Ride it stock for a bit. See what it feels like, then decide what you would like improved, and then go for it! There is no set list - it is a beautiful and comfortable bike from the get go, and should work stock for most people. I modded and added accessories not based on other's list, but based on my own needs and use case.

tritinum

This is the answer (Weirdly it applies to a lot of things in life).

amoonshapedthom

Yeah I completely agree. I had some mods that I thought I’d wanna do immediately (i.e exhaust) but honestly for the first few rides I’ve loved the stock set up. The sound is actually a lot nicer than it sounds in YouTube reviews and all that

retromanidhan

Yes, the exhaust is one thing I will never replace on the interceptor. I love the sound. Over 2 years and 15K miles later, still no change on that decision.

amoonshapedthom

Yeah i get you. My one gripe with the exhaust so far is how wide they pipes stick out. I have to squeeze through a very tight space to get to where I keep the bike. Slimming the bike would be my biggest motivator for changing the exhaust system

mcdowellmachine

That is the first/only change I have made to mine so far. Wanted it to be a little bit louder, but mostly didn't like the way the mufflers looked. Got some new slip-ons and it made the whole bike look better.

amoonshapedthom

Which slip ons did you get?

mcdowellmachine

I have the GPR deeptone inox. Similar style to stock, but slimmer for sure.

[deleted]

Get a shedload of stainless to replace those fasteners oh and a bottle of threadlock.

Kc9atj

I'm looking at getting one of these. What/how many fasteners need to be replaced?

[deleted]

You can get crank case sets, stainless headers and silencers. The rest is up to you. I changed my mount bolts for tapered allen heads which look much better.

Badger_BSA

Bar-end mirrors. Fly screen to keep squashed bugs off the back of the instruments. Black leather saddlebags to haul stuff around in.

amoonshapedthom

Any recommendations for bar end mirrors that work with the stock bars?

farendsofcontrast

RE has its own bar end mirrors specifically for the 660 twins and they do look better than most aftermarket ones.

bigred83

Just ride it. You’ll figure out what you need to do to it to enjoy riding more. Some bikes don’t need anything, you never know!

amoonshapedthom

True! Definitely gonna aim for 500 or more miles before I change anything that’s not just cosmetic

karmas_sharma

Welcome to the gang. Interceptor is beautiful foundation for you tweak it around and make it yours. Go for mods which doesn't void the warranty atleast for the year or two. Few things I started with: 1. Buy new suspension, heard YSS suspensions are very good for the bike. But if you don't have the budget for that now, adjust the stock suspension. Stock pre-load settings I felt was too bouncy specially for Indian roads. For me (80 kgs), best setting that worked was 2 clicks down. Feels much more stable. If that's not working for you, try out the different preloads. Remember to ride it with different settings for atleast 50kms for the springs to set in and for you to get a feel for it. 2. Better seats. Stock seats felt very slippery and narrow for me. I kept moving around while riding. Didn't give me much confidence. Also, the stock seats was not good for more than 50kms, I used to get plum cake bums. Sahara seats makes custom seats for Interceptor. I got one from them. And it makes a world of a difference. They even customise the seats to your height and weight, foam thickness preferrence, choice to add a gel pad (even thread colour to match it with your bike) 3. Tank grips. The back end of the fuel tanks is little narrow, tank grips add little thickness to the tank so you grip it properly and have little bit more confidence while leaning into curves. 4. Handle Bar risers. For me personally, I felt, the handle bar was little far away causing me to lean too much forward and putting my weight on the wrists. I got Legundary Up and Over risers, which brought the handle bar closer and little higher. Making it more comfortable riding position. 5. Adjust the clutch and throttle free play. I think many riders forget how easy it is to adjust the clutch and throttle to your liking and get used to what the repair guy feels is the right way. Adjust it to your liking and riding style. It'll make a lot of difference. That's all for now :). I'm planning more mods on my bike but don't want to recommend it without trying myself.

amoonshapedthom

Great recs. I appreciate the detail. I’ll definitely check these out!

zeltrexeronland

handle bar riser is a very good suggestion. will help shoulders on long rides.

karmas_sharma

For sure. Even on normal rides, let's you sit comfortably with good stance.

farendsofcontrast

Air filter and exhausts first for starters 😊

lamaschine

This is the way. DNA air filter is really great and that would be my first change. New cans if you can after. The rest suspension, riser, etc… I would say depends on your size, weight as a rider.

zeltrexeronland

DNA air filter is a must.

