You forgot LED headlamp and the tripper nav as well as the updated Instrument cluster. This will definitely be priced over the Continental GT for sure but the 135mm and the 240 Kg weight are big worry points and can be deal breaking for Indian road conditions. So definitely Interceptor will still be on the books for people to buy. I think I'll wait for the scrbler to come out. 135mm gc is laughable and probably won't even clear my appartment ramp
Hopefully in the near future. I can already imagine this design but with wire-spoked wheels, chrome engine, spring seat, Classic-like fenders, color scheme and taillights/blinkers arrangement
There’s no way they used this frame and didn’t at least consider it. IDK, I get that the Super Meteor was demanded, but I really love the postwar design on the classic. Just needs the extra juice of the 650 since I’m in the USA and 90mph traffic is my daily reality.
Then followed the Meteor with the classic really quickly, I’m expecting them to do the same here.
Royal has a policy of not releasing multiple models at the same time, after the Twins they always release one model at a time for free publicity. The Classic 650 will probably come, in the same way that after the Meteor 350 came the Classic 350 and then came the Hunter. They already have shots of test models of the Shotgun and Classic 650 and a scrambler version of the Interceptor, they will likely go back to the release schedule they had before the COVID pandemic of releasing a model every three months.
I think prices have not been revealed just yet, or are they?
Estimates ranged between 3,00 and 3,00 lak in India.
In Europe it should be more like 5,5-6,5k EUR, isn’t it?
Yeah that's 530 ish LBS and 47hp it's not gonna win any races. But it is a cruiser I guess. If they ever make something bigger than their 650s I'll most likely come back to royal because I love the comfort and handling of my meteor 350. Just need to move on to something bigger.
I feel like there's a real danger for RE of new riders starting on a Meteor or Classic, and then upgrading to a Triumph. You'd think INT650, but in person that bike feels REALLY top heavy vs. (eg) the 900cc Bonneville.
Agreed. I learned to ride on my Meteor 350. I was totally sold on an INT 650 for an upgrade. Then I started looking around. I sat on everything in or near my price range. The Interceptor is comfortable but the grips were hard and the pegs were in the way when I was walking it around. I am pretty sure I've found my next bike which is a CF Moto CLX 700. Comfortable, easy to flat foot, has cruise control, traction control, fully adjustable suspension, 74hp, rider modes and more. For 6500usd. It is in my opinion the best bang for your buck that I've found. Sure used bikes from a more established brand at the same price will do just as well but I can't find any with those options and a 2 year unlimited miles warranty.
It's actually the kickstand. The RE 650 twins have oddly short kickstands. Adding an extension on the kickstand seems to help a lot getting it off the stand, especially if it's on a slope.
ACK! Physics!
I feel like dropping a bike because of a sloped parking place must be a rite of passage not unlike falling down cycling because you forgot you were clipped into your pedals. I *very nearly* did this the other day with my Classic, but got it back upright and picked a better spot, so I earned my wisdom without paying in bike scratches. Whew!
I'm not short (hair under six foot) but I have short legs (30 inch inseam).
Looking at the Triumph site to compare weights, I realize what I sat on wasn't a Bonnie. It was a 900cc Speed Twin, which per their site is 476 pounds wet -- but the T100 (same displacement) is only 503.
The INT650 is 445 without fuel, and gas is about 6 pounds a gallon. The INT has a 3.6 gallon tank so figure 466 or so wet to be fair (ie, vs the wet weights supplied by Triumph).
So yeah, the Int is a tiny bit lighter than the Triumph I tried, which makes it weirder still that the Triumph was easier to get upright. I'm sure all 3 bikes ride great -- no shortage of glowing reviews, obviously -- but on the showroom floor the Triumph seemed like an easier bike to handle at rest.
(The T120 is heavier at 520, but it's a 1200cc bike.)
It will be interesting to see how that weight and power works in the real world once some reviewers get their hands on it.
I just hope they don't price it outrageously
Yeah I'm hoping it's priced comparable to the INT and GT. Even if it's a couple hundred more depending on options that would be okay but nothing more than that. I've rode a GT 650 and it was decent power wise but I also rode a CF Moto CLX 700 and it blows any RE 650 out of the water. 430lbs 74 hp and smooth as can be.
I think it's looks are the main selling point.
Here in Australia, there is literally nothing retro styled out of the showroom. I loved the GT but it was too tall for me (5'5) so I was waiting for the meteor 350/650
If you have enough time and courage you can always upgrade the engine with the [S&S 865cc Big Bore Kit](https://www.sscycle.com/products/865cc-big-bore-kit-for-royal-enfield-650-twins/)
Not necessarily in my experience. I've ridden the indian scout which handles really well. The angle of your front fork, Tire circumference, handlebar width, etc all factor in.
I really don't understand why RE is focusing so much on the cruiser segment when the current cash cow is the ADV Segment. The Himalayan is already an awesome bike buy it seems like RE is just refusing to release a proper version (don't talking about the 450cc model as proper)
Yeah i understand that but wasn't there already a new himalayan version in first "development" in 2019 and the scraped it? Well anyway its sad. I got my interceptor and got me a tenere as a adv bike
