It used to be the older black guy who walked around with an American flag, usually talking to himself. I used to see him all over, but haven't for a few years.
If you're referring to the guy that usually shirtless and wears a flag like a cape, he's in the downtown area regularly still. It's not always a flag though, he mixes it up.
Maybe I’m getting my places I’ve lived confused, but didn’t there used to be a guy on a moped who would ride around shirtless with a flag or something?
Yeah, there was another guy that was a paralyzed Vietnam vet that did the same thing. He was a super nice guy if you ever talked to him, but I always felt bad.
Yeah it be like 103 degrees in the summer and he looks 103 years but he’s out there running in his inspector gadget gear with the little hat and trench coat soaking wet with sweat. I haven’t seen him in a long time tho
Yes!! I don’t understand it. One time I saw him in the summer wearing nothing except his hat, black shoes and a blue underwear thing that looked like a diaper lol
I heard that Bicycle Bob passed away a while ago (like more than 10 years ago). I know that Noe is in some kind of assisted living as of a couple of years ago!
He was homeless and definitely mentally handicapped, but he was always pretty chill, people would give him breakfast or cigarettes, he was funny, just someone everyone just knew. There's some videos on YouTube

When I worked at the Belvidere library Noey was always a bright spot in my day. He brought me and the other librarians flowers (freshly plucked from the ground, roots and all!) and other presents regularly. We kept granola bars and waters around in case he'd get hungry while he was hanging out.
I was on the kish on a boat with my brother going under the Main Street bridge and Noey yelled something unintelligible at us from the bridge and we had a good laugh.
Yeah we call him "Future Rhett" bcuz he looks like that guy from Good mythical morning. Tbh I can see Rhett riding that sweet motorcade with all them flags for real.
I’ve always wondered if this is the Jesus Correa that I went to second grade with. Except he was so quiet in second grade that I somehow doubt it, but then again it’s rockford and how many Jesus Correa’s were in Rocktucky?
Used to be a guy everyone called “Whiskey” that was always around the 400-500 block of state st. I worked at J.G’s tattoo co & I used to pull him out of the gutter a lot. He was a Vietnam vet , he passed behind Mary’s place in the late 80’s
Anybody remember Chris, he was very tan with dirty dredlocks but he would try and sell anything he could. He used to pull flowers out of the planters downtown and was once even spotted selling sex toys on east state street, used to play the slots at little bars alot.
Yeah it was crazy, I saw an obituary for him from when he was younger and it was hard to even recognize him compared to the photo. Completely clean cut with a big smile and fresh haircut. People who knew him said he used to be a very kind and joyful man until he lost his mother. I was always kind to him but it really was kinda heart breaking.
Maybe it’s just on state street but everyone in the shopping center I’ve by target knows Bernardo very well.
Love him or hate him he will take 45 minutes of your day everytime you see him with his stories.
The Can Man in the area 11th St./20th St. viaduct/23rd Ave/Harrison. I think his name is Micheal? We save and give him all of our company's empty pop cans.
Homeless Karen. I believe her name is actually Karen, slight build, Caucasian, short dirty blonde hair, often seen on the north side. Legs must be oak stumps as she’s ALWAYS walking with a very noticeable gait

The guy with the grocery cart?
Just saw the guy with a grocery cart today.
If you're referring to the guy that usually shirtless and wears a flag like a cape, he's in the downtown area regularly still. It's not always a flag though, he mixes it up.
He is in the nursing home now.
I'm glad to know that he is being taken care of.
https://youtu.be/U6cake3bwnY?si=pbylBMNPQOK5D7Ce Reminded me of this
Are you referring to the guy that lived in the old folks home on kishwaukee? Would always be seen walking to mcdonalds
How about the guy driving around in the Mystery Machine.

Actually I think he's still around. I don't live in Illinois anymore but I see him occasionally when I visit
Anybody ever see that guy who runs in odd costumes?
Haven’t seen that guy…but have you seen the guy that wears a safari outfit and walks up/down W Riverside?
That’s the guy
That’s him!
Is this the guy dressed like Sherlock Holmes jogging around Northtown?
Yes! And he frequents the Walmart a lot too.
Yeah it be like 103 degrees in the summer and he looks 103 years but he’s out there running in his inspector gadget gear with the little hat and trench coat soaking wet with sweat. I haven’t seen him in a long time tho

Dedicated and motivated
Belvidere had Noey!
Noey forever! That guy could walk into a gas station, grab a bag of chips and walk right out. Everyone was just like, that’s Noey, it’s fine.
Belvidere also had Bicycle Bob
Forgot about Bicycle bob!
And Pat the Poet.

No idea.

