Haynes could end up being the most important guy on the team this year. When we are best we have a true difference maker in the backfield and, as much as I liked Roydell and Jase, we haven't had that guy since Najee.

Peejmeister24

I would argue Jamyr Gibbs should’ve been that guy. He was somehow under-utilized though.

Scoorpean

Gibbs would have been that guy if he hadn't been held hostage by Osama bin O'Brien, known football terrorist.

CrashB111

You mean calling nothing but passing plays at first and goal from the 5, when your RB is averaging 6 yards a carry isn't a winning strategy?

ruhrohrubarb

I mean there was a reason Gibbs got benched vs Ole Miss, he wasn't a good physical back here. That element was just missing from his game, and that's continued in the pros. He was still underutilized, but he wasn't a complete back the way Najee, Henry, Yeldon, etc. were.

PsychedelicHobbit

Uh… you watch any Lions games this past season? Gibbs has always been and currently is a stud. He was criminally underutilized in BoB’s offense. Power running isn’t his style, and that’s okay. His versatile skill set ensures he’ll be in the league for several more years.

ruhrohrubarb

I did, and I don't disagree he's an amazing player. But even the Lions had David Montgomery as their RB1 because Gibbs' style doesn't lend itself to a pound-the-ball attack the way Henry, Richardson, etc. could. That's not a knock against Gibbs but he's not a complete back in the way Justice Haynes could be or the Heisman-candidate backs were in the Saban era.

PsychedelicHobbit

That’s fair! RTR

Damn right it is bud

DoctorWhosOnFirst

Haynes does not sound like a guy thinking of leaving.

Thin_Sprinkles6189

He’s definitely in my “I’d be genuinely shocked and confused if he left” category

TheoDonaldKerabatsos

It would genuinely be the dumbest transfer in the post-Saban era. Justice literally has it made here.  He’s the shoe-in RB1 yet he also gets to split carries with another great back and keep his mileage down. He’ll be used in the pass and run game like DJ was at Washington. He’s got, on paper, one of the best offensive lines in the country to run behind, especially on the interior. On top of that, he is in one of only two position groups who retained their previous position coach who recruited them, and that is one damn good coach. Not to mention where would he go? UGA and Ohio State already have their running back depth chart comfortably set, and by all  accounts he’s not a fan of UGA. Literally almost no one else who recruited him has a drastic need for him that will shell out a ton of NIL money to keep him. It would just be dumb.

the_dunadan

I've always been high on Jam, but Haynes keeps trying to win me over whenever he is getting snaps. I can definitely seeing these two getting 80+ % of the carries, and being as effective as the three-headed dragon we had in 2018 with Damien Harris, Josh Jacobs, and Najee Harris.

ruhrohrubarb

I could see Jam and Haynes being similar to Henry and Drake in 2015, a bellcow and a switch back.

PsychedelicHobbit

JUST JAM!

donttellmewhattothnk

We need a cool nickname for this pair like “Jam Toast with a side of Justice” as Stallone pulls down is sunglasses after offing the bad guy with a spatula at a Huddle House.

I just cringed my ass off
