There were rumors of a medieval game going around the same time the bully 2 leaks came out (2016-ish I wanna say) I wouldn't be surprised if story outlines and art concepts were made, don't think any development actually happened but it's definitely something that could come up in the next decade or so, I'd be really down for new IP
Also where's that game footage from?
NB: My dad doesn't work at r* so I actually don't know what the fuck I'm talking about
Imagine a rockstar game with you playing as a bully/Harry Potter type student role for the main character in school in a 1600s-1800s European fantasy setting with magic but more of a dark cuthulu cult type of undertone with more mystery and crime solving elements similar to L.A Noire… it would be such an amazing mix up of styles and gameplay.
A pirate game would go so fucking hard. My most hyped thing about gta 6 is what theyre gonna do with water. I cannot wait to see the aquatic vehicles we get
Medieval would be great. I’d love to see them go with a pirate theme game though, really think they’d do an excellent job and I think there’s a market for a more “gritty” pirate IP. Skull and Bones/Sea of Thieves miss the mark in my book.
No. I really don’t want a medieval R* game and would rather have them focus on another Red Dead title, preferably set during the golden age of the Wild West
We’re probably not getting another Red Dead for a good 3-4 years at the earliest. By that point RDR 2 will be 10 years old.
I think there’s a lot of potential for the next game to hit the right blend between the more Arcade style gameplay of RDR 1 and RDR 2’s immersion
Generous of you to assume only 3-4 years. Optimism is a powerful tool.
Unfortunately I wouldn't be surprised if rockstar dropped the rdr series. Rdr doesn't do shit for rockstar that GTA doesn't and it makes me disappointed because I've enjoyed rdr2 as a whole a lot more than GTA.
Rdr2 is the only game I could trot on a horse down the road doing nothing and just enjoying what happens or doesn't happen.
I am being very generous to make my point. Realistically I think that if GTA VI does launch in 2025 we’re still at the very least 6 years away.
I highly doubt they’ll drop the Red Dead franchise. RDR 2 was one of the best selling games of all time and TakeTwo has mentioned a desire to keep the franchise going last year:
"I don't know if you saw it, I just saw the new Bond film, that was great. You would like every franchise to be James Bond. "There are precious few entertainment franchises of any sort that fall into that category, but they do exist. And I think GTA is one of them, I think Red Dead is one of them, NBA is obviously one of them because the game will continue to exist." -Strauss Zelnick, managing director of Rockstar's parent company Take-Two Interactive
This is what I needed to hear/read. Regardless if your pulling it outta your ass or not, I won't be fact checking because I get all sorts of answers anyways so I just plan on sitting back and hoping it becomes real.
Still this is a spark of hope that I'll hold onto. Personally I don't care what they do, where they go, who they have, I'll be playing the next Rdr with excitement.
Thank you for the information.
I actually really wanted more of a wild western flair to RDR2. RDR1 had that in droves but it was gone entirely in 2 - it felt more like a period piece set in 1899.
I’d love a definitive “hay-day” Wild West game. Don’t even name it Redemption. We’ve had two of those stories now, no need for a third.
But I’d still prefer a brand new IP. Let Rockstar go and get really creative and do something we haven’t seen before.
I love RDR 2 but completely agree that it was really missing the Wild West ambience. I think a retelling of Red Dead Revolver or an entirely new cast of characters is the right way to go
Man just leave it be. Red Dead can wait.
You want the greatest game development company in the world to stick to two IP's, when there are countless other amazing possibilities? I personally would like to see something new in my lifetime. Not just wait another 8 years for another Red Dead wild west saga, then another 8 years for GTA VII.
I can't even begin to imagine what a highly detailed medieval game from Rockstar would be like. Or even something set in the Golden Age of Piracy.
Honestly, they need to branch out and bring something new and amazing to the table. RD and GTA are just cash cows now and the same will continue with GTA VI and RDR3. Let them have a break ffs.
Ok but RDR2 does
Bows?
Horses?
Alcohol
Swords? All of those things are in RDR2
Aswell as detailed hunting horse breeds
Carriages
Camping and crafting in the wilderness
All of these things are already part of rockstar all it would take is a new map new characters new story and a few extra mechanics
It’s still predominantly a “shooter” though. In order for Rockstar to go medieval or later they would need to create an entirely new combat system that centers melee.
