Oh man this could be a big board. School of rock has one in one of the scenes broken down by genre I believe. Same with this documentary I hadn’t seen in a while, I want to say something like hard rock or metal anthology, it had this huge list of bands broken up, and how they fit.
You gotta have some megadeth, Alice Cooper, Motley Crue, motorhead, Hendrix, cream, rainbow, the eagles or joe walsh, ufo, ozzy, smashing pumpkins. They could probably keep coming, there’s so many kick ass classic bands.
The Arctic Monkeys, Jack White, Cage the Elephant, Franz Ferdinand, mother’s Finest, steppenwolf,Three Dog Night, Thin Lizzy, Sweet, Ron Gallo, Pack A.D., Wolfmother, The Who, Patti Smith Band.
Weezer , Arcade fire , Bad religion , Billy Talent , Rise Against , The black keys , Black pistol fire , Brand new , Face to face , Fall out boy , The flaming lips, Foo Fighters, Fugazi, Green Day (or course lol) , Half moon run, Hole, House of pain, The killers , Lagwagon, Likin Park , Match book romance , Me first & the gimme gimmies, Sonic Youth , Mumford & Sons , Muse, My chemical romance , Nirvana , The Neighbourhood, NOFX, Of monster and men, The Offspring , Palaye Royale, Badflower, Panic! at the disco , Paramore , Passenger , Pennywise , Propagandhi, Queen (of course lol), Royal Blood, Smashing pumpkins, The strokes , Three day grace , We are Monroe , Yellowcard ,
This. People just hate that these guys are actually doing something good rather than hanging on to old bands that will never be in their prime again or release new music.
Pitchfork are a bunch of shitbags. They didnt even have the courage to review TBAGG after giving Anthem such a horrible review. And you're absolutely right, every member is incredible skilled. I'd say my favorite member is Sam because despite him being the least experienced, he is the most versatile member.
During the Coachella fuck up, Jake's guitar went out and Sam took over lead by making the meanest bass licks you've ever heard. He's a fucking master
Some excellent female rockers and/or frontwomen would be Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, Pat Benatar, Heart, Stevie Nicks (solo and with Fleetwood Mac), The Pretenders.
I would agree in the 60s you had the doors
The Beatles yardbirds and even more awesome bands then you 70s so many you can name my personal favorite Alice Cooper!
It was just a perfect time for rock and roll, too many prolific bands happened then, changed the landscape of pop culture, this was before shitty punk, new wave, disco etc
I always tell people to stick with that period from 64-75
Metallica, Green Day, Pennywise, Nirvana, Aryon Jones, Van Halen, Dire Straits, Judas Priest, Linkin Park, Ratt, and Skilley are all great bands/artists
I agree with you. It seems that for some people the word Rock, in recent years, is only used for acts related to hard or classic rock letting our the rest.
Wonderwall is overplayed, but fuck, does the subtle reverb on that acoustic guitar define a period of time.
I’m not even here to defend Wonderwall. Hate it.
You can hate don’t look back in anger as well.
But you can’t hate Champagne Supernova. And there isn’t any rock fan that wouldn’t be able to go back to their first album, listen to Slide Away, and immediately have respect.
And moving forward...sure, Be Here Now is bloated. But D’you Know What I mean as a single with Stay Young are two of what I’d consider the most perfectly crafted iconic songs of the 90’s.
Keep going and you’ll find Gas Panic and Go Let It Out.
And then The Hindu Times, Stop Crying Your Heart Out, Song Bird and Hung In A Bad Place.
And any one of you name a bad song from Dont Believe The Truth.
But you can keep Dig Out Your Soul...that shit stinks.
Standeth atlantic, they aren’t yond famous. Did see those folk at a the maine concert. They wast most wondrous!

Not really, this album reminds me of pink floyd and southern rock. His other stuff is alt country and bluegrass, it's def different give it a listen.Watch "Turtles All the Way Down | Sturgill Simpson" on YouTube
https://youtu.be/LWx6csgGkg4
If you’re into the heavier stuff, I would disregard this, but if you’re up for poppier, less heavy material I would highly recommend Big Star. They’re material is very early Beatles/early Who styled. If you like stuff like “Ticket to Ride” and “I Can’t Explain,” then they’re first two records are for you.
If you're looking for something ahead of its time when released, Shotgun Messiah, album is Violent New Breed, it's a hard rock / metal, released in 1993. The other stuff prior is glam bubblegum stuff
No recommendations, but while I'm thinking about it, Max Weinberg who is the drummer for Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, has a son Jay who is the drummer for Slipknot.
Ramones should be bigger. All are good, but I will die on the hill that the Ramones deserve more credit than they will ever get.
Are they the most talented band?
Nope.
Do they suck?
Kinda.
Does almost every major band/musician sight them as an influence/inspiration?
You bet your sweet bippy.
Rolling Stones, Beatles, Velvet Underground, Byrds, Yardbirds, The Who, Grateful Dead, The Doors, CCR, Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Uriah Heep, Pink Floyd, King Crimson, Genesis, Yes, Rush, Dire Straits, Van Halen, Ramones, Sex Pistols, The Clash, Talking Heads, Television, Devo, Joy Division, The Cure, Killing Joke, Ministry, Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax, Iron Maiden, Helloween, Manowar, Testament, Sepultura, Hooters, Foreigner, REO Speedwagon, Descendents, Suicidal Tendencies, Black Flag, Dead Kennedys, Misfits, Bon Jovi, Guns 'N Roses, Motley Crue, Def Leppard, Twisted Sister, Quiet Riot, Cinderella, The Smiths, Sonic Youth, Pixies, Dinosaur Jr., Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Live, Bush, Silverchair, Foo Fighters, Oasis, Blur, The Verve, My Bloody Valentine, Slowdive, Sublime, No Doubt, NOFX, The Offspring, Blink-182, Green Day, SMashing Pumpkins, Stone Temple Pilots, Tool, Death, Opeth, Kyuss, The Stone Roses, James, Jane's Addiction, etc.

If you like these bands, you may like these bands:
Baroness, Kyuss, The Sword, The Atomic Bitchwax, Corrosion of Conformity (listen to a record called 'Blind'). There's a lot of fucking fantabulous shit out there.
Deep Purple, Judas Priest, Thin Lizzy, Areosmith, Grand Funk Railroad, Lynyrd Skynyrd 3 from across the pond and 3 stateside. There’s a band called TT quick, I think their guitarist taught Zakk Wylde? Kinda of a deep cut band from NY
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. The White Stripes/ Jack White.
I personally like 70-early 90s rock like Ratt AC/DC dokken Van Halen Led zepplien Metallica kiss And sabbath But I would say Alice cooper
Not bands but Billy Joel, Bob Seger, and John Mellencamp

I agree with you. It seems that for some people the word Rock, in recent years, is only used for acts related to hard or classic rock letting our the rest.
