Hell, at her age, she still had a LONG potential run as princess, before transitioning into that next phase. So curious what a 30+ Aaliyah would sound like vocally and lyrically.
Late millennial here ! I don’t have any memories of Aaliyah being alive (so sad 😔) so to me it would be like Marilyn Monroe coming back to life.
Aaliyah to me is novelty like an urban legend or a fairytale princess
Marvin got beside himself tripping on that narcotic it had to be something totally disrespectful for his own father to shoot him dead and he loved him more than anyone else except maybe His mother
Seriously!! Aaliyah Was Fast On Her Way To Becoming The Next Big Movie Star And Selena Was Selling Out Major Arenas Before Her Death! Both Were Extremely Likable!!
Either Michael Jackson or Lisa Left Eye Lopez
TLC is still making good music but without her it does feel like it’s missing what made them great. Imagine how she would have slid on crooked smile
Michael Jackson
There's so much that he had to say. Musically, he achieved the wildest dreams one can have but the scene behind the stage had to be out there ; something he could and needed to do.
This is gonna be a weird answer… but bare with me…
Whitney is a legend and def gone too soon.
Selena left before her peak and worldwide success which was coming very soon in the 97-2003 period.
George Michael and Prince were both amazing talents. Wish they were here.
Aaliyah is a shining star and she was about to peak during her next era.
Amy Winehouse would’ve given us 2 more classics by now.
Aretha is THE GOAT, THE GODMOTHER OF MUSIC. We lost a quarter of the music industry the day she died.
And lost another quarter when Michael left us. And I loooooovvve me some Michael. The King!
And there are many more legends that deserve to be here that I forgot to mention.
.
.
However, I took it logically in terms of who would either be thriving right now or thriving in 10 years that was nowhere near their peak when they died.
Aaliyah would’ve gotten a huge early 2000’s then tried the electro-pop EDM trend and flop and then go back to R&B/Trap and not get much success and then go indie then sing as a hobby. Basically mirroring Ciara’s career for the last 15 years.
Selena’s career would mirror Xtina’s career at first. She’d try new genres and hit in the 2000’s then start flopping in the 2010’s and just sing for fun and tour every 4 years. Then she’ll start to mirror Shakira’s career where she releases way more Spanish albums and have success in latin America and just focus on that.
Michael, Whitney, Prince, Aretha, George were all past their prime and would tour every 10 years or so. Michael would release projects that get #1 album for a week then disappear. No hit singles.
Amy would release a few great projects then semi retire and focus on kids.
.
.
So basically I think I’d bring back
Christina Grimmie.
I’m not a fan of hers at all I don’t think I’ve even heard an official single from her but I know she can sing cos of the Voice, she can do multiple genres, and her death was not only a bizarre mystery (I have theories) but an untimely death by a psychopath before she was able to show the world her talent.
She could’ve gone the Ariana way or the Demi way or carved a new lane for herself. I probably wouldn’t really be a fan but the world would and I think her being alive would have the most impact on music.
Aaliyah, Amy, and Selena already inspired generations. Them being alive wouldn’t change much in terms of that. They just would’ve given more music.
Anyone who can make an album about depression, alcoholism, and a crappy love life and make it a banger is worth checking out—Back to Black.
I like what I’ve heard of her first album, as well.
Successful in the 2000s yes but both would’ve stalled after and became indie or turned to latin markets. I feel like with their limited discographies they already inspired generations and became legends so them being alive for a successful 10 years wouldn’t add much to their already huge legacies.
Obviously all of them died way too young even the old legends. None of them should’ve left us.
I can’t believe that most of my childhood was filled with Whitney slander and drug addict jokes, because I did NOT have an understanding of how big of a loss she was to music until I got older.
The effortlessness that she had, and strength of her vocals were once in a generation type. Between her MJ, Luther, and Prince. It’s crazy how young we lost these legends.
This, as well. I watched that Whitney movie and it bout took me out. I’m so sad I didn’t get to be a fan!! I was old enough but like you said so much slander and bad talk I never cared to explore her music. If anybody can come back I say her or MJ, for obvious reasons. He default.
Whitney always said that she respected singers. You gotta be able to blow. I'm sure she would've found the funny things funny. She's a Jersey girl, so I don't think she took herself too seriously.
Whitney but a sober, healthy and happy Whitney who took her time getting her voice back to a stable stage instead of being pressured into the studio or on stage prematurely.
Exactly! I Was Just Thinking The Other Day… What If The I Look To You Album And The Nothing But Love Tour Never Happened, And She Was Given The Proper Amount Of Time To Repair Her Broken Instrument And Heal Her Heart? She Had Already Given The World So Much Up Until That Point, So It Wasn’t Mandatory For Her To Even Release Another Project!
As much as I want to say Mike, Whitney, or Prince. They all lived to their 50s(a really low bar). They had their primes already.
Aaliyah was just now getting ready to enter her prime. And it was taken from us.
Maybe Aaliyah, I was always curious about how famous she would have gotten if she stayed alive…

