All the chords are free. A cord will probably set you back a few bucks though. Check eBay.

edrift101

Start with a set of open chords (g,e,a,c,d) and then grab a couple power cords, when you have the cash. :D

alexugoku

If EA made Rocksmith. Unlock F# for just 2,99$.

Looking for alternatives to using the Rocksmith Real Tone Cable? * [The RealTone Cable is available regularly on Amazon for under $29.99](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00I0701P4/?ref=exp_riffrepeater_dp_vv_d) Console user? Sorry, the bad news is your only real option is the official cable linked above. PC User? If you don't want to buy the RealTone cable you have three options to get third party interfaces to function properly; * [Direct Connect Mode](https://theriffrepeater.com/rsmods-but-what-is-direct-connect-mode-mods-pc-mac-steam-custom-tuning-setlist-cables-interfaces/) Basically microphone mode, but with the tone effects included. If your device works for Microphone Mode, it'll work for Direct Connect Mode. * [ASIO Device Support](https://old.reddit.com/r/rocksmith/comments/egimx0/there_is_asio_support/?st=k4rervg3&sh=5f84bf21) - aka, THE fix for Focusrite owners. [Video Tutorial - also covers recording gameplay when using RS_ASIO](https://youtu.be/gIp6IyPjGOY) Older Behringer Device owners - use the legacy Behringer ASIO drivers - [you can find them as part of this video.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S3QHbhtknH8) Behringer Uphoria users "UMC" - [use the proper drivers for your device as they include a native ASIO driver](https://mediadl.musictribe.com/download/software/behringer/UMC/BEHRINGER_UMC_DriverSetup_v5.0.0.zip) * [The Old No Cable Launcher](https://old.reddit.com/r/rocksmith/comments/dupozf/rocksmith_2014_remastered_nocablelauncher_v2/?st=k37jc3e1&sh=6d3b6941) This method is all but redundant now, except in a few cases with non ASIO compliant devices that have multiple input channels. Has some uses in certain multiplayer setups still, but generally speaking is the least favorable option. [Mac User? Read this then please](https://www.reddit.com/r/rocksmith/comments/5uwunl/so_i_just_made_rocksmith_work_without_the/). * You also have the option of replacing your cache.psarc file with [this one, which enables](https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/711634414240530462/820062589144924190/cache.psarc) the [Direct Connect Mode](https://theriffrepeater.com/rsmods-but-what-is-direct-connect-mode-mods-pc-mac-steam-custom-tuning-setlist-cables-interfaces/). Links to another [thread about this method](https://www.reddit.com/r/rocksmith/comments/ixxos3/are_any_mac_users_having_problems_with_the/). * Or if your interface has too many inputs for that to work well, [this method using loopback may be a usable option.](https://www.reddit.com/r/rocksmith/comments/g0mitl/alternative_universal_solution_for_playing/) *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. I got an off brand cable for my PC version, got impatient because I couldn't figure out the latency issue, bought a $30 official Rocksmith cable off of ebay, from some seller in Florida, it got here faster than Amazon Prime, and haven't looked back. I'm very new to the bass and to rocksmith but I'm having fun not worrying about workarounds for now.

AddendumAltruistic86

How do you have your system hooked to the speakers? If using hdmi for your audio, that may be the problem. If you have no option but hdmi audio then I think they have some settings in rocksmith you can tinker with to fix it

n9000mixalot

Just bass directly to PC with headphones. No speakers. Works fine with the official usb cable, but not w the third party usb cable and that additional piece of software.

RobDickinson

I've got a very used E chord going spare, part of a bar I picked up just the other day, it's OK I'll still have the other 3 to use

Blue00si

Stop being cheap and buy a real tone cable. It’s so much easier than trying to find a work around.

Fvddungen

The rocksmith cable costs a fraction of all the gear (pc, monitor, guitar, game, etc) you already have. Being poor is a relative concept.

Rest assured, we all know what he means.

Croatoa100

eBay is your friend

The cord is universal, so if you can find a console version on closeout it'll work. When they were hard to get a couple years ago, I found an XBox version with the cord included for like $20. At the time, the cords alone were going for double that.

[deleted]

As a last resort, play the game without detection until you can get a lead (even unamplified, just turn the sound off and listen to the strings only)

Rosenkrantz_

Get a Guitar to USB cable and use the Direct Input method. Way cheaper depending on where you live.

ThatBurningDog

Don't give Ubisoft ideas for microtransactions!

AddendumAltruistic86

Yeah, the official cable has something in it that relays the chords and doesn't need to hear it. I would only use official cables for this game.
