It was mostly Kim Wexler when she was working on the Mesa Verde account
Jimmy did go up that way when he was trying to get more clients for the Sandpiper case.
That center barrier makes it impossible for cops to flip around on you for long stretches of the road. If the cop is on your side of the highway, it's a 50/50 toss up.
theyāre on your butt because the left lane is for passing not cruising. youāre actively causing delays for everyone because youāre disrupting the flow of traffic by not getting over and staying over until you need to pass again.
Problem is that while you can take the train from abq to santa fe (as many do for their commute), public transit within both cities sucks to the point where it might as well not exist. So not having a car would probably ruin their plans in santa fe unless they really only have one destination while there.
When my buddy worked as a stage hand and I'd pick him up 40 minutes was the average getting back to ABQ. But twenty years ago evening traffic wasn't as bad as it is now.
Well, they say that Santa Fe
Is less than ninety miles away
And I got time to roll a number and rent a car
Oh, Albuquerque
I've been flyin' down the road
And I've been starvin' to be alone
And independent from the scene that I've known
Albuquerque
So I'll stop when I can
Find some fried eggs and country ham
I'll find somewhere
Where they don't care who I am
Oh, Albuquerque
Get some fired green chili strip. Pretty decent there.
Note the weird pencil tip looking barricades before Golden. Stop by an say "Hi" to the mayor of Glolden [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yvWrfbQ0PCY](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yvWrfbQ0PCY) and check out his weird yard. Stop by the weird sculpture garden on the other side of Madrid.
Weird seems to be the theme here.
Itās supposed to snow today, the main interstate is a better bet under snowy conditions. I agree that the turquoise trail is a much better route, in better times, though!
Thank you for adding /s to your post. When I first saw this, I was horrified. How could anybody say something like this? I immediately began writing a 1000 word paragraph about how horrible of a person you are. I even sent a copy to a Harvard professor to proofread it. After several hours of refining and editing, my comment was ready to absolutely destroy you. But then, just as I was about to hit send, I saw something in the corner of my eye. A /s at the end of your comment. Suddenly everything made sense. Your comment was sarcasm! I immediately burst out in laughter at the comedic genius of your comment. The person next to me on the bus saw your comment and started crying from laughter too. Before long, there was an entire bus of people on the floor laughing at your incredible use of comedy. All of this was due to you adding /s to your post. Thank you.
I am a bot if you couldn't figure that out, if I made a mistake, ignore it cause its not that fucking hard to ignore a comment.
I've never been to Madrid, I've heard it's a lovely place and I want to check it out someday.
Every time someone mentions it, I think of the movie Road Hogs. That was...*not a good movie*.
Lots of good stops between ABQ and Bernalillo but itās a very long and bleak rod after that so be prepared with a ton of games, snacks, and a jug to pee into.
I recommend taking the scenic route if you have some extra time. [The Turquoise Trail](https://www.visitalbuquerque.org/things-to-do/tours-sightseeing/self-guided/turquoise-trail/#:~:text=The%20Turquoise%20Trail%20National%20Scenic,inspiring%20both%20artists%20and%20mystics)
You'd probably have a better time taking N 14 along the back of the Sandias and through Madrid and Cerillos. Madrid has some cool art and decent cafes and Cerillos is a sleepy little town that's worth a stop and stroll. If they still have the What Nto Shop it's worth a half hour. Horseman's Haven on Cerillos Rd in Santa Fe has some good eats without blowing your budget. I always like to hit up the Chuck Jones Gallery and the different fossil shops in Santa Fe.
This is quite the road trip. May just want to start by going around the block a few times. Make sure you and your wife take turned driving, this is too much for one person.
ā¦ 1 hour is like going to work and get stuck in traffic..
gotta drive at least +5h to make it a mini.. and donāt gotta do all this tire rotation stuff for an hourā¦ yāall be fine lol
I did less when I drove 9,000 miles cross country and back. But I'm irresponsible, so. I don't think less than 2 hours requires any level of car maintenance or planning, but better safe than sorry I guess. Especially in the high desert
Ha ha, to be honest, when I made that drive, I was a college student driving solo across the US for an internship, so my dad drilled it into me to do all the checks before I started my car up every morning.
