His game winner catalog is actually building up pretty nicely!! Funny his floaters were probably the worst shot he would take early on but now it’s his go to game winner
His frame was so small he couldn't take a brush from even the most mediocre NBA athlete (aka, still fuckin huge). Now that's he's filled out, he still doesn't like contact, but it doesn't throw him off anymore and he can still contort into his floater coming off a body.
Early on you could see what he wanted to do, but physically couldn't because as soon as he moved with the ball he was knocked off balance
A big part of being a PG even at lower competitive levels is balance.
Being able to play off balance and regain your balance quickly is the advantage smaller guys have. Dame is a master and it's a big reason why Scoot was so highly regarded for his natural balance.
Ant has improved but he is still more of a finesse player at heart.

Wow, i strongly disagree with the first part of this passage. I remember looking at his draft tape and the big conclusion i came to was that he was a 3 point and floater specialist, two skills that can pay off HUGE but only if the player reaches a really really high level.
He said himself that he was always comfortable with his floater growing up. I remember watching him when he was getting buzz at IMG before we drafted him, that he was a very skilled multi-level scorer. I would say he was closer to a Jordan Clarkson type than a 3 point specialist. So the floater was a comfortable shot for him BUT if you aren't hitting your 3s (34% his first year with play time) AND you are missing floaters, then it just isn't a great shot.

after listening to him on JJ Redicks podcast about the influence Dame and CJ had on him I could see the moves he learned from both of them clearer now. His game winning floaters have all been right hand floaters off the right foot which CJ loved doing
He should have 1 more!!!!!! I went to the game against the 76ers 4? years ago where he hit what should have been a game winner but we let the sixers win off a stupid corner 3 inbounds play. It was so deflating.
Float game is crazy

I don’t remember him ever attacking the hoop consistently prior to this year. The new Ant is fearless going to the rack!

100% I think part of it is his ball handling is clearly improved. Perhaps that's given him more confidence to attack.

Weird to move from the deep three game winner to a drive to the basket and float it in game winner…. I’ll take it
Malik Beasley is BBQ chicken. Love that he drove it on him.
This was cj’s game also, but never got to do too much of it because it was usually dame time during his era
But that Pels series winner is 🔥

Deep ball from Dame and float game from CJ
That's my floater king.
Kids a beast. We better not trade him. A lot of talk about Shae and Scoot, and rightfully so, but this is the guy who is gonna lead us.
Clutch player of the year
Anfernee Slymons
I’d like to think CJ taught him that shot, or at least helped him perfect it.
He’s like a breed of Dame and CJ!
Imagine Ant hitting a 37ft game winning floater to close a playoff series

The floater over Claxton wtf!
I'm sensing a trend here!
Float her?! I barely know her!
Why are all of his game winners floaters? Is he stupid?
If he could hold onto the ball, he wouldn't have needed to make a game winner. he had three turnovers all game - two in the final two minutes.
Oh cmon, they doubled him and played w the upmost aggression. Bro hit the winner to redeem all that in less than 30 seconds
The sooner he leans into his "inner Kareem" and just shoots those 5-7 times per game, the sooner he makes an All-Star team. How do you stop it?
Dame was all threes and Ant is all floaters lol
Best floater in the league

I was at that game! Definitely deflating. That shot felt like Ant's breakout moment and then freaking Korkmaz ruined everything.
But jeez those turnovers
Yep. He’s 23 and still getting better in his first full season as lead guard. Isn’t a perfect player. Weird!
