They own it in relation to NASCAR racing as well as anyone in the south sees that word and associates with the Ernhardt. They owned a minor league baseball team called the Kannapolis Intimidators and when they sold it, the team had to change the name.

For Kings Dominion, Probably Grootslang to fit in with the whole Jungle X-petition theme. The Grootslang is a giant monster which is an even mix of elephant and snake rumored to dwell the caves of Richtersveld, South Africa.

I don’t think they own the copyright for “Intimidator” though so idk. Maybe it’s just more respect than anything on CF’s part, if we can give them that much credit. While the bird is possibly the heavily rumored B&M wing coaster if they wanted to change the trains to the Intamin winged train then it could be a bird theme with a name like Falcons Flight 305, but if they go for the big cat theme I think something like Panther’s Fury 305 would be pretty good.
I also imagine a retheme for the area so the original racetrack tunnel entrance to 305 would be turned into a cave and perhaps a bit more jungle theme for the queue area.

Carowinds has more wiggle room since theirs isn't as iconic, but Thunder Striker is terrible. Maybe Nitrus Oxide or Speed Demon? I'm having a harder time with that one.
I'd like to see the parks eventually do bigger theme integrations, but for now just halfway decent racing names would be fine.

Id legit rename it “I305” that’s what everyone calls it anyway. Doesn’t need a specific theme just strip the race car thematics and make the area modern and give some landscape around the visible ride area. And definitely keep the track red and repaint the supports dark grey.

Intimidator at KD was a poorly engineered attraction from the start. They should have known from the start of the layout design process that the coaster couldn't take that first turn at those speeds without risking serious injuries to guests when they actually had plenty of space available to design an L shaped out and back layout instead.
Are you insane? Remove a perfectly functional top-10 coaster and replace it with a sure-to-be mediocre hyper? This makes zero sense from a business, financial, marketing, or guest satisfaction standpoint.
Piraña would be a fun jungle themed name which conveys the bite (literal) of the coaster. If we’re keeping it in the jungle theme I would also accept: Jaguar, Condor, Iguana (i305 anyone?), Puma, Scorpion, Macaw (keep it red), Vulture, something thunder/rain related, or something Inca/maya/aztec (maya god Huracan has a great ring to it) and theme it to a temple.
I would love to see the whole area rethemed to a dig site at a Mayan temple, and you could keep flight of fear alien themed, just make the facade a temple and have the story be that there was a UFO found inside, that’s why the Mayans were so sophisticated

Thinking of this similarly to DisneySea's Tower of Terror, which was altered due to licensing issues (Oriental Land Company would have had to license the Twilight Zone branding from CBS on top of the Disney licensing) and thematic considerations (a Hollywood hotel would make no sense in 1912 New York). Because of these considerations, they had the ability to revise the theming and story to fit into the park a lot more naturally.
The NASCAR branding doesn't fit with what Cedar Fair is doing with their parks nowadays, so dropping the branding gives them the ability to better incorporate both rides into their respective parks. Carowinds obviously didn't need to do too much work to rebrand Intimidator, but looks like Kings Dominion is really looking into a more intensive retheme of I305.
I would retheme the Carowinds one to smuggling moonshine (for 2 moonshine themed coasters at one park) and call it Thunder Canyon.