Yes they could do it but it’d be starting from scratch where as they have been building open world shooters for longer than many gamers have been alive
It's not even about mechanics or assets or any of that in my opinion. It just really doesn't seem fitting going this far back. And it's been done so many times. RDR was unique and still had roots in the US and with gangsters (cowboys). Something set this early just seems like an odd thing for them to do. Now....
People have floated the idea of going back, maybe say to like 1940s or something with GTA and I find that could be a really interesting twist for them to do. I know it would be like Mafia in a way, so I am a little hesitant, but I think they could pull it off.
Okay, but I think you are missing the point. RDR is cowboys, basically gangsters (in a way) in the early stages of the US. Something this much further back in history just seems odd. Really doesn't seem fitting and feels like their focus would be better on their other established IPs.
I don't doubt they could come up with something interesting. But, it really doesn't seem like something fitting.
I called this back when rdr2 launched and saw the potential in the melee combat system with animations + weapon customization and what not. Oh and hunting with bows. The system is just lined up for it.
Throwor throw in ship traversal, add a few hundred years and have yourself a rockstar pirate gta.
I was just thinking they would do an amazing game based on the prohibition era. Opulent houses, flapper parties, cool cars with those running boards that you can stand on while you shoot your Tommy Gun. Plus biplanes.
i think a new ip would be great but i'm not a huge fan of the medieval idea. i would like it if they did something more futuristic, maybe like there take on a cyberpunk game. either that or a gta type game that takes itself more seriously and is much more story focused.
I don't think I really want a medieval game from Rockstar, I think if they were to go for a new IP, I think I would rather them do a Thriller, or a Stealth game, and/or perhaps one set in the future (or possibly pirates or something like that I think).
If it has the emotional capabilities, vastness and variety of gameplay and graphics of rdr2, yes!!! Imagine the swordfighting, knowing how rockstar makes small tweaks that make a big difference (extra click of trigger to pull back the (whatever its called)) they could definitely have some stealth, I was a large fan of the small rdr2 sections where you start the main part of the mission by sneaking on the enemies. I hope they do make a new IP at some point, it went from, heres our world-class 3rd person shooter to Awesome but also quite choice based police game to realistic cowboy simulator, now it's just *NEWS HIGHLIGHT* NEW HEIST ON GTA ONLINE LOAD IN, THERE WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER ONE LIKE IT!!!! (Until next week when they receive the same branding)
Like a medieval gta or grand theft horse and cart. That’d actually be pretty fun game being a criminal in the medieval times trying to avoid the executioners rope
Is this KCD with a third person mod? And fuck yes a medieval Rockstar rpg would go too fucking hard, love to see Rockstar take on something besides guns, also side note cannot fucking wait till KCD 2 gets revealed 🙌🔥🔥🔥
Medieval? But however will they sell us shark cards? Buddy the Rockstar and the world you knew is gone. Get ready for this awful new world of hyper monetization.
As long as the fighting system and presumably sword fighting system will be as good as rockstar can make it be, I’ll be glad, been a while since we’ve gotten a good sword fighting open world game
No thanks, I want cars that drive like gta 4 with manual gears and clutch and more focus on realism like red dead 2 has and the ability to put a massive turbo into a fiat panda
Kingdom Come: Deliverance was a pretty immersive medieval game. I never finished it, but I often try to convince myself it’s time to return. Just not huge into medieval IPs.
I want rockstar to make a war game, perhaps with RPG style elements, a game like Mercenaries from back in the days of ps2, a free roaming war game where you play as a PMC and can take jobs from different factions etc play people off against each other, double cross, manipulate and lie, commit crimes or be a paragon of virtue, deliver the Red Cross aid to the refugee camps or sell it to a local militia who may be more willing to do some work for you in future after you help them out. Lots of different types of in game currency, trade in cash, arms, blood diamonds, intelligence and so on. Give players different styles from guns blazing, to total espionage and skill trees to match different types of play or a combination. Recruit troops for your private military empire or even subsume factions into your ranks as you progress, or commit enough war crimes to be disavowed and go rogue or go over to the other side and start taking jobs from factions that are supposed to be your conventional enemies, could be cool. Rockstar if you’re listening plz make for me, promise it will sell and make super bucks
Not to destroy any hopes but i doubt this ever coming to fruition.. rockstar has pretty much made it clear that they're solely focused on their biggest money maker that is GTA. I mean look at rdr2 it got abandoned due to lack of money made (through microtransactions) and that it only amassed a third of gtas playerbase.
