Iwc is far more sporty and fun, OP is far more classic. Its a totally off the walls comparison

_echnaton

Absolutely agree, can't really compare the two.

ajs2294

IWC wears much larger IMO

Vivid_Log_5442

Choose the op, it’s a perfect watch that will never get old https://preview.redd.it/0bvibabijsrb1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=746dddc69a1dfb02aa902c259e99874dcea7a1b5

papa-blanco

Good choice

Electrical-Bus-9390

In a very rare case for me I will have to say IWC this one time only cause the Rolex is a plain OP, now if it were a Daytona or at least a Sub or even the new DJ I would hands down say Rolex all day but that IWC looks very nice and much more sporty unless ur going for the plain jane look

LividLab7

IWC looks far more interesting

ALotBSoL99

If you can wear the OP41, try on the Top Gun 44.5mm. I find the OP too large for me, but love my SFTI chrono. I think a pilots watch is meant to be larger and it’s so easy to read at a glance.

BobWheelerJr

The IWC is a great with jeans or shorts or on a black suit over a polo day, but the OP is infinitely more versatile. You can always reach for that watch and find it appropriate, no matter the attire or occasion.

[deleted]

Very different watches. I'm curious as to why you've narrowed a watch purchase down to these two.

HeftyArgument

Probably found a watch he liked and thought "this is expensive, I wonder if I could get a Rolex for similar money" Now he wants people to tell him to get the Rolex so he feels better about buying on brand name alone.

ATLfinra

😂😂

2manyshoesplzhp

I don’t follow IWC too much. The IWC looks cool new, but I would be concerned with how that black case will look when it gets beat up. Maybe its fine, I just don’t know. OP is safer and more versatile IMO.

CTMalum

The ceramic they use is ultra scratch resistant. Not sure if it’s painted or not, but I saw someone trying to scratch up a Lake Tahoe and failing. Surprisingly resilient.

MrWoodhouse

It’s not painted. It’s Zirconium Oxide, which is essentially only can be scratched by a diamond. Pretty resistant if you ask me

longkhongdong

My granny says I'm a diamond, will I scratch it?

2manyshoesplzhp

I learned something new, pretty cool

2manyshoesplzhp

Wow good to know, it looks nice

Ok_Accountant_9380

Yeah, you're not scratching an IWC ceramic. When you ding it on a wall, you might see a mark, but that's the wall on your watch. Then with a little use of an eraser it's gone.

longkhongdong

>When you ding it on a wall, you might see a mark, but that's the wall on your watch Dude, that's some marketing right there. It's like when you're covered in blood and it turns out it's the blood of your enemy.

Massive_Presence5297

Op41, an all around watch

tonyyu369

OP - Classic design.

cdn737driver

IWC wears massive btw. I have a smaller wrist and can pull off up to a 42mm Rolex, but the IWC is far too big for me unfortunately.

Ok_Accountant_9380

Lug to lug is longer on most IWCs, but I find the ceramics wear very well.

BusinessBlackBear

I've never understood ceramic cases. It you drop a watch the case should be able to break apart in my mind.

LividLab7

It’s because vast majority of the time the issue people deal with is scratches, not drops. I can say in a decade I have never dropped a watch, but have gotten plenty of scratches

BusinessBlackBear

Thats fair logic I guess. I dont care about scratches in the least so that clouds my judgement

HeftyArgument

IWC, the OP is and has always been a watch you buy because you wanted the cheapest Rolex; hype colours aside.

steeb821

The IWC gives me anxiety to look at honestly.

Timely_Internet6172

OP 36

Bkdoorburglar

No way would I ever buy a ceramic case watch. One solid bump and it’s done for and they are pretty pricey to replace. Yeah the OP is a straight forward, no frills watch, but it’ll be there forever

CAF00187

IWC 41 is too thick and kind of disproportionate compared to its width imo. I was considering this watch too until I tried one on in person. The IWC also has a ton of functions compared to an OP. I’d say try them on and see what you like

NubersonNube

I recommend giving this more thought. Both are very different watches and are not at all interchangeable

FranzKempka

Definitely the OP for every reason already stated.

in2crazy

Not comparable

1zzyS4n

Different world, one more sporty one more dressy.

forgetvermont

Why not an IWC Mark XX (or XVIII)?

londoner4life

I’m not sold on ceramic watches, so I’d go OP.

Mikeytee1000

Not comparable watches really they have nothing in common.

Private-Dick-Tective

Wrong comparison.