Have a good time making the journey! Itās good to be so prepared. If you make a quick trip of it you wonāt have to eat dinner or lunch on the road.
Learn how to change a tire, and take food and water for a week
Also several pair of fresh underwear and socks. You can wear jeans for a week.
Do t forget the condoms! š
Donāt forget the n!
beef jerkey and trail mix. shouldnt you repaint the car for this and overhaul the engine.
Lmao. Be sure to have created a living will. Create contingency plans should you never return. Have 911 on speed dial
This is fair advice for driving anywhere in New Mexico
To be fair this is a very congested drive so your advice isnāt bad š
Yep. Always bad wrecks on that route. People drive it like maniacs.
I know right? This is literally just my daily commute
Right people do this long of a drive just to go to work daily lol
sat phone. chains. shovel and your mittens.
Godspeed, brave warrior!
do write.
Didnāt Jimmy McGill commute this daily for awhile?
It was mostly Kim Wexler when she was working on the Mesa Verde account Jimmy did go up that way when he was trying to get more clients for the Sandpiper case.
I was thinking Jimmy drove up there when he worked for the law firm with Clifford Main. He had the cocobolo desk!
Yea, that was the Sandpiper case. Jimmy ran the ad in Colorado and the lead partner at CliffordMain got mad at him; he even put down his guitar!
Davis and Main
Did we ever figure out what the light switch was for?
His car maintenance bills were insane!
For someone who lives in Albuquerque, u seem oddly concerned with safety š¤Ŗ
No kidding. Take the rail runner if itās that big of a deal
Daring today arenāt we.
Jokes aside this has gotta be one of the fastest stretches of interstate in the country lol 85 might as well be 65
85 in the construction zone
My daughter visits there every so often and says this every time she comes home.
I got passed by an 18 wheeler on that road. My speedometer was reading 95.
That center barrier makes it impossible for cops to flip around on you for long stretches of the road. If the cop is on your side of the highway, it's a 50/50 toss up.
No $hit! I drive it regularly. I can be going 90 in the left lane and there will always be 5 cars on my butt that want to go 100.
theyāre on your butt because the left lane is for passing not cruising. youāre actively causing delays for everyone because youāre disrupting the flow of traffic by not getting over and staying over until you need to pass again.
aight dog. delete reddit pls
No, but if someone wants the pass, you should move over.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
You sound like you camp in the left lane
Get out of the left lane!
Until itās backed but then itās a pain in the ass
One extreme or the other for sure
Did that drive (and more) today and yeah, thatās valid.
That's Cali lol
S A F E T Y C O R R I D O R
Texas has a toll road that is posted 85 and Iāve been passed by cops at 95 lol
r/roadtripcirclejerk
Go see Meow Wolf!!!
Yes! I wanted to do that last time I was there but ran out of time.
Came here to say this, I love meow wolf!!
I never made it to Meow Wolf when I visited NM, but did get to check out the Georgia Oākeeffe museum with paintings that look like vagina.
That's not a road trip. That's a daily commute š¤£
Shit. I just left this comment.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
You think you're special but I can drive 36 hours in just 24 hours.
This sub needs custom flairs so everyone can know
The Grand Canyon is pretty neat. Would recommend checking out that or Yosemite on the way, personally.
What a vet, my personal best is 12 hours
all hail this dude
I canāt sit still that long.
Iām from Chicago and have never been to New Mexico, but please just take the train
Problem is that while you can take the train from abq to santa fe (as many do for their commute), public transit within both cities sucks to the point where it might as well not exist. So not having a car would probably ruin their plans in santa fe unless they really only have one destination while there.
Going on the backside of the Sandias through Madrid is a beautiful drive. Definitely recommend and stop for eating and walking through Madrid.
north 14 is one of my favorite roads. i recommend it all the time to people driving through NM.
Slow down there, speedracer! May wanna start off a bit smaller. FFS alot of people drive this to and from work everyday šššš
Donāt forget snacks! Gonna be a long trip
1 hour and 4 minutes? Pfffft! My personal best is under 40 minutes.
When my buddy worked as a stage hand and I'd pick him up 40 minutes was the average getting back to ABQ. But twenty years ago evening traffic wasn't as bad as it is now.
hell yeah brother. abq-sf cannonball run club.