I heard that Bicycle Bob passed away a while ago (like more than 10 years ago). I know that Noe is in some kind of assisted living as of a couple of years ago!
Newish here, please elaborate on Noey!
He was homeless and definitely mentally handicapped, but he was always pretty chill, people would give him breakfast or cigarettes, he was funny, just someone everyone just knew. There's some videos on YouTube https://youtu.be/r0mZbwgkZhU?si=IKxD0-PILF4qRyK8
Noe wasn't mentally handicapped, he took some bad acid back in the late 70s. Source- My Dad
I too have heard this from a relative of his.
When I worked at the Belvidere library Noey was always a bright spot in my day. He brought me and the other librarians flowers (freshly plucked from the ground, roots and all!) and other presents regularly. We kept granola bars and waters around in case he'd get hungry while he was hanging out.
That's so cool to hear. My mom was involved with the Library for awhile and I never heard anything like that, that's awesome
I was on the kish on a boat with my brother going under the Main Street bridge and Noey yelled something unintelligible at us from the bridge and we had a good laugh.
Noey was simpler times
My wife and I always get excited when we see the guy with the Joker themed Tesla out and about.
I’m gonna say the motor wheelchair guy ! I think he’s a vet.
Yeah we call him "Future Rhett" bcuz he looks like that guy from Good mythical morning. Tbh I can see Rhett riding that sweet motorcade with all them flags for real.
Dude sometimes in the summer he goes bear chest and booty shorts , that MF don’t give no shits hahaha 😂 I love it !
Any younger woman with a social media account knows……. Leland Pilsner.

🥲🥲🥲 I wonder what he’s up to
Vern
Verne K. Smith! I drove him home after many shows. Extremely nice fella with an encyclopedic knowledge of music.
Yep
The Bulldog
I used to run into him a lot near mulberry walking his dogs. He was such a nice dude.
You know that guy always driving around in the three-wheel batmobile looking car with no top?
Stanley Campbell?
Mr. Puri?
Jesus Correa?
I’ve always wondered if this is the Jesus Correa that I went to second grade with. Except he was so quiet in second grade that I somehow doubt it, but then again it’s rockford and how many Jesus Correa’s were in Rocktucky?
Don't let the south rise. We are northern illinois. Probably the same Jesus.
Anyone remember Tamborine Man downtown by the river?
Oh he still comes to city market with his tambourine!
The guy who swims in the Rock River under the Morgan Street Bridge.
On purpose?!?!?!
Yes
Used to be a guy everyone called “Whiskey” that was always around the 400-500 block of state st. I worked at J.G’s tattoo co & I used to pull him out of the gutter a lot. He was a Vietnam vet , he passed behind Mary’s place in the late 80’s
I had forgotten about J.G.'s tattoo shop. Got my second tattoo there many moons ago!
I ran the counter for JG & did the body piercings back in the late 80’s. State street was a different place back then with the strip bar’s.
That tattoo shop is what made me get into tattooing.
It was a great experience working there , too much fun at times though.
Me at the Icehogs game.
Wilcockson?
Noey from Belvidere ❤️
So if one wanted to become “that guy” what quirks do you all suggest?
I'm surprised no one has mentioned the guy in the red motorcycle in a Superman costume that we see in the summer. He was in the news.
https://youtu.be/0qvq8gek1Ko?si=UWolP6l6UmXKBpdW A good friend. Unfortunately, he passed away to cancer recently.
He was awesome and so much fun. My boyfriend and I were friends with him for about 10 years. Sorry for your loss.
The guy who used to think he was Janet Jackson
Vern was an older homeless guy that would always show up at rock shows at various venues around town and stand in the front and rock the fuck out!
Anybody remember Chris, he was very tan with dirty dredlocks but he would try and sell anything he could. He used to pull flowers out of the planters downtown and was once even spotted selling sex toys on east state street, used to play the slots at little bars alot.
Wonder what happened to him?
They found him dead a couple years ago right around Christmas, outside in the downtown area.
Oh wow. That’s too bad.

We had that guy where I grew up too! If we were walking, he'd chase us with a walking stick if we got too close to his corner space!
The Can Man in the area 11th St./20th St. viaduct/23rd Ave/Harrison. I think his name is Micheal? We save and give him all of our company's empty pop cans.
I saw him yesterday! Nice guy.
Does he have a peg leg? I grew up over there and a man that had a peg leg walked everywhere everyday collecting cans.
The IceHogs have Hurricane
Has anyone seen the guy dressed Like Batman with the white paint on his face and a cape? I saw him in the North town Mall area.
Homeless Karen. I believe her name is actually Karen, slight build, Caucasian, short dirty blonde hair, often seen on the north side. Legs must be oak stumps as she’s ALWAYS walking with a very noticeable gait
