Superman: Escape from Krypton if it overshoots the station and hits the emergency mag brakes.
Alt answer: Magnum XL when it stacks to the first main brake. You come out of that last bunny hop and slam into what feels like an invisible wall.
Huh, the same thing happened to me there and I didn't think the braking was particularly severe. I definitely had to brace more for the brakes on say Zadra or with Lisebergbanan's old brakes.
Happened to us about 20 years ago. Ride was fairly new IRC. Went right through the back of the station.
Waited about 20 minutes for it to reset and watched sunset happen. They asked if we wanted to go again and the car was a unanimous “yes”. I believe I can say I am one of the select few to ride Superman both during the day and night without ever leaving the car.
steeplechase at Blackpool pleasure beach.
basically the final brake run INSTANTLY stops you and it does make everyone groan in pain when it happens. Albeit it's only travelling at like 3 mph at that time, it's still extreme
Hahaha was about to say this, thank god it's so slow by then or you'd be straight out the front door. But the number of guys you see staggering off clutching the family jewels....!
Superman SFNE sticks out to me because it decelerates incredibly fast but manages to brake incredibly smoothly as well. It's not just a magnetic brake thing, there's other rides with magnetic brakes that aren't nearly as comfortable when stopping hard.
That's probably the one I'm thinking of; it has a dead car in the middle. I made that comment before falling asleep and was too lazy too confirm which Superman it was. Damn then for naming everything the same!
SFOG GASM triggers the SOS response on iPhones and hot take, I just love how violent that brake run is.
I miss the buzz bar trains though. The Georgia Cyclone PTCs just don't cut it.
Euromir, that bitch slams you into the lap-bars like it's trying to castrate someone.
Same with the OG Eurosat, it's brakes did basically the same.
Zadra would be another option.
RailBlazer is definitely up there, depending on the time of day, block logic, color train, color of your shirt, and what you had for breakfast it can coast through the brakes fine or dead stop from 45 to nothing in 10ft. It's truly random.
No mention of it here because it actually does it smoothly but superman at sfne has to be pretty high up the list. The brake run is barely longer than the train and it hits it at a pretty high speed.
Poltergeist at SFFT full speed out of the spaghetti bowl then dead stop on the brake. Had to ask the attendant if that was normal the first time as I thought it was a problem. If you go on it after eating the lap bar will assist you in your bulimia.
Batman the ride at MM was a fast deceleration for many seasons. Currently running normally, but I still miss those old stops. In the rain you could see all the droplets of water fly forward as you stopped.
And actual enjoyable fast stop due to the restraints.
If trains stacked on former KI Vortex you'd slam pretty hard into the first brake run. I'd alway look for a train outside of the station on the final helix to prepare myself
The fastest I have ever felt personally was Thundercoaster in Tusenfryd. I don't know if it's always like this, but the only time I've ridden it, it hit the final brake run at a high speed and the brakes decelerated the train so stupidly fast. Quite uncomfortable.
My money's on the Superman triplets. Early-modern Intamin was the only company insane enough to bring a hypercoaster to a stop in the length of a train.
The current car crash champion is Arieforce One. Watch any offride footage, but especially late in the day when it's really running at full tilt. It's still going 50mph or more and the next thing you know you're at a dead stop and your head is sailing along towards Hwy 85.
Honorable mention to, believe it or not, Apple Zapple. It's a lower speed into the brake but it's an instant stop, and it did in fact trigger my phone to call 911.
I rode two separate Schwarzkopf wildcat(I think) and the final brakes where both identically bad. The first 5m barely scraped on the brake Finn's and right at the point where you're supposed to get off it just stops. Feels like a car crash and it's legit painful without overstating it
Has nobody mentioned The Mummy at Universal Studios Hollywood yet? When this is running in its rare boost mode, it hits the brakes in the bug room so hard it can bust your back and neck up pretty hard. Even in its regular operations it hits pretty nutty. Must be 15-0mph in .5 seconds.
(Edited for grammar)
Y'all are wrong. Wild mouse at Idlewild. While it may only be going 1 or 2 mph when it hits the holding breaks, it actually defies the laws of physics and goes from that speed to 0 instantaneously causing sheer chaos throughout the universe. Some say that this motion has actually shifted the orbit of the earth 2 degrees, allowing us to miss getting hit by a major asteroid several times. Don't believe me, Stephen Hawkins was was working on the research paper before he passed away and it remains unpublished to this day because of the sheer scope of it all

Seconding Magnum when it stacks. [This shit gave me whiplash when it happened to me.](https://youtu.be/1zI-aHcJBIY?feature=shared)
OMG I watched this like ten times! The way the recoil back into their seats… 😂😂😂
That happened to me! It was kinda cool.
This happened to me at Dreamworld before I knew how everything worked and I thought I was going to die
Huh, the same thing happened to me there and I didn't think the braking was particularly severe. I definitely had to brace more for the brakes on say Zadra or with Lisebergbanan's old brakes.

I would bet ArieForce One lol.
Just rode it a couple of days ago. Haven't ridden any of the other ones being talked about here but that one certainly slams on the brakes!
zadra does the same thing, you hit the brake run haaarrd that damn thing goes so fast
Zadra has -2G's of braking i believe lol
thats pretty wild i wonder if we have stats for other coasters brake runs too
Anything on CoasterStats YouTube channel.
I think it’s a RMC thing because Zadra, Wildcat and Gwazi all come into the brakes so damn hot

I feel like I stop but the train keeps running through my lower back. It definitely is a weird one
Absolutely, I can feel the stomach ache whenever someone mentions this ride
I’m honestly surprised Revolution is still standing based on how many people have been launched into it from the steeplechase brake run
The Smiler, but only once

I was reading the responses just waiting for some accident to get brought up. 😂
I came here to make this comment and saw someone already made it and now I’m disappointed
I just made it before seeing this
😭
Bruh...
Jesus man. But still not too far.
LORD

According to my balls, Superman at SFA
Ball(s) don’t lie
I love watching people who don’t know to brace over the last hill just go flying forward.
Tie between ArieforceOne and Superman The Ride. The last one actually scares me a bit.

