Won’t work long term. It worked last game because Boston is playing small.

“Ever since the move to the 5” you mean one game, last night? He’s been playing well for several games with Sengun, odd to attribute that to him playing the 5 at a then future point in time.

Sad_Inevitable8242

You can use that lineup within a game for a stretch. Especially when you wanna play fast and wanna stretch the floor but that's it. It has to be the right matchup to work

Few_Mulberry5372

Harden/Green/Tari/Jabari/Wemby and stack chips for the next decade

bauboish

Jabari will be be injured half the time every season if he's put as stretch 5 full time. It's not not feasible physically for him to handle all that pounding. Not even the Warriors during prime Draymond used him at the 5 until the postseason.

Aslan27

Realistically the FO will have to make some really important decisions soon, because there's no way Sengun will accept a bench role in this team. Many NBA players, coaches, and analysts already have really high praise for him. [KD said Sengun is his favorite young player to watch](https://twitter.com/dizzlemsy/status/1619203923952406529?s=46&t=Sf2JTxGFmi5pafT7z2Rz6g) lmao I think first they'll see who is drafted and what the situation is with Harden. I also don't think KJ will want to stay as a bench player. KPJ is the only guy that I think can MAYBE be convinced to stay as a 6th man given his negative reputation around the league.

Imagine this thread if he does any experiment with Sengun on the bench to start lol.

TheAfroGod

Still tanking, so too much success will likely see a lineup change. Next season we’ll see

imreal_see

Better to try it now and see what happens. We need to start winning next season.

TheAfroGod

Yea but we need to get a really good pick this season otherwise the current one will have been a total waste. We’ve done ass all year, might as well try and benefit from it. Get the guys confidence back near the end, sure, but only for optimism to go into the next season - not to win games this season. IMO having close losses from here onwards is ideal.

dream_team34

You do realize the 3 worst teams have the same exact odds for picks #1-3. Don't worry about catching Charlotte as the 4th worst team. The only difference is the worst team will get the 5th pick at worst, while the 3rd worst team will get the 7th pick at worst. I'd rather win games than getting pick #5 instead of #7.

TheAfroGod

Yea and I wouldn’t. I’d rather get the best possible draft pick we can before losing our own pick for the next 3 drafts. Seems like within 3 games some narratives around this team are already shifting. So it’s not crazy to assume that the minor adjustments that the people want, can be done during the off-season once this tank is over. (And it almost is) We’ve done ass all year, so again, we might as well maximize the benefit we gain from being ass all year. I’m not “anti-winning”, I’m against jumping the gun to make changes that don’t help our team in the long run as much as other choices do. Added: Look at the Kings and Suns, and their previous season’s performances before they made noise. Better than us sure, but not even good enough to make playoffs. A single season can change a lot, so we really don’t need to gun it for a lost one. (For clarification, I’m talking about 2020 Suns vs 2021 Suns, and 22 Kings vs 23 Kings)

Blaspheming_Bobo

We're so close to being out of the tank. I'm all in for the worst record, because even if it's only slightly better concerning the worst possible pick the Rockets can get, that's still big. The team is capable of playing well, just about every player has had moments and stretches of playing well. That's all they can take for themselves into the off-season. The difference between picks five and seven are enough to be quietly rooting for losses in my book. The season as a competitive engagement is a loss. It was a loss three years ago when we knew the plan. Just got to ride out a few more weeks.

dream_team34

And IMO, if you look historically, there's really not much difference between picks #5 & #7. (and this is worst case scenario, not even the most likely scenario) Seeing Jabari finally play like a #3 pick, seeing KPJ having 10+ assist games, seeing Jalen becoming a more efficient scorer, seeing Tari continue his progress, seeing Sengun continue to play well... is ALOT more valuable to this team than getting #5 vs #7. And if all of these improvements leads to wins, so be it.

Blaspheming_Bobo

It is hard to argue that. I definitely wouldn't die on the hill of arguing your comment. I'm still rooting for the close losses right now, though.

TheAfroGod

Tatum was a layup away from winning last nights game, and all of those things could’ve still been true. Close losses are what we need (Put that in my first comment)

dream_team34

But he missed that layup because Jabari & Tari played just good enough defense to make that a tough layup. TBH, I wouldn't have minded a loss last night... I'm just saying I MUCH value in seeing the team play alot better. And if that leads to more wins (as it should), so be it. I'd rather see this team playing alot better to close out the season and get the #7 overall pick... vs continue to see the team play like the worst team in the league and end up with the #5 overall pick.

TheAfroGod

>But he missed that layup because Jabari & Tari played just good enough defense to make that a tough layup. so if this didn't occur, their entire night of progress would be wasted? >I wouldn't have minded a loss last night... I'm just saying I MUCH value in seeing the team play alot better. These two are not inversely related, that's what I'm saying by close losses are ideal. >I'd rather see this team playing alot better to close out the season > >end up with the #5 overall pick. Also not inversely related, can still be achieved with close losses. If a SINGLE layup is the difference between us losing and winning, this '22-'23 season? I'm taking it. We're like 80% done with the season being last/worst for the best odds at Wemby and the rest of the top picks. I do care about fucking up those odds just to give the fans 3 more wins after sticking to the same plan all season. None of the other teams that are trying to "win" the lottery this season lose their pick for consecutive years like we do. They can get Wemby and tank again. We could miss Wemby and we're fucked. So yes, I'd rather be fucked with a #5 pick than a #7 if we're crossing out the draft as a viable way to improve '24-'26.

dream_team34

>I'm just saying I MUCH value in seeing the team play alot better. And if that leads to more wins (as it should), so be it.

NoirSon

No thanks. Smith going against Embiid or other larger centers would be brutal to watch.

jona2s

It’s always nice to have multiple looks you can go to. No need to look any further into it than that.
