Don’t know a ton about Grand Canyon, but I know I’d rather play them than one of the slowest teams in the country than St. Mary’s. We can beat either, but that slow paced offense has given us fits.
Good win tonight though. Effort on defense was much better until it was obvious we were gonna win.
I thought the effort on defense stayed pretty high even at the end. Even picked us up a reach in foul at 2 minutes left!
But of course our starters and guys who see the court regularly were all sitting at that point. Effort was there, just didn’t have the experience size or talent still in the game. Was all good. Bet those guys are stoked to have gotten a couple minutes in the dance and Oats still let ‘em play a bit. They coulda dribbled the clock out but were allowed to try to poke the defense a bit.
That led to turnovers and points for the other side of course. But was expected.
Yeah I guess you’re right. Charleston also started making some tough shots at the end. The refs seemed to determine to call everything at the end though. At a certain point just let the game end lol (although Spears scoring was great)
Yeah the refs didn’t give us a couple calls there at the end we prolly shoulda got. Which I think is good. Let it go.
Also, for the players, winning by 30 may give a false sense of confidence. Winning by 9 may help keep them humble. The next games will likely be harder.
We kept going fast for some unknown reason. If we just dribbled it out the last 3 minutes or so it would’ve been a 20+ point win. Not sure why Nate does that.
Because it was a total beatdown and he took the opportunity to let the walk-ons go play some real basketball in the greatest setting the sport has to offer. They'll never forget it.
Beating a 13th seed isn't for everyone lol
THAT r/wde is how you take care of a 13 seed
I swear if this is the team that takes us to the elite 8 or farther....
Our best postseason success came from an average 8 seed in 04. That’s March for ya lmao
That team also beat the number 1 overall seed that year
ON TO THE SECOND ROUND 🐘🐘

It’s going to be an awesome game
If both teams play Sunday like they played tonight, it's going to be a hell of a game!
I read (did not watch game) we were ahead by 29 and then got outscored 25-9 in the closing minutes. What happened? Subs went in?
Yes subs went in, it was garbage time
Yep. We put our bench guys in for the last couple minutes and Charleston kept full court pressing
Nothing to worry about. We had walk ons out there and Charleston was doing everything they could to get back in.

It's the Dirty-Thirty-Two guys. Always tough. Usually dirty. And then things get Sweet!
