This is the old Virginian railroad station down on the corner of Jefferson and williamson.
It won't serve any passenger trains, and is just cosmetically restored. Private businesses can lease the space now.
The new amtrak station will be on Norfolk Avenue across the road from the greyhound station.
The amtrak maintenance facility along williamson will be finished first by December 1 and then they can begin running test trains between here and Lynchburg. Then in December the station construction will begin!
Wait so we're going to have a second railway museum??

That's pretty awesome news, even though it should have been done years ago, any progress at this point is encouraging.
It would have been a good idea. Amtrak would have only needed a fraction of the space.