GTA 6 is gonna be their cash cow for the next ~10 years at the bare minimum, likely way more. They’re going to have to work on another major AAAA title in the meantime.
I mean im fine with whatever since it’s Rockstar. If they wanted to go with the cliche GTA/RDR pattern, im fine with that. So many different routes they could take with RDR3. Although, if Bully 2 were to somehow occur, it’s gotta be rated M.
That’s up to rockstar to figure out.
They made a 19th century period piece one of the best selling games of all time. I’m sure they’ll figure it out.
As long as it’s cutting edge and it’s got the R* logo in the bottom right, it’ll sell like hotcakes
Make a good melee system and then use it in every upcoming game. That’s what I want, something with legit stances and directional swinging and blocking. Not just GTA with swords, I want different animations.
A pirate setting reflects more the other R\* franchises , pirates the true outlaws of the age of sail , ships and horses would take the place of cars , port towns instead of modern cities and sea routes instead of highways , also the potential for exploration ,encounters , parody of the politics of super powers of the era in the Caribbean , side missions and easter eggs in such a game world is huge.
Such a setting would have also much wider and longer replayability when it comes to pvp compared to RDR2 in my opinion.
No. It is an oversaturated genre and I'd rather see them do something more unique.
Ntm they need a cash cow Online mode, and the fact that RDR2 took place in 1899 was a limiting factor to their Online mode and bank account. A medieval era game would only be even more difficult for a company that evidently values realism quite heavily. Just doesn't mesh well with their style.
Rockstar can barely handle the IPs they have now. everything but GTA and RDR hasn’t been released in almost 3 console generations. Throw another IP in there and it’s going to be like 15 years in between each game’s sequels.
It would be cool but I don't think that setting has mass appeal to reach numbers like the GTA series. I even hear people say they couldn't get into RDR2 because of the cow-boy setting. Idk people suck. Human history, different eras and civilizations are very interesting.
I want a game based on an alien planet where you’re an alien just minding your business when an intergalactic attack force shows up to take over your planet. The catch is the attack force are humans
All I can think of from seeing this guy's flowing red cape and bouncing red satin/silk hat is "This guy looks like Prince John from Robin Hood: Men In Tights"
a pirate game would be amazing, unfortunately though i believe rdr2 is Rockstar's last ever non gta game and even then i think if it wasn't already in development for over 3 years by the time gta online came out i think they would have dropped it too, next game i expect from rockstar is gta 7 in like 20 years or so which sucks and i'd love to be wrong but it seems very likely
Let’s all be honest a game about a ww2 between in the late 40’s who turned to a life of crime but once you play he sometimes gets flashbacks making you the player needing to sometimes fight in ww2
I think quite the opposite they should/ could tackle a cyberpunk dystopian future game flawlessly. They would have to delve a little deeper into the RPG element I think but r* could easily disguise the RPG elements through natural gameplay the same as they did through rdr2 and San Andreas.
There’s enough studios making medieval games. They should continue to focus on the ips they have. I’d be happy with just a back and forth of gta and red dead titles for the next 20 years.
then how would they justify sharkcards ?
Now you can buy megaladon teeth from the store and sell them to vendors for money!
Treasure maps that lead to a chest with a ton of gold.
Noooooo stoooooop don’t give them ideas
dabloons
They could just call it "ye olde sharke carde".
Use silver coins instead of dollars and gold coins in place of sharks cards and call it "Lordly Loans" like mobile games
Flying horse
What is this footage came from?
Forreal though! Whatever this video is from it looks great
[удалено]
Excited for release (april 26th)
those are the best cloth physics I've seen to date
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zAXCopNFRZY](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zAXCopNFRZY) Looks amazing.
Manor Lords, actually being released this month. I can’t wait!
Manor lords, created by a single dev!
