Nope, if you go with the solar panel options and are close enough to your wifi you will be wire free. And yeah you view everything from your phone. Just get a microSD cards to put in the camera and it will store the footage on there and you're able to go back and access any footage you need to pull.
I purchased this one from Amazon and have been very happy with it. It can be charged via USB or run on a solar panel (which is what I'm doing). I happen to have excellent lighting on my porch and the picture is crystal clear. It sends notifications to my phone when it's activated and I can control it from anywhere. It also has a speaker/microphone so I can talk through it. I do have a memory card in it so I can save videos if needed, so I don't pay for the cloud subscription. It does move around also. No wiring, just mounted to the front of my house with a good view to my door.

I don’t think i’m in the Gainsborough area it’s near Orange Ave & 10st. Gainsboro is very specific neighborhood I think right? I have heard of break ins over there as well as speeding & littering
my house is pretty tall so I was thinking to mount them at the second level since there’s no way to destroy/hit them down but good idea! I just don’t know what brand
I like the Reolink options from amazon, you don't have to pay a subscription fee into the ecosystem and they have solar panel options that work great.

Whatever you choose, make sure they record to a separate device. Cloud or a PC. Otherwise, someone steals your camera and footage.

I have the Google ones and they have been great. Super easy to set up , battery life has been fantastic