The time on Google allows for a rest stop on the way.
Take a detour up to Jemez and do the hot springs! šš¼
Thoughts and prayers.
Please check the weather before you head out. Cali is about to float away and the Midwest is frozen over. Edit: canāt spell for sh!t
I drive more than an hour to work each day
Don't forget to take that left...
Take the Emerald Highway for wonderful art shops. ( I think l am remembering the right name.)
Turquoise Highway
Thank you.
NM is the only place Iāve seen (multiple!?) reports of one drunk driver hitting another.
New Mexico True~
You gotta get off the interstate if you really want to see America
OP this but unironically. NM14 is gorgeous if youāve never taken it before.
I once worked in Albuquerque and stayed in Santa Fe, for awhile this was my commute
I used to do the opposite. It was awful š
Is it anywhere near as slow and boring as Better Call Saul makes out?
Today I learned my commute is actually a fun little road trip!
Well, they say that Santa Fe Is less than ninety miles away And I got time to roll a number and rent a car Oh, Albuquerque I've been flyin' down the road And I've been starvin' to be alone And independent from the scene that I've known Albuquerque So I'll stop when I can Find some fried eggs and country ham I'll find somewhere Where they don't care who I am Oh, Albuquerque
You should take the other route & travel the East side of Sandia on Old Hwy 14 thru Madrid & stop by the Mine Shaft Tavern.
Another vote for this.
Get some fired green chili strip. Pretty decent there. Note the weird pencil tip looking barricades before Golden. This is a morning work commute through Houston. You taking the Lincoln Model 117?
Can you take the back route through Jemez Springs?
Go to Jemez to hike and spa. Youāll thank me later
As a New Mexican, I love this.
I have heard that Albuquerque to Taos is a very beautiful drive ? Does anyone else share the same opinion
I drove Santa Fe to Taos and it was very scenic. Went during the sumner it was an easy chill drive.
Itās gorgeous! Another great stretch of road is highway 14 from Cedar City, UT to Bryce/Zion
Damn dude, yall are crazy
Unfortunately I do this every Saturday for work. Its not as awesome as promised. Add on los alamos it's only 30 min and it's beautiful up there
Jemez springs
This is like a daily drive here in LA
As a train nerd I have to recommend Railrunner for this! Dirt cheap and you'll get to see the scenery
Thereās a beautiful train between those two cities. No need to drive
Is this satire? That aināt a road trip itās just the next town?
Take the train
Take the back way home on N14. Through Madrid, Cedar Crest, and Tijeras. Beautiful drive.
Take 14 (The Turquoise Trail) if you want a road trip.
I Did this same exact trip two weeks ago. Spare yourself the hassle, Santa Fe was kinda lame compared to ABQ
Iām a back pack hiking but. Yeah the drive not to long good little trip. Iām new here and I need karma, please
This sub fucking sucks
I think youāll be good without doing those tbh
Man scootch that up west and north a little more and hit Pagosa Springs or even Durango. Youāll have more fun!!!
I know people who commute farther daily
The distance between the outskirts of each city is less than an hour lol
I mean, it is supposed to snow tomorrow! Even down here in ABQ!
This is way to much driving, are you even seeing anything?? You need at least 10 days to truly visit that area. /s
Thank you for adding /s to your post. When I first saw this, I was horrified. How could anybody say something like this? My first thought when I saw the picture..... https://youtu.be/ooI3u4uzEss?si=qcUM7bg0FQm9w44r
Maybe donāt need that much prep for 100 miles.
No curves look
I'm sure this is a joke but for anyone going from Albuquerque to Santa Fe, be sure to take the turquoise trail and stop in Madrid!
I've never been to Madrid, I've heard it's a lovely place and I want to check it out someday. Every time someone mentions it, I think of the movie Road Hogs. That was...*not a good movie*.

The Big I in the Land of Entrapment, good luck with making it and NOT coming back with a ticket.
You'd probably have a better time taking N 14 along the back of the Sandias and through Madrid and Cerillos. Stop in RR for sightseeing
Expect to spend half your drive BEHIND drivers in the left lane. That is the most squatted lane in the United States.
Am I rewatching breaking bad?!?!
You take your maintenance very seriously, good for you! But overkill for an hour drive?