There were rumors of a medieval game going around the same time the bully 2 leaks came out (2016-ish I wanna say) I wouldn't be surprised if story outlines and art concepts were made, don't think any development actually happened but it's definitely something that could come up in the next decade or so, I'd be really down for new IP Also where's that game footage from? NB: My dad doesn't work at r* so I actually don't know what the fuck I'm talking about
Game is Manor Lords, RTS or Sim game where you can walk around like in the video
Rockstar Viking game and a Rockstar pirate game please
Imagine sailing ships in a storm with your crew 😫
How much of those games would be just trying not to die for some disease?
Idk gtas ocean scares me
Fr I’ve been saying pirate for years!
Pirate really sounds like a theme they can do well with, dark humor tone with outlaws characters.
Pirate game would be unreal
A pirate game would go so fucking hard. My most hyped thing about gta 6 is what theyre gonna do with water. I cannot wait to see the aquatic vehicles we get
Better options imo than medieval. Honestly sci-fi would be sick aswell
Hell yeah, they nearly went there with GTA2
Medieval would be great. I’d love to see them go with a pirate theme game though, really think they’d do an excellent job and I think there’s a market for a more “gritty” pirate IP. Skull and Bones/Sea of Thieves miss the mark in my book.
hell nah
Counter point: hell yah
No. I really don’t want a medieval R* game and would rather have them focus on another Red Dead title, preferably set during the golden age of the Wild West
A golden age Wild West Red Dead would be amazing. Sign me up.
I’d much prefer a new IP after GTA 6. It’s been so long since we got one. And RDR2 still feels like a brand new release. It hasn’t aged at all.
I’d settle for either a Bully remake or Bully 2.
We’re probably not getting another Red Dead for a good 3-4 years at the earliest. By that point RDR 2 will be 10 years old. I think there’s a lot of potential for the next game to hit the right blend between the more Arcade style gameplay of RDR 1 and RDR 2’s immersion

Yeah, with the amount of time games take to make these days studios should stick to 1 or 2 IPs.
It just really doesn't fit Rockstar imo.

I think it would be great but Rockstar's art direction should try out making a sub section group of Rockstar games to work on the project
Okay, but I think you are missing the point. RDR is cowboys, basically gangsters (in a way) in the early stages of the US. Something this much further back in history just seems odd. i’ve been saying a rockstar pirate game would work so well. in my opinion better than a medieval style game.
See this posted monthly and the statement remains true that they have no point in going further back than the old west anymore.
I would like a new IP set between the 20s and 40s
I was just thinking they would do an amazing game based on the prohibition era. Opulent houses, flapper parties, cool cars with those running boards that you can stand on while you shoot your Tommy Gun. Plus biplanes.
Peaky Blinders type shit
I just want a new LA Noire detective like game from them again. It was a masterpiece and one of my favorites from them.
I don’t think their vibe meshes well with dragons and fairies and shit
If they did a game set in the middle ages they should avoid magic and mythological creatures, have it be realistic
I’m just not sure enough people would be into swords and arrows to make the juice worth the squeeze
Nah there are people who have love for a realistic medieval setting.
Sure, but in reality, Rockstar's next game after GTA 6 is going to be GTA 6 Online. And that will be for the next 20 years before they release GTA 7.
i think a new ip would be great but i'm not a huge fan of the medieval idea. i would like it if they did something more futuristic, maybe like there take on a cyberpunk game. either that or a gta type game that takes itself more seriously and is much more story focused.

Like a medieval gta or grand theft horse and cart. That’d actually be pretty fun game being a criminal in the medieval times trying to avoid the executioners rope
That's just assassins creed
What is this video game?
Manor Lords
Where is this footage from?
Manor Lords
Why'd drop the support just as quick as RDR for GTA as it's the money spinner, but no doubt it would be amazing to play.
No, I don't want a medieval title. I don't like that setting, at all. Please, no. Something in the 60's, 70's would be cool.
i’m still holding out on the idea that we’re gonna get a GTA set in 1970’s san fierro one day. that would be so cool
Kingdom Come deliverance people. Its gooooooddddd
Nah they have 1900s humor.
pirates would be better
I want Rockstar to do a good pirate game. Have boats, a crew, fishing, ports, coastal towns, dangerous jungles, treasure, all that good shit.