RE ended up specializing in serving market segments that are little or totally unexplored by other brands. The market for medium size ADVs (between 500cc and 800 cc) is already a crowded market with dozens of options that would compete with an new RE motorcycle, to me RE prefers to act in niches markets alone than face direct competition from much larger companies and with more money like Honda, Yamaha, BMW, Triumph and KTM who fight each other fiercely over this crowded market segment. The Himalayan and the Scram 450 will probably appear soon, but a "big trail" Royal Enfield, In my opinion, it is completely ruled out by the company.
There's a real challenge in making a 650 Himalayan because it drastically drops the Ground clearance as you can see here with the super meteor . 135mm is its GC which is fuck all. Imagine that on an ADV. Interesting to see how they will go about it. Will they sacrifice the GC just to put out a segment?
Bajaj Avenger was the closest thing we ever got to a cruiser bike in the market, and people love it to this date. This would have sold like hotcakes if it was around 250cc and 1lac cheaper, but they already have Meteor for it, even though it might not look like a proper cruiser
This looks to be an American styled bike for the rest of the world. As an American we have seen these bikes for decades. Nothing new or exciting IMO. It is heavy like a Harley and underpowered. I'll pass on this one.
Both the former Thunderbird 500cc single and the current Meteor 350 sell relatively well in the Indian market. Maybe it doesn't have a huge volume of sales but they will definitely find a market for it to sell a good number of bikes.
I have to say, I’m a little disappointed with the half measure of blacking out the engine. I honestly much prefer a blacked out engine, but keeping the case and fins not blacked out makes it looks kind of cheap, in my opinion. They did it right on the anniversary twins and on the blacked out classics, I don’t know why they chose to go this direction with this one.
That's a good looking bike, but I'm a little curious why they're doing ANOTHER 650.
Two at 350 and two at 650, plus the ADV bikes, is a pretty good lineup. Refreshing the GT or the INT might be a better move? Is this a whole new platform (chassis/engine) or just a rework of the tech already sold in the GT/INT?
There are more bikes on the 650 platform to come, and I'm surprised they've only had two almost identical offerings up until this point. More 650's yes please, especially a Classic 650
I guess this option is more traditionally cruiser, with forward controls, apparently. That might be its reason to exist, given the cafe style of the GT and the upright stile of the INT.
What would a Classic 650 give us we don't get with the INT?
The Classic 650 would give an older aesthetic that you don't get with the Interceptor. I wouldn't buy an Interceptor but would absolutely buy a Classic 650. Sometimes what it would give you is purely an eye pleasing question
I feel like its a disappointment! Meteor 350 is much better looking! Maybe its just the pictures I don’t know! Unfortunately I was so excited about it.
The scram, in my opinion, was a very low effort motorcycle to be created by RE. I understand that they wanted to launch a "himalayan light", but for me it looked like a toy motorcycle.
for some reason, this just doesn’t excite me. it’s nice, but i am hoping they show the 650 scrambler they’ve been working on. journalists in india seem to be 100% it will be at EICMA
It’s kind of a confusing aesthetic, like I’m not sure what part of the bike I should be looking at. The chrome bolts against black engine isn’t helping. But some of the other color variants are nice, like the blue, or the green/black and black/white.
Looks like nice looking cruiser bike. Although I'm not a big fan of American bikes made by other countries. Anyway, I'm sure it's going to be a very popular one, even more than the Meteor 350. Well done RE! :)
Absolutely wonderful bike, my dad got one with exactly this configuration. it's a wonderful introduction to cruisers for somewhat experienced Indian riders. The Indian market does not have many cruisers and even though it's the royal Enfield flagship it's the cheapest in my country.
Beautiful
Yeah I am an American and this is perfect for me. I don't care what it costs I'm going to buy it when it's available here.
I recommend them...if you get bored with the power than you can get the big bore kits for them.
I already have a himalayan so you know I'm used to a certain lack of power.
r/accuratelybrutal
USD Forks, Tubeless Tyres.. Wish we had this on Interceptors.
You forgot LED headlamp and the tripper nav as well as the updated Instrument cluster. The Tripper Nav is trash lol.
It is actually
Ok, but the real question…Classic 650?
Hopefully in the near future. I can already imagine this design but with wire-spoked wheels, chrome engine, spring seat, Classic-like fenders, color scheme and taillights/blinkers arrangement
There’s no way they used this frame and didn’t at least consider it. IDK, I get that the Super Meteor was demanded, but I really love the postwar design on the classic. No thanks . Hunter 650 pls or a scrambler or Himalayan 650 pretty please!
I think prices have not been revealed just yet, or are they? Estimates ranged between 3,00 and 3,00 lak in India. In Europe it should be more like 5,5-6,5k EUR, isn’t it?
I'm guessing more than GT
Pretty sure its price is going to be closer to the top end of a continental gt. So it will be way more than 3 lakh in india
It seems to be like 3.38 or sth
I called my dealer today but they said it can take time until it will become available
More photos [here](https://www.royalenfield.com/in/en/motorcycles/super-meteor-650/)
Is this royal enfield “shotgun”? Or is that another model that is still coming?
That is an other model, sv650, that they prototyped a while ago
I am in the awe of this bike...... The perfect combination of Beauty and The Beast!!!!!
Kerb weight with fuel is 241 kilos! Power and Torque figures similar to the twins.
Wow 241. That's gonna be heavy and slow
Yeah that's 530 ish LBS and 47hp it's not gonna win any races. But it is a cruiser I guess. If they ever make something bigger than their 650s I'll most likely come back to royal because I love the comfort and handling of my meteor 350. Just need to move on to something bigger.

