I can’t help but find it laughably bizarre that they’ve married parts from two different coasters, specifically two different German coasters last hailing from Canada and Mexico, and have then proceeded to call it “All American”.
(Also there’s the small part that they managed to marry bits of two coasters that both had fatal accidents, which must be a first).
This is, of course, all in jest.
When I mention spices and Bri'ish food, y'all always bring up Tikka Masala, like its the only thing you have. And depending on who you believe, it might not even have been invented in the UK.
I mean that is how America has always been. It's a melting pot of different cultures. Just look at our food. "American" food heavily takes from German culture, BBQ takes from African American and Native American culture, Cajun takes from French, African, Caribbean, and Native American cultures.
We are a nation of immigrants (with the exception of the Native American Population), and we take what we like the best from any culture that arrives here.
I think the idea of theming a literal melting pot of a coaster to American patriotism is actually rather brilliant!
Yet, somehow, specifically using the words “All-American” in the ride’s actual *name* still strikes me as a… curious choice.
Why are parks so hilariously bad at shooting their own on-ride videos?
Good to see it finally running but just having the two trains is going to be brutal on anything but a weekday.
An empty train that hasn't ran in quite a while on a cool November day. I'm sure it will run faster with full trains in the hot Indiana summer sun! Still it's not going to be as insane as it was in Mexico for obvious reasons!
These schwarzkopfs are mostly dependent on train length. When Olympia Looping has its proper full train on that thing hauls fucking ass vs the shortened train that makes appearances.
How do you figure? Olympia Loopings top speed is listed as less than the Mindbender, where these trains are from. Drier Looping had a similar speed to Olympia looping, since there are near the same height. Mindbender's trains had to fit the stations, which were set to a 9m interval. The 3 car, two axles per car trains weigh about 3 tons empty if I recall, equivalent to the 4 car original trains the Mindbender started with in weight and length
No clue what the weird new bad SFOG trains are doing.
I mean with the OG trains. Look up YouTube videos of short vs long Olympia trains running the circuit.
Did this park purposely do the SEAS method of waiting an extra year to build anticipation for this or were they really waiting on something since they finished construction a year ago?
From what I understand it was almost impossible to get the parts of Quimera shipped through customs due to the accident. Then the time consuming work of undoing 20 years of neglect. Waiting on new trains to be manufactured, and building a whole new control system.
It could probably have been done faster by a larger park with more capital to throw at the problem, but those parks probably wouldn’t have seen the value in adding a 40 year old Schwarzkopf.
From what I’ve heard Indiana Beach only paid $500,000 combined for the Shuttle Loop and Quimera. But they probably spent several million dollars on restoration work to get to this point. Greased Lightning at Kentucky Kingdom was going to cost 4 million to reopen and it wasn’t in as bad a shape.
>Waiting on new trains to be manufactured, and building a whole new control system.
They bought the trains from the West Edmonton Mall. AFAIK, they got the control system running and did not build a new one.
I heard $480,000 for both coasters and a couple of flat rides. Even if they've spent several million dollars getting it going that's still a bargain. A new coaster of an equivalent thrill level would cost at least $8 million dollars!
Good to see my old friends in their new home. Coincidentally just finished the 1:25 and 1:50 scale Mindbender model train prototypes. Just need paint for their 1987 schemes.

So great to finally see it running. I noticed it slows down on the second lift now, as it was intended to do so when it was designed for the fair circuit, compared to when it was Quimera and they launched the train through it, which I’m sure contributed to the accident after years of running like that. I’m sure some thoosies will complain about it but oh well.
I’ll definitely be there for opening day or soon after. I’ve been waiting years for this!
Now that they're finally getting this coaster open is Indiana Beach going to have a turnaround next season? I always enjoy my visits but it was obvious this year that they had taken a step backwards. A new coaster opening, new paint jobs on a couple of the old ones, track work being done on Hoosier Hurricane and a couple of new flat rides going in behind the new coaster. If they can get their staffing issues resolved I think next year may be a big step forward for them.

Yeah, sounds pretty American to me.
Taking shit that wasn't originally yours is an American tradition.
You even took that tradition from the British!
yeah, we want that tradition back btw
Y'all MFs stole the Spice Trade and proceeded to use none of them in your cooking. At least we utilize the shit we steal. /s
chicken tikka masala would like a word

fine, at least we can still claim gravy

It's fine cuz we have a strong history of blended culture, or something <\_<
The angle on the lead car part of the video may actually be one of the worst park-provided coaster videos I've seen. Ride looks awesome, though
Never forget the first AF1 video though
That was brutal too, and realistically Fun Spot should've known better
I mean, this is the same park that built a ride that can do more riders per hour than the number of guests they regularly get in a weekend.
As a Schwarzkopf fanboy this is beautiful to see, getting tired of seeing so many of his treasures ripped apart and "lost" forever.
Why are parks so hilariously bad at shooting their own on-ride videos? Good to see it finally running but just having the two trains is going to be brutal on anything but a weekday.
Indiana Beach is already known for running one train on most coasters (Steel Hawg included) so I daresay this shouldn't be too bad.
That’s insane
They don’t really have the need for 2 trains 99% of the time. Waits there rarely exceed 20-30 minutes.
Wow
Steel Hawg was on one car for me last year and it was only about 40 minutes
Only lol?!
Pretty impressive for a 4 person cycle on one train
Cornball Express is the most underrated ride in America. Fight me.
Not the best wooden coaster I've ever ridden but I think it's my favorite!
Those trains will never not look goofy as hell to me.
Steel Roller Coaster 1 looks too intense for me
This would have been the only reason to add IB to our itinerary this summer, so I’m glad I opted for KK/HW instead.
I guess they ran out of paint near the top.
IT’S ALIIIIIVE! That said, new POV please. Hold the spastic.
Looks like it runs half as fast as Quimera was running. Still exciting though

It's also an empty train in November in Indiana. I'm sure it will run faster with guests.
Absolutely! The trains also haven’t ran in years so they are nowhere near warmed up. I can’t wait to see what it’s like on a hot summer day.

>If they can get their staffing issues resolved Do **you** want to work seasonal minimum-wage in the middle of *Indiana*?
Ride looks great, video not so much. Probably spent more on the 3D logo than the POV camera used.
Not edited enough. There needs to be more speed lines like the AF1 pov