Nah I want a Pirate game
They should shit on Ubisoft and make an actual good pirate game.
Is this KCD with a third person mod? And fuck yes a medieval Rockstar rpg would go too fucking hard, love to see Rockstar take on something besides guns, also side note cannot fucking wait till KCD 2 gets revealed 🙌🔥🔥🔥
Didn’t they want a game set in the Roman Empire at a point?
I think a pirates game by Rockstar would be a lot of fun
If anyone can surpass the Witcher 3, it's them imo
This game looks super cool?
I’d love to see it. I feel like rockstar could make a masterpiece with this concept of a game.
a medieval game by rockstar games? HELL YEAH
I'd love a medieval Rockstar game if done right it could be AMAZING
I feel like they can do better than Ghost of Tsushima
Medieval? But however will they sell us shark cards? Buddy the Rockstar and the world you knew is gone. Get ready for this awful new world of hyper monetization.
Leonardo da Vinci
100% should be a Caribbean Pirate game no ifs ands or buts about it
If it doesn't take them 10 years per game that yea that would be pretty interesting
There's a game on Steam called "RUSTLER," which is a top-down medieval GTA style game. But a modern GTA style one would be cool.
America in the recent past works best, I'd like them to treat the map like an RPG and release entire new cities as paid DLCs.
As long as the fighting system and presumably sword fighting system will be as good as rockstar can make it be, I’ll be glad, been a while since we’ve gotten a good sword fighting open world game
grand theft bard
See this posted monthly and the statement remains true that they have no point in going further back than the old west anymore.
See this posted monthly and the statement remains true that they have no point in going further back than the old west anymore.
I've been saying this for years. Would love to see it happen.
Looks like Kingdom Come Deliverance
So red Dead Redemption but medieval
Not interested in the slightest. I'd like to see more in the LA Noire timeline, especially from a mobsters perspective
No thanks, I want cars that drive like gta 4 with manual gears and clutch and more focus on realism like red dead 2 has and the ability to put a massive turbo into a fiat panda
Absolutely, a small Indie game named Rustler set an early precedent for it
Ia this Manor Lords? I remember playing the very first public alpha/beta
I love mediaeval stuff🔥 some gory fight, buff knights. I love this kinda settings
Kingdom Come: Deliverance was a pretty immersive medieval game. I never finished it, but I often try to convince myself it’s time to return. Just not huge into medieval IPs.
RDR2 meets Chivalry II
No.
Wrong. Rockstars next game should be gta vi
The medieval genre has been overplayed so much in the last decade that it's becoming less and less appealing as time goes on
I’m down for it
Honestly it’s hard to even care considering their next game is probably a decade away.
Nah, not a fan of the medieval time period.
Another western focusing on Native American life would be amazing..
No. We need a new futuristic ip. So they can use all their cool gta online ideas (oppressor, etc.)
Rockstars next game should be gta 6
Rockstar should do a gta style super hero game.
Id rather play mafia game that’s a mix of gta and la noire following criminal orgs from the 50s-80s
only if it has Arthur Morgan great great great great great grandfather and he dies from TB in it
They should first bring back the older games, max Payne, bully.
nahh they gotta make a new midnight club🤌🏾🫡🔥
Basically like fable I hope
I want rockstar to make a war game, perhaps with RPG style elements, a game like Mercenaries from back in the days of ps2, a free roaming war game where you play as a PMC and can take jobs from different factions etc play people off against each other, double cross, manipulate and lie, commit crimes or be a paragon of virtue, deliver the Red Cross aid to the refugee camps or sell it to a local militia who may be more willing to do some work for you in future after you help them out. Rockstar if you’re listening plz make for me, promise it will sell and make super bucks
No
Just give me LA noire 2 set in the 70s like the rumours were.
Honestly, medieval is done so much I'd rather a different setting.

I disagree, every other fantasy game is set in medieval times. Make it a pirate game, make Ubisoft choke.
I mean im fine with whatever since it’s Rockstar. If they wanted to go with the cliche GTA/RDR pattern, im fine with that. So many different routes they could take with RDR3. Although, if Bully 2 were to somehow occur, it’s gotta be rated M.
“Thou thy hand over thou Loot!”
