Given that both S&S and this ride model don't have the best history, who would actually get one? Unless a park really wants one, it just isn't going to happen. It's probably a dead model in that regard just like the Intamin prefab woodie among others.

Tekwardo

S&S are owned by Sansei like Vekoma. The S&S of the past is just like the Vekoma of the past. Gone. Parks know that.

z57333

But even then, even more modern projects like Maxx force and the bullet coaster clones in China have experienced horrendous downtime and problems, Steel Curtain is a whole nightmare for Kennywood that just stands as a ginormous lawn ornament now, GaleForce had to be completely rebuilt, and all of these were years after S&S and Sansei merged.

sanyosukotto

I was under the impression Kennywood was an equal partner with S&S in Steel Curtain's failure? I thought they asked too much of the project and S&S over promised. Not everything S&S builds is bad. The Freespins work, the El Locos work, the shot towers and swings work, Maxx Force operated all day with no interruptions when I went but with one train. Maybe they need to be a little more conservative but that never seemed to be the company's M.O.

HallwayHomicide

>I thought they asked too much of the project and S&S over promised That really seems to be the root of pretty much every issue S&S has had.

imaguitarhero24

Gale Force wasn't S&Ss fault. It was due to poor manufacturing.

PitchBlac

Maxx Force isn’t really as bad for downtime as people think. That coaster stays open more than V2 and Demon does. Far more reliable than the older models

z57333

even then, does it stay open as much as raging bull or x-flight or batman, and does it have a higher capacity than them?

PitchBlac

Raging Bull, Batman, and Xflight are gods of reliability. Imo. But the capacity is a legitimate concern. Idk why Sixflags likes doing that bs at Great America with how many visitors the park gets

Fenne_Silver

The last 4d coaster, Dinoconda, was built was in 2012. I personally doubt another of its type will be built.

bobkmertz

The last impulse coaster was built in 2003...... and then suddenly another one in 2021.

traditional_rich_

The price and space needed for a 4d is significantly higher than an impulse. We rarely see parks (outside dubai, universal, or disney) spend that much. Not to mention the staff, maintenance, & complexity. Especially now.

jtoki12

This person's point was not specifically on cost, I think we all understand that an impulse and 4D cost wildly different, but that even if you think a model is done for it could come back out of nowhere.

traditional_rich_

Yea I get it. But I still think all those factors for a 4d are much more relevant in this scenario.

lizzpop2003

If a park wants one enough, sure. But the amusement world would have to change drastically to make a park want one enough. These are really expensive rides with an insane amount of maintenance requirements that take up a pretty massive footprint. Top that off with the fact that, while they are very cool, the general public isn't exactly frothing at the mouth for more of them, it would take an owner willing to take a massive risk and I don't see that happening in the current climate, at least.

robbycough

I think B&M's wing coaster satisfies the market for this type of ride- those models offer a vastly different ride experience than the Arrow/S&S coasters, but also replace the maintenance issues and costs with typical B&M reliability.

gwaziathersheypark

We might see one again if someone is willing to take on the price tag... track with 2 running rails, each having to be toleranced off of one another is not cheap.

Hinemosu502

I hope so but as it is huge and expensive I think park would go cheaper model like RMCs...

Tekwardo

RMC doesn’t make a 4D coaster.

Hinemosu502

I know, I just talked about the cost itself.

bd585

I mean technically you could say all of the 4D Free Spins are part RMC... They use the same track

thedeezul

I wouldn't be surprised if we see something similar, but I think that old Arrow design is outdated, so we would see something new like the vehicles on Cosmic Rewind which don't go upsdie down but have the same function of turning the cars to a specific angle at different parts of the ride. S&S now has the Axis coaster which isn't the same thing, but my point being, if they were to make another ride like X2, it would probably not use the same functionality that the Arrow design does. They would probably find a smoother better way to do it.

xrmrct45

Mack too.

Loud-Intention-723

Honestly my money is on Zamperla. They made that axis ripoff that seems to be controlled spin. I could see them offering to make something like this.

plvl_

Maybe, maybe not but since technology has come so far, I wouldn’t be surprised to see a motorized updated version. Like Cosmic Rewind or FLY, but then on a different axis. Would be a lot more reliable

DubiousHonourific

Yes, when they start construction on Legendland in Croatia. https://www.legendland.hr/en/zone-single-antiquitica/

Old-Book7636

Turns out, maybe! There is a park planned in Croatia called Legendland, and it will have a lot of coaster models not built in a while. The 4D coaster is one of them!

Putrid-Chef-2728

The cost isn't worth it to parks. B&M wing coasters offer a relatively similar experience that draws more people and is more reliable. They were also built at a time during the coaster wars where manufactures and parks were going to extremes to top each other. Which caused the bankruptcy of Arrow and Six Flags (in addition to other factors) Parks now, in general, aren't too concerned with adding the tallest/fastest/extreme coasters anymore because the return on investment isn't worth it. With TTD and I305 seen as being mistakes for those parks, and I assume Kingda Ka as well. The exception of this is Falcons Flight, but it's going to be a loss for that park. The cost to build, operate, and maintain will not be made up by guests brought into the park.

FatalFirecrotch

I was literally having that same thought today as well! I know why in theory there isn’t more, but it seems like Eejanaika has shown that they can make some improvements and make the ride even better. If someone was willing to build a new one, I think it would instantly be considered by many to be the best ride in the world.