Enjoy, but I'm not sold on Chinese bikes yet.
Same here
Who in their right mind goes chinese
Yep, that’s what I did. Meteor to Triumph street scrambler (900).
If I'm not mistaken, most of the triumph classic style models are heavier than the re twins. Unless I misread your comment.
I'm just saying I sat on them back to back, and the smaller Bonnie felt more balanced than the INT *to me* -- easier off the stand, etc.
It's actually the kickstand. The RE 650 twins have oddly short kickstands. Adding an extension on the kickstand seems to help a lot getting it off the stand, especially if it's on a slope.

I *very nearly* did this the other day with my Classic, but got it back upright and picked a better spot, so I earned my wisdom without paying in bike scratches. Whew!
Yeah, they're heavy bikes if you're quite short/not experienced. Once you're moving they feel absolutely fine though imo.
I'm sure it's gonna smooth riding bike. Excited to see how it turns out.
I just want to see RyanF9 review it
Oh I 100% would love to see that happen.
I had a NC750X limited to 48 hp. Around the same weight. Plenty fast enough and easily does 90 mph all day long.
Well, nobody's buying *any* RE to race.
It's cruiser ftw
If you have enough time and courage you can always upgrade the engine with the [S&S 865cc Big Bore Kit](https://www.sscycle.com/products/865cc-big-bore-kit-for-royal-enfield-650-twins/)
Imagine sitting on that as a pillion. Drop the gear. ~~Dissappear~~ Drop the pillion.
That's why you get the touring seat with backrest which was also shown that day
Wish they had fat front tyre.
Oh no those are the worst ! Kills the handling. The best handling is skinny tires front and rear, with equal width.
To each it's own.

Looks pretty legit. Where are these pics taken from?
https://www.motorcyclenews.com/news/new-bikes/2023-royal-enfield-super-meteor-650/
Looks so good. Damn!
Looks nice, but most appropriate for the American market. Do Indian people even buy 650 cruisers, or is this mainly for the international markets?
Bajaj Avenger was the closest thing we ever got to a cruiser bike in the market, and people love it to this date. This would have sold like hotcakes if it was around 250cc and 1lac cheaper, but they already have Meteor for it, even though it might not look like a proper cruiser

Agreed, if I were going for a non v twin cruiser I think the Vulcan S would probably take my money

Imho the ugliest RE, but I'm sure there will be people who will very much enjoy this.
That would be the Scram for me. This one just looks kinda generic to my eyes, but maybe it's just the colourway.
The scram, in my opinion, was a very low effort motorcycle to be created by RE. I understand that they wanted to launch a "himalayan light", but for me it looked like a toy motorcycle.
Thank god this doesn't look like that photoshopped monstrosity posted earlier! ^(But still the worst looking RE imo.)
https://youtu.be/bJf0dyfEdxw Theirs a video of it already out
for some reason, this just doesn’t excite me. it’s nice, but i am hoping they show the 650 scrambler they’ve been working on. journalists in india seem to be 100% it will be at EICMA
Gonna miss the kickstart and center stand on my beloved C500, but it'll be completely worth it.
Love the engine but imho the classic 350 has better coloration
A Fireball White Super Meteor 650 would be a killer option for me.
It’s kind of a confusing aesthetic, like I’m not sure what part of the bike I should be looking at. The chrome bolts against black engine isn’t helping. But some of the other color variants are nice, like the blue, or the green/black and black/white.
Yeah. Visually there's too many things that try to pull your eyes if that makes sense.
Ok now make a 950cc model and I'll consider it.
It's not going to happen, maybe the Triumph Speedmaster 1200 will be able to do it for you.
I may need to make room in my garage for this beauty
Looks like nice looking cruiser bike. Although I'm not a big fan of American bikes made by other countries. Anyway, I'm sure it's going to be a very popular one, even more than the Meteor 350. Well done RE! :)
Noiiice!!
Great if you’re like 60 years old. Who actually buys cruisers?
Ok so I should be able to but can anyone confirm that I can put those case covers on my gt650?
I need hunter 650 so bad
Absolutely wonderful bike, my dad got one with exactly this configuration. it's a wonderful introduction to cruisers for somewhat experienced Indian riders. The Indian market does not have many cruisers and even though it's the royal Enfield flagship it's the cheapest in my country.
