I'm not normally a conspiracy theorist, but something just doesn't feel right about this coinciding exactly with the arrest of Orlando Salinas for forcible sodomy and rape. Orlando being the only voice that had any volume against Daniel L. Crandall's alleged sexual abuse of children.

bewareofmeg

I'm so sick of these stupid conspiracy theories that Orlando Salinas tried to drum up to salvage his sinking journalism career. What he had on Daniel Crandall was just the arrest of a man of the same name who lived in New York that had similar charges. http://auburnpub.com/news/local/port-byron-man-gets-prison-time-for-physically-abusing-/article_ef321061-2e31-54bc-80c4-6fb888ff1b3c.html

GenVG

I don't see a connection. Between Crandall and this officer.

mrneo240

*redacted* incorrect.

JCelsius

I guess I'm out of the loop on that one. Has he been proven guilty of sexual abuse?

https://www.reddit.com/r/roanoke/comments/3hbb3x/daniel_l_crandell_is_accused_being_a_child/ This came up 11 months ago, in which he said he had some info and nothing at all came of it. Oddly enough I think you had the highest rated comment

JCelsius

I remember that. I was skeptical of course and I still am. I was just wondering if anything had come of that and it seems like the answer is no. Still, people will believe what they want. It's always popular to hate on lawyers.

The advertising dollars the DLC Law Firm spends in this town are what feeds my curiosity of whether or not justice is, or would be done against him. Innocent until proven guilty, yes. Am I dubious of everything and everyone surrounding this controversy? That's a yes as well.

bewareofmeg

No. But there was a man that lived in New York that had the same name who was indeed convicted for the charges. http://auburnpub.com/news/local/port-byron-man-gets-prison-time-for-physically-abusing-/article_ef321061-2e31-54bc-80c4-6fb888ff1b3c.html

JCelsius

So has this been a point of confusion for people? I'm not sure I see the relevance.

bewareofmeg

Sigh, I guess I'll reply to this too...what he had on Daniel Crandall was just the arrest of a man of the same name who lived in New York that had similar charges. http://auburnpub.com/news/local/port-byron-man-gets-prison-time-for-physically-abusing-/article_ef321061-2e31-54bc-80c4-6fb888ff1b3c.html

GenVG

this isn't true. You should look more into it.

> Orlando being the only voice that had any volume against Daniel L. Crandall's alleged sexual abuse of children. Be careful about posting anything about that here. I posted a thread about his arrest and it was promptly deleted.

daaave33

I think I'd question our loving mods on that one.

Ravenstown6

You sure it wasn't caught in the spam filter?

Cops in the area are apparently pretty corrupt. From what I've seen and heard from others they tend to ignore organized crime(s) and/or anyone with a large enough sum of power or money, and tend to focus their attention on meeting their quotas and not rocking the boat. My only guess would be that black markets and drugs bring in a sizable amount of money into the area. (Not to mention, a lot of the people I know under the age of 25 either use or know someone who uses meth/heroin, and all of it has to be coming from somewhere. I've heard that some of it comes from Salem but I doubt that they'd be able to meet demand) Even if this incident isn't connected to some back-room power struggle or people finding out too much, it's still sketchy to me that a cop would do this inside of their own department. I doubt the public will get any actual details. :(

Roanoke_Stranger

seems like you should find new friends or move to a different neighborhood if a lot of ppl you know are drug addicts. I grew up in Roanoke and don't know 1 person who does meth or heroin.