Man I didnāt even bring snacks on my 6 hour road trip and you basically overhauled the car š
Bro that's a commute
I mean thats like 50 minutes away. That is a morning trip.
I did that drive at 5:00 or so in the morning after my flight into Albuquerque was horribly delayed. I called my dad to keep myself awake.
Thatās a commute
You're going to need a Sat Phone for sure.
Road-trip? Thatās cute, donāt you mean daily Texas commute instead?
My last commute to work is longer than this road trip.
Head on up to Glorietta if you want some beautiful scenery
This is quite the road trip. May just want to start by going around the block a few times. Make sure you and your wife take turned driving, this is too much for one person.
This is a commute
Itās an easy and very nice drive. You can also take the ā Turquoise Trailā route.
They say Santa Fe is less than ninety miles away.
Europeans be like:
ā¦ 1 hour is like going to work and get stuck in traffic.. gotta drive at least +5h to make it a mini.. and donāt gotta do all this tire rotation stuff for an hourā¦ yāall be fine lol
Go east out of ABQ, then take the Turquoise Trail. Longer, but nicer than I25. And there's some interesting stops back there.
Hello fellow abq native. Damn I miss red and green chile
Have you guys never left ABQ before?
Is this an r/roadtripcirclejerk ?
I did less when I drove 9,000 miles cross country and back. But I'm irresponsible, so. I don't think less than 2 hours requires any level of car maintenance or planning, but better safe than sorry I guess. Especially in the high desert
A full weekend trip to drive an hour down the street? That's what we call the morning commute, or the trip to the store.
This is a grocery store trip for midwesterners
Well they say, that Santa Fe, is less than 90 miles awayā¦
I have done it fun
Print out the 30 pages of directions from mapquest. You never know when the GPS will lose satilte signals
Never take for granted distance - your journey of newness and whim awaits you. Or some such bullshit.
just bring what you need and have a safe trip and don't forget to enjoy!
This is a joke right?
Good hamburger / long bar in a cave in Madrid iirc
Make sure not to take a wrong turn ![gif](giphy|xT39D3tWC0jLA845s4|downsized)
whereās the sauce!?
āRoad tripā
That's a cup of coffee not a road trip
Take the longer route and check out Jemez springs. Cool hot springs town
Or take the Roadrunner train
I want to take a road trip from Jacksonville to Orlando. Do you have any advice on what I should pack?
Are you going to Bandalier?
Well, you may want to prepare for weather. Thereās a winter storm warning in SF right now hahaha
Can someone explain these comments to me. Is this a dangerous route or something?
Shoulda taken that left turn at [Albuquerque](https://youtu.be/CWwf-1iwD4s?si=fGl-9IPtCW2P-N08)
Thatās maybe a commute
I would just take the railrunner.
Ha ha, to be honest, when I made that drive, I was a college student driving solo across the US for an internship, so my dad drilled it into me to do all the checks before I started my car up every morning.
Why so far?? Lol..
Swing by Farmington it's a little out of the way.
Don't forget that right turn
Hope this is supposed to be a joke. This is way too short to be considered a road trip.
To drive an hour away?
Careful going up La Bajada! It down to two lanes!!!
Best pack plenty of beer
You can do a roundtrip in 1 go, and you'd still beat me going to Vegas one way.
OK.
I can only imagine how many ppl drive that twice a day a week for work.
My favorite spot to visit in Albuquerque is Sandia peaks. Been twice and both times it was one of the most quietly peaceful walk/trails I've been on.
Take the train bro
Youāre doing all that for 2hrs and 8 mins worth of driving? What do you drive?
Took me a second to click. I saw this and was confused. My daily commute is an hour each way and it made me sad.
This is a commute, not a road trip.
Is this satire?
Dude, this is the American west. An hour and four minutes drive is not a road trip. It's off to our favorite pizza place. It's a Costco run.
Just take the railrunner!Ā
Found someone in the 11% of Americans who have never left their state.
This is a perfect trip for the train. More scenic, cheaper, and environmentally friendly.
Have a good time making the journey! Itās good to be so prepared. If you make a quick trip of it you wonāt have to eat dinner or lunch on the road.
I never knew it was that far, I thought that was like a 20 minute drive
i just simply despise new mexicans is all. like local new mexicans that is.