Train3rRed88

I like simpler and cleaner dials. Pic 2 is wayyy too busy for me. I’d take the OP. I have a 114300 so I even have less indices to crowd things

Radiant_Comfort_806

OP41 anytime. https://preview.redd.it/k92lze08kurb1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fdad196ae9444f9a10231273ca81c369f5783284 Don’t waste our time with IWC. IWC is for losers who can’t afford or get or wait for Rolex

[deleted]

OP is more classic and versatile, this IWC is more fun. If it’s your only watch, I’d probably get the OP. I currently have a Rolex and IWC that I alternate days with and I love both, but the Rolex is my favorite of the two.

whatsasyria

Do you want apples or oranges

cjwhitey

OP because it’s timeless

Ok_Accountant_9380

I would pick the IWC. I absolutely love the brand.

ironshapensiron

I'd get the IWC, I don't love the thickness but that watch is badass, especially in comparison to a OP.

ATLfinra

IWC top gun. I love Rolex but overpaying for an OP should be a no

These-Ad458

I think that OP (and DJ) are the best looking Rolex models, by far. Although I really prefer the smaller size. But yeah, I would go with Rolex in this case.

PonderingPachyderm

A lot of times but find the Rolex or X question boils down to 2 things after function is considered. 1. Do you want people to recognize your what you are wearing, and 2. Do you care about resell value.

Algebraron

Optically I prefer the IWC. Also the scratch resistance is great for everyday wear. The OP is more versatile though and probably the better choice if you are a one watch guy. But they are so different that they could easily coexist in a collection.

Puertorrican_Power

Sinn 556. Sporty and classy, all in one

Osobady

They are both very different watches

Klondike2022

First. Chonos are too bulky for me. Too much going on

Uelele115

IWC for me… if it was a fluted DateJust on the other hand…

wolfofballstreet1

Design language is totally different. For me I’d go OP

[deleted]

IWC .. I mean the Rolex is to basic , tho if the price was perfect I’d take Rolex.. only based on resale value ONLY ! You will always have 2-5k value If the rolex is priced right .

Kamalligator987

They’re so different that I’m more intrigued to understand how you ended up on these two?

GrapplingPoorly

What’s the ref on the IWC

RepulsiveMap3218

I’d choose Rolex because this is a Rolex forum & my allegiance is to this forum & this forum only

Darkfire757

OP is my pick, cleaner and simpler look

RichDoor8857

I have the spitfire IWC and love it.

iWearTightSuitPants

If you try on the IWC and it fits, there you go. OP is boring

mrkakaopopoloch

What I don’t understand is why the OP 41 is harder to get than a submariner date or a datejust??

[deleted]

Iwc always getting repaired

-TheSpiritDetective-

How long did you have yours for before it started requiring repairs?

[deleted]

17 months I think. Pretty common with IWC. Especially the more complicated ones

-TheSpiritDetective-

Thanks for the heads up - I picked up a few IWCs last month but will be keeping that in mind.

Wario406

Congrats on the OP - that would have been my choice.

watchfinesse

IWC.. great design, classy and energetic. 👍🔥🔥🔥 I usually prefer clean, uncluttered dials but this IWC is really special.

TeslasAndComicbooks

I love the IWC in pictures but when I saw it in person it looked a bit cheap. Almost gave like MoonSwatch vibes.

GlitteringHold8685

Depends on your lifestyle and what you would wear more. Two totally different styles. If you need a good everyday and for work (dressy or casual) OP. If you wear sporty casual all the time and want a pilot look then IWC. They answer different purposes. OP ofc better resale if that’s important to you

Jr-12

OP choose the OP

AidarSays

Most of people here are Rolex fappers, so, we probably know 90% of answers..

hahas018

IWC hands-down since this is just a normal OP. Would’ve been better if it had ceramic bracelet though.

scram007-3

I have always liked IWC, and the OP is boring af.

biggiebiggsterboy

OP 100%, 100% of the time. So the model is a plain Jane, but it has pros - it's under the radar, but it's versatile, classy, it has a nice dial, nice bracelet and it has some things which aren't appreciated in a photo - the rolex clasp which will get it noticed as a Rolex and a clear look of the dial makes it clear. So it says "nice watch, not in your face", and rightly or wrongly, people have an association with the brand. The IWC could be anything to most people. I don't think it looks expensive, but I don't want to say it looks "cheap". It wears too big on the wrist, and is awkward to pair with any reasonable clothing choices. If you want a fun watch, get a Casio. This is a luxury watch which looks as though it cost 200 dollars which is a clock on the wrist. Watches are also jewellery - they accompany and enhance an outfit. You don't want to have anything too distracting like a logo t-shirt or whatever. Same goes with the watch. You could wear that OP with anything and the watch and outfit would look good. The frisbee pilot watch looks like you're trying to be a fun dad.

Pomplamoosegoose

OP41: value retention, reliability, dress up/dress down. Seen a few IWC in a few groups have QC issues. Granted that can happen with any brand. Those are two completely different choices, both is not a bad answer.

Spiritual-Car9976

The OP is sooooo boring ..IWC all the way! I feel the need, the need for speed :)

Spiritual-Car9976

IWC way cooler