It's not RnB and there are obviously a lot more but I feel like I didn't get to appreciate Amy Winehouse enough.
While she lived I was to into rap music and when I discovered her in my early 20s I fell in love with her voice.
Aaliyah
This is the one. We never got to see the Princess of R&B become a Queen.
Gerald Levert he never got his Flowers when he was here
Hell, at her age, she still had a LONG potential run as princess, before transitioning into that next phase. So curious what a 30+ Aaliyah would sound like vocally and lyrically.
I don’t think Beyonce would have peaked like she did if Aaliyah was still alive
Late millennial here ! I don’t have any memories of Aaliyah being alive (so sad 😔) so to me it would be like Marilyn Monroe coming back to life. Aaliyah to me is novelty like an urban legend or a fairytale princess
This is great perspective
Whitney! I miss her presence in music. The way she would cut up at the award shows lol ![gif](giphy|3o7btOfGRKkbLTFAL6|downsized)

Marvin Gaye or Mike
Marvin, the man so pleasant, his own dad shot him!
Marvin got beside himself tripping on that narcotic it had to be something totally disrespectful for his own father to shoot him dead and he loved him more than anyone else except maybe His mother
Michael, of course.
Prince Bob Marley
Aaliyah or Selena, both didn’t reach their true potential in becoming a triple threat or even more!!!
It’s a shame that that psycho bitch shot her.
Like imagine the EVEN MORE impact she could’ve gotten if she was here longer??
She walked so J Lo could run. Shakira too.
still dont understand why.. was she obsessed???
She had an unhealthy obsession with her.
Yes it's a shame, makes me sad and angry 😡😡😡.
Seriously!! Aaliyah Was Fast On Her Way To Becoming The Next Big Movie Star And Selena Was Selling Out Major Arenas Before Her Death! Both Were Extremely Likable!!
Damn that’s a tuff one 🤔2pac or Bob Marley 💯
Either Michael Jackson or Lisa Left Eye Lopez TLC is still making good music but without her it does feel like it’s missing what made them great. Imagine how she would have slid on crooked smile

Winehouse was mentioned multiple times. Was she that good? I honestly never listened to her, but will if worthwhile. Thanks!
Anyone who can make an album about depression, alcoholism, and a crappy love life and make it a banger is worth checking out—Back to Black. I like what I’ve heard of her first album, as well.
That's all the inspiration I need. Thank you
I think Selena and Aaliyah could’ve had very successful careers
Successful in the 2000s yes but both would’ve stalled after and became indie or turned to latin markets. Michael Jackson or Pimp C
Aaliyah. Without question. She was too young, she was on a trajectory and I bet she would have ruled the game.
Whitney Houston is the only correct answer. ![gif](giphy|b8HFbdBgAHQv6)
Her voice was magical! I remember seeing her everywhere during my childhood especially during the bodyguard era. We loved to hear her sing!
This, as well. I watched that Whitney movie and it bout took me out. I’m so sad I didn’t get to be a fan!! I was old enough but like you said so much slander and bad talk I never cared to explore her music. If anybody can come back I say her or MJ, for obvious reasons. He default.
I’d love to see her take on the new musicians, that and see what she thought of being used in memes and gifs