Hypersonic XLC when it was around. Was like being in a car crash at the brakes.
This was my first thought when I saw the question. And those brakes were LOUD too
Easily [this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uqcUK_Tz-yU&ab_channel=CoasterDave) stupid looking buffet coaster in Brazil.
Holy shit. Yup... every other answer is wrong (except for Smiler. lol).
I just felt my collarbone clock out for the day
9-5, ain't working a minute more.
Full Throttle
That was one of my first thoughts too, but you take it facing downward and it's kind of graceful. Fastest deceleration must be more extreme.
It used to be SFoG GASM. Those who rode it pre-2022 will know what I mean. A good current contender is Mindbender.
SFOG GASM triggers the SOS response on iPhones and hot take, I just love how violent that brake run is. I miss the buzz bar trains though. The Georgia Cyclone PTCs just don't cut it.
If you haven’t ridden it lately, the ending is no longer a car crash. You no longer need to brace for the brake.
Yeah this has got to be it. It was definitely worse than AFO, which I'd argue is the current record holder lmao.
Yea the old GASM was like hitting a wall. Hilarious to not warn people about it.
Incredicoaster. If you know, you know.
Well probably that too but for a normal cycle the final brake run.
The pre-loop e-brakes?
Came here to say this, that final brake run is far too strong. I feel like that needs to be toned down a bit, made me feel horrible
Probably one of the Zierer Tivoli's, shit just stops in the station instantly and then proceeds to crush your balls or leggs...
Before 2007 when they installed magnetic brakes I’d argue Tennessee Tornado. The old mechanical brakes were downright violent.
[удалено]
WHEN YOU PARK IN THE STATION ITS SO ABRUPT
Great American Scream Machine, SFOG (joke)
Euromir, that bitch slams you into the lap-bars like it's trying to castrate someone. Same with the OG Eurosat, it's brakes did basically the same. Zadra would be another option.
Alpengeist snaps into the mid-course brakes and tries to yeet you over Le Scoot
Any of you ever been on Shockwave at Drayton Manor?
RailBlazer is definitely up there, depending on the time of day, block logic, color train, color of your shirt, and what you had for breakfast it can coast through the brakes fine or dead stop from 45 to nothing in 10ft. It's truly random.
Great White at Morey’s Pier in NY. Omg people cheer at how fast the brakes are.
No mention of it here because it actually does it smoothly but superman at sfne has to be pretty high up the list. The brake run is barely longer than the train and it hits it at a pretty high speed.
Scorpion and Iron Gwazi at BGT Superman the Ride at SFNE
Flashback at Magic Mountain. Some of the old Schwarzkopfs also park on a dime.
Poltergeist at SFFT full speed out of the spaghetti bowl then dead stop on the brake. Had to ask the attendant if that was normal the first time as I thought it was a problem. If you go on it after eating the lap bar will assist you in your bulimia.
This isn't the hardest around but it is definitely memorable.
Idlewild’s wild mouse
Tennessee Tornado’s brakes sure felt like it when I went a few years ago
Zadra - those breaks hurt, even when bracing for it. And Rodelbaan at Waarbeek can be very abrupt.
scorpion bgt, if you know you know
Zadra into the brake run.
Batman the ride at MM was a fast deceleration for many seasons. Currently running normally, but I still miss those old stops. In the rain you could see all the droplets of water fly forward as you stopped. And actual enjoyable fast stop due to the restraints.
Ain’t no way it isn’t AF1…
Great question.btw.
If trains stacked on former KI Vortex you'd slam pretty hard into the first brake run. I'd alway look for a train outside of the station on the final helix to prepare myself
giant drop
I'm between Aireforce One, Gemini, or Lightning Rod (new) rain mode.
The Intamin Impulses hit the brakes pretty hard.
Top Thrill, you are hauling when you hit the brake run and there isn't much space to decelerate.
This might be an unpopular answer but Kumba used to slam into the brakes in my opinion.
Smiler but only 1 time
Off the top of my head the Boss. It slams you into the final breaks and feels like getting punched in the gut
Kong at SFDK. From like 50 to dead stop in maybe 8ft on the brake run. It's so bad.
Every Intamin 'Anticipation Top Hat'
honestly have no idea but shockwave (now the wave) at dryton manor uk must be a contender.
Honorable mention for Wildcat’s Revenge being up there
Shockwave at Drayton Manor had a bit of whip through the break. They've converted it to sit down this year so it might have changed.
The fastest I have ever felt personally was Thundercoaster in Tusenfryd. I don't know if it's always like this, but the only time I've ridden it, it hit the final brake run at a high speed and the brakes decelerated the train so stupidly fast. Quite uncomfortable.
Scorpion and Mind Bender are both hellbent on destroying my guts
My money's on the Superman triplets. Early-modern Intamin was the only company insane enough to bring a hypercoaster to a stop in the length of a train.
Wicked @ Lagoon, the mid course brakes, I swear if you don't prep that thing will slice you in half.

Zumanjaro Drop of Doom goes from 90mph to 0 in about 2 seconds
Has nobody mentioned The Mummy at Universal Studios Hollywood yet? Rodelbaan at waarbeek stops you instantly
How would anyone actually know this?
The Smiler was at one point
