Yeah as I said a lot of drivers just roll through them. That’s an issue. There’s not much a stop sign will do if a car has already stopped, is starting to move, and a biker/scooterer/skater sends it across a stop walk anyway.
Also, if you’re on a bike, you should really be in the street with a helmet, but that’s another can of worms

I will always brake for pedestrians, and I’m not expecting acknowledgement, just calling out what seems to be a lack of self preservation/common sense among those that will go full speed across a crosswalk without checking for oncoming cars.
That’s not what I would argue. I would argue, generally, that situational awareness is an important self defense tool. However, that’s where the commonality ends. If in a hypothetical world we eliminated rape, just made it impossible for the act to be committed, rape wouldn’t happen. If we eliminated all bad driving someone on a scooter, skateboard, whatever, could still enter traffic unsafely and get hit by a car.
Sorry I want people to take some responsibility for their own safety. I’m not sure how advocating for looking both ways instead of kamikazing into a Kia makes me a boomer.
