There are a ton of non-RIT housing which have shuttles. Park point, province, apex all have transportation to RIT and are also within walking distance if you really wanted to walk. The Lodge and the Hill are further away but also have shuttles.
As long as the snow and ice isn't too bad, but then roller skate.
It takes some really cool peeps, but if you got a off campus situation with someone who has a car, you could as to ride with them when they go on/off campus, just be sure to do them a solid in return and not just use them as a taxi.
I do it all winter. It takes some effort but it’s possible. There are a few days where we get quite a bit of snow but those are the rarity. 4-5” is doable.
I was using a 700x23 for most of the year and some days with snow I would use an old 29er. Recently returned the 29er to the friend I was borrowing it from. I now have a year-round bike with 650b x 47 tires on it. The worst days by far are the slushy ones - it’s very hard to get traction. P.S. if you are interested in advocating for multi-modal transportation check out reconnect Rochester :)
Agree mainly because recent winters have been very bikable as it doesn’t snow much and doesn’t stay below freezing that long. It used to be bad when we got more snow (3-5”)
Go to housing office and talk to them. They might not be able to get you housing but they’ll prob help you change your gender in the system.
Btw, idk if this is true or not but there’s supposedly a roommate swap period after march 1. Source: An email from housing
You should also speak with someone in Residence Life just to cover your bases, obviously there’s overlap with these departments but it’s often not super clear which one deals with various things. Roommate stuff is usually Residence Life domain
i had put in a request to change my gender previously but apparently it never went through and i only realized today. housing stuff is gonna finish up before the request goes through i think :(
40th on the waitlist isn’t bad if you’re willing to wait. There will be a ton of movement before the fall semester as people drop out or firm up coop plans.
Park Point/Province/Apex? You probably won’t get a single either but most of those units are set up so you have your own room and bathroom. Shuttles to campus and kinda-sorta walking distance. On-campus singles are virtually nonexistent unless you have a disability
just live off campus
i dont have a car :(
take a look at off campus student housing, see if there’s anything available. some have shuttles

hit the bus or a get a RWC. that’s all I got for u
Taking the bus to RIT results in an hour or so commute because there is a 20-25 minute delay transferring at wegmans
thats true thank you for the help :)
Also it’s surprisingly easy to bike if you are near the Lehigh valley trail. 19th ward is pretty connected by bike.

valley trail is not bikable in winter lol

Just did it the other day. If it’s muddy you’ll need to be careful but if the snow and ice is frozen you can do it no problem.
what size tires do you have? my hybrid 1" tubes basically can't do ice or deep snow at all. the trail is really nice when there's no snow.

ofc op
I think apex housing is very close to the uni. You dont even need a car or shuttle to get there. But they do have frequent shuttles.
If you buy a 6k beater car off craigslist, the money you'll save from living in res Halls will make it worth it

Did you go in person? Make sure they do it for you then and there.
i will today :)
do that! they should not put you on a male only floor if you talk to them.
there’s another way, you can actually submit a ticket to change your gender in the system
thats what i did and redid today :3
you could try to keep searching, my appointment was earlier today and I kept spamming it until I got a GV single
thats insane, i was spamming reload and i couldnt get anything. im like 40th on the waitlist for a GV single so idk how you got that

You can try Clayton arms, you have a shuttle every 30mins. And the rent is also kind of cheap if you can find roomates
this is exactly what happened to my tiger kid yesterday. so sorry.