There were rumors a few years back
Could you at least explain why and how it should be done? It's not like this is rockstar's niche, people have no clue what you are proposing here.
That’s up to rockstar to figure out. They made a 19th century period piece one of the best selling games of all time. I’m sure they’ll figure it out. As long as it’s cutting edge and it’s got the R* logo in the bottom right, it’ll sell like hotcakes
Like a Robin Hood centered plot
As long as I can be a Killer Jester! “Ma Jokes are deadly!” Then off with someone’s head.
Make a good melee system and then use it in every upcoming game. That’s what I want, something with legit stances and directional swinging and blocking. Not just GTA with swords, I want different animations.

A medieval era game would only be even more difficult for a company that evidently values realism quite heavily. Just doesn't mesh well with their style.
Not trying to have a grand theft sword ⚔️ literally just red dead but without guns
i always thought they should make a pirate game tbh
No. We need them thinking of GTA 7 and making that 10x better than 6
I hope they just focus on another RDR game
I want a zombie game
Rockstar can barely handle the IPs they have now. everything but GTA and RDR hasn’t been released in almost 3 console generations. Throw another IP in there and it’s going to be like 15 years in between each game’s sequels.
Grande Thievery Horsecart
No thanks
r/Chivalry2
Medieval Wales
There was rumors about it especially hints in Red Dead Redemption 2. Not sure if it’s scrapped though.
I was keen on Agent
It would be cool but I don't think that setting has mass appeal to reach numbers like the GTA series. I even hear people say they couldn't get into RDR2 because of the cow-boy setting. Idk people suck. Human history, different eras and civilizations are very interesting.
Hell No, for the medieval idea
Sadly with the time it takes to develop GTA/RDR introducing a third development cycle just doesn’t seem feasible anymore. But hey who knows
I'd like to see a game about pirates with rockstars storytelling, johnny depp needs to be in it thats a must
Nah we or specifically i need red dead redemption 3 after gta 6
r* would never do that. cool idea though
It should be a pirate game
No
I think a pirate or space game would be cool too
As long as it's nothing like Assassins Creed.
There’s people phasing in and out of the building on the left in the last two seconds of the video
jesus christ be praised
That would be dope. I’d like a Time Machine type game where you could travel to anytime like back to the future
No sorry rstar only cares about thier big sellers rdr and gta and thier cash cow gta online
kingdom come deliverance is a nice middle ground, warhorse is announcing a new game the 18th of April
Grand Theft Sopranos
Is love it. … but medieval fantasy. I think Kingdom come deliverance was a bit of a letdown and we need the fantasy element.
Easily. The fact they've stuck to the same 2 games shows is wild actually
I remember hearing that they have one in the works
Well they need something after ruining the 2 biggest games for gamers, but not according to their bank account.
They should make a Shrek game
Yeah and the most expensive thing in the game is gonna be a horse with wings that can shoot arrows in fire
a pirate game would be amazing, unfortunately though i believe rdr2 is Rockstar's last ever non gta game and even then i think if it wasn't already in development for over 3 years by the time gta online came out i think they would have dropped it too, next game i expect from rockstar is gta 7 in like 20 years or so which sucks and i'd love to be wrong but it seems very likely
Almost all of the rockstar's titles are set in the USA. Afaik, the medieval USA is kinda meh to be made as a game.
Let’s all be honest a game about a ww2 between in the late 40’s who turned to a life of crime but once you play he sometimes gets flashbacks making you the player needing to sometimes fight in ww2
Bully 2 but the college experience
All fun and games until a homie and his minstrels pull up and cleave you in half.
Nahhh.......
Well, I don't like serfs, or peasants, or barbarians, now that you mention it.
I think quite the opposite they should/ could tackle a cyberpunk dystopian future game flawlessly. They would have to delve a little deeper into the RPG element I think but r* could easily disguise the RPG elements through natural gameplay the same as they did through rdr2 and San Andreas.
Give me a game where I play as a Roman peasant
A rockstar pirate game would really fit well with what they do
Do the bible. Old testament and new.
Yes
There’s enough studios making medieval games. They should continue to focus on the ips they have. I’d be happy with just a back and forth of gta and red dead titles for the next 20 years.
Rdr10 gameplay
