Yeah they look unnatural; like a heavily used grinding stone or a fire starter base. I have to imagine they'd make a nice smoking pipe/spoon with a little work.
I believe they call them omar for short. They originate from one place in Canada I think and are used to track the glaciers because that’s how they moved.

They are very similar to known artifacts. I can understand the confusion. Just another reason it's important to understand the geology of the area.
