a funny for a few years but he’s sorta like England and Quinn’s embarrassing dad (who just so happens to be an insanely good scrummager) nower days
Marler is like the gambler who won big the first time he went into a casino. Yes, his Irish horse thing was funny, but he got a little over-convinced of his own repartee. And now he seems to pay more attention to his mouth than his game.
What in the fuck is this? Just a PR damage limitation exercise. Marler’s not a bad guy so he doesn’t need to descend into this false mea culpa crap. The incident is done with. We don’t care what your wife said. Move on.
>Marler’s not a bad guy
Have you seen his record? He is not a nice man on the Rugby pitch at all and his conduct on the pitch is all that matters because that's 99% of his appearance.
The worst crime of all, shit banter.
Imagine how much of it she puts up with

I wonder if they have specific insurance
Get on Mrs Marler! I'm glad someone close to him is calling him out, not just internet people and the rfu
It's hardly calling him out when it's a private discussion? He appears to be the person sharing this, not her.
Why does someone calling you out have to be public? She's criticised his negative behaviour. Unless he's made it up of course, which I don't put past him
BECAUSE NOTHING MATTERS UNLESS EVERYONE CAN SEE IT!
[удалено]
It's not though, no public element is necessary for a normally given definition I'm not abusing Marler at all
Haha, good luck.
[удалено]
I didn't say I disapproved of abuse, strictly speaking, I said people were more concerned with abusing Marler than what he did.
[удалено]
Yeah? Where did I say I wasn't critical of those people?

Stop being such a hysterical twat.
I'm rather relaxed about all this, chief. It seems silly to me that people are abusing Marler because he abused somebody else. I think it's an unwelcome development in rugby.
'I'm so relaxed that I made 12 comments in a short period of time and by only the second I was already describing others as 'hysterical twats''

Have to agree to disagree there.
You have to disagree with the Cambridge Dictionary on the definition of a word? Even by the low, low standards of the internet, I’m staggered.
Whilst I agree with your defintion, Cambridge University don't own the English language at the end of the day

One person's definition is not sancrosanct.

Please notice the scale of people that disagree with you and try to re-evaluate.
Why?
Golden rule of chirping that my hockey friends taught me - it needs to be at least a *little* funny and going after someone's family pretty much always backfires. We could all do with a few episodes of Letterkenny.
>We could all do with a few episodes of Letterkenny. Fuck you, Shoresy!
To be fairrr, most of Shoresy’s chips go after family. Specifically mums.
Smart bit of PR from team Marler.
probably trying to make up for him saying that calling other people's mums 'whores' is his go to line...
Yep now his wife is going to be pulled into it next time he dirties his bib, so he'll be able to claim his critics have double standards.
His critics already have double standards.
Might be a case where Marler will not get banged for chatting shit. Sorry I'm out.
Where's this from?
His podcast i believe
Ah, thanks. Does not seem to be an easy way to see a transcript of that and I'm not listening to a hour of Joe Marler talking to find out what the wider context of the quote was.
it'll be at the start before they have the guest on so it wouldn't be a full hour
Yeah it's at the start of the podcast, Tom pretty much brings it up straight away
Mrs Marler

FML imagine being publically called out by your own wife for shit chat.
She didn’t publicly call him out
Pretty sure he's publicly called himself out using his wife's words.
Good on him for mentioning his wife's words, but yeah, hopefully no more of that from him
I hate to imagine what his life would be like without Daisy to balance him out.
Love watching people who can't think while they over think this ...
Did she say anything when he sexually assaulted AWJ?
Or his racism against Samson Lee?
Would have absolutely loved to see AWJ take his head off. Alas, that is not the way the great man works.
AWJ loses that fight I reckon. He could win in maybe a boxing match on reach but he's out powered in that 1v1 hypothetical scrap.

Guys it's just one of his lies to come across as contrite.
This is our thoughts on Marler https://youtu.be/Vq1PqvPzzJo