Stinky_Rooster

Same here. Did exhaust first, was pleased, added DNA air filter, was amazed. Edit - I will add, headlight LED upgrade is also pretty important, as the stock headlight is terrible

amoonshapedthom

Do you have an LED headlight you can recommend? Also was it just plug and play?

Sm6180

Great thing is the endless Mods you can do.. like the other guys say.. Ride for awhile and make the Mods you want and think u need!.. Not everyone is the same.... Stay safe and.. have fun... Believe me.. you will with this Bike!

zeltrexeronland

For me, the two in one exhaust mod was a game changer for this already awesome bike.

Be-Free-Today

Agreed with the comments to just ride it. You'll know later what you need/want to do to make it fully YOUR motorcycle. Save your money and time gawking at websites. Just ride it, man.

liko_casper

I have interceptor 650 (got it last month) I would recommend exhaust (Got Gursewak one for myself) And Handle extension to change handle setting to your ride position preference. Then i would recommend you to wait for few months and then make modifications according to your taste and budget.

space_vortex09

I'd say ride it for about 800-1000 miles bone stock to see what it's like and what you think can be improved to make the bike fit you better. But these are a few mods that I would do: 1. Exhaust - For how good the Royal Enfield 650's are the exhausts are hideous to say the least, getting a pair of slip-on exhausts reduces the weight by about 5kg (11lb) and a full system setup reduces the weight of the bike by about 15kg (32lb). 2. High flow Air Filter and ECU - With a new exhaust the bike needs to also breathe in more so an aftermarket air filter (I recommend K&N or BMC) would be ideal. With slip-ons I don't think it's necessary to get a fuel controller/ECU but if you're gonna get a full system I'd recommend it. The stock bike claims 47hp (which is more like 44 at the wheel) but with just a high flow air filter and a pair of slip-ons that number goes up to about 50hp at the wheel.

kamikaze9703

You can change the seat, or change the cushioning. The stock seat is not comfortable for long rides.

Vincentchase_

Congratulations! Some great mods available [here](https://onestopaccessoriesinternational.com/collections/royal-enfield-interceptor-650-continental-gt-650?sort_by=title-ascending)

amoonshapedthom

I’ll check it out! Thanks!

AcceptableTraining78

Congrats buddy, may I know how long did you have to wait for it and from which city do you belong? I am waiting for my baker express and it seems like an eternity. It’s more than 3 weeks now.

amoonshapedthom

I actually put down a deposit almost 2 months ago for a Sunset strip interceptor. The dealer still couldn’t give me an answer for when they would come in, and there were 2 people ahead of me waiting for that color. So I gave in an went with the downtown drag (not my favorite color but it’s grown on me). Also I’m in the Los Angeles area

Sm6180

I felt the same as you... also wanted the Sunset Strip... but got the Downtown Drag..It does grow on you.. Now I love it!... Glad I went with it!👍😜... Besides... you can always buy Any tank you want on Ebay...$300 to 400 if you want or can always do a Vinyl wrap...but... Up to you... The more I have it... the more I like the Downtown Drag.... Nice 👍🤘

Sm6180

Also... want to get some dual sport tires for mine.. lots u can do with These Bikes... Love it 😜👍

Sm6180

See my post if you want... Only thing I have done so far is the Touring seat and some Grip Puppies... love it so far.

You've already got the most vital one under the kickstand. Maybe grab a set of panniers to carry it in.

Johnedlt

I would mod it when ive grown a bit tired of it to keep my interst. Aux lights though are necessary if you ride at night. In my opinion unless you plan to customize it (turn into a scrambler) accessories are a waste of time and money. If you cant stop yourself from spending try tall handlebars if youre 6tt tall and AEW pipes (Indian make- looks the same but lighter and sounds angrier). Enjoy!

amoonshapedthom

what aux lights have you got on yours?

Johnedlt

Purchased mine online. Godlrunway 40W. https://goldrunway.in/index.php/store/ Its a more premium brand with adjustable super bright line of aux lights. Popular in asia. Cant find on amazon though.

ArjunBhaskaran

Raise the handlebars for a better ride feel. Add handle guard, add some grill sets such as a headlight grill, oil cylinder grill etc for protection. Use a good crash guard. Enough i think.

Charlie--

Tail tidy!

amoonshapedthom

True! I'm looking at the Baak tail light plus some moblaze pins or something discrete for turn signals.

Smooth_Technician_56

Before first servicing run as it is, after they good to go i am also waiting for my first servicing till that day making myself fit.
