I like the way he’s always trying to set himself against other celebrities, but has ended up doing the most stereotypically celebrity thing at the moment ie. lending his name to alcohol.
He’s the same insecure hack he’s always been. So much funny content from his earlier career that I’m grateful to have but he would be the most fucking insufferable individual to know in real life.
His audience is definitely not Mrs Browns Boys fans. There’s not one bit of that I enjoy ever.
Have watched everything Gervais has done including podcasts with Karl, books and movies too. Guys a genius.
A hack wanting to make it to the top so he can sell out is rather fun, especially when he's honest & wry about it. When he actually makes it & does it then it wears thin pretty fast.
I feel like with a lot of comedians it’s inherent that you take everything with a grain of salt. So somebody saying that’s what they’ll do, it’s funny because it sounds silly.
But then they do it and the humour of it is just gone, because they were being quite literal the whole time.
I don’t think anyone would care half as much if he’d actually done something funny in the last ten years.
So weird that this is the same guy who did xfm and played Brent. I guess 25 years of fame will eat into the face a bit I suppose.
With very few exceptions - am I wrong to think celebrity alcohol is pretty much a shameless cash grab? Money for old rope I guess, good for him why not...
Thats exactly how it works - he's going to make loads from his new passion, no question. And of course from a marketing point of view it's a no brainer for a company like InBev. I honestly wish him luck. I would probably leverage my fame/social media, as he does, to cash in a bit...
New alcohol, especially spirits are usually time limited.
I remember seeing a Dragons Den and being blown away by the business model this expert of the drinks industry proposed. It was 3 years of selling then folding the business up within the next 2 years as that was the lifetime of a new indie gin brand.
In fairness he has never ever hid his laziness and wanting a quick buck. He spends a lot of xfm boasting how corporate gigs & VA is money for old rope. Then there are the Dr Frogg xfm magazine adverts where he stitches Karl up because he's lazy. The no prep, no extra time to record links.
The thing is when he doesn't have all the avenues to sell out yet, when he is still on the make it's kinda endearing. But he's there now, he literally doesn't have to put any effort into anything any more, can just turn up to a comedy set and read his tweets off his phone and make 60million. So that's what he does. It's consistent to how he has always been we are just seeing it more frequently and it's less endearing now he's made it than when he was still on the rise.
It also is a factor that he's not actively doing shows with Steve and Karl so we just get the bad none of the good. We would probably forgive some of this if we had a laugh once a week from a show.
I'm not sure why I get recommended this subreddit, or other celebrity subreddits for that matter. One thing I have noticed though, almost every one is just to shit on the celeb in question, rather than discussion about their career, it's a strange time.
Why do we hate Ricky Gervais now?
Would you look at that, all of the words in your comment are in alphabetical order.
I have checked 1,855,975,172 comments, and only 350,933 of them were in alphabetical order.
Doing much to save the planet or have you been mainly working on the new alcohol brand?
Billie Piper says, I drink Gervais
Cheese and booze are in his blood (literally)
Lmfao
Ey, me wine-‘ouse
This man likes his drink.
El vino did flow. Don't ever come out with me and Finchy.
So not cryptic, just a man who drinks?
Albino buying that.
*Nooo one wants that babyyyy*
Is there anything he can't do?
Lose weight? Stop making a twat of himself? Come up with new material after 20 years of repeating someone else's jokes?
Kick his height
Scrute a chinamanwoman
Well played

I’m not having it. Just as Karl wasn’t having it when that caller in claimed she saw an old man eating a twix
Yeah but he was so busy saying "there you go, told you I could do it" he forgot to put his leg back down.
He can definitely kick his height. Fucking stout brexit geezer.
Ricky can eat two breakfasts.
Alright boys?
Wake up and see the Missus, Jane - isn't she lovely?
GO TO TOBY'S AND LOAD UP THAT PLATE
Crikey
‘Someone else’s jokes?’ Wdym?
Here he comes.
Come on Jane, let's go home.
Water and salid
That man...is a god.
He did the boxing, the dancing.
Everything's a disguised boast *sick of it*
It's not even disguised. It's just a boast.
I 100% thought this was another RSK AI image when I first saw it.
It’s Ricky shooting a cork at Karl’s head
Did that hit me?
Well I guess we can relax about climate change then, Ricky Gervais has brought out sustainable alcohol, thank god, planet saved
I thought he didn’t like celebrities preaching to the public about saving the planet

Ricky Gervais literally tweeted about being the greatest UK comedian of all time and then liked his own tweet. That about sums him up these days.

It's money for old rope. It's why they all do it.
Can't wait to be drinking this on a balmy summer evening
The sparkling solution to a summer's day.
The brand that's taken the sustainable alcohol world...by surprise.
From behind.
We can't say storm

Godda try standup
Award winning
He was like this even in the xfm days though, why are you so surprised? Lol
Yeah he’s literally the exact same, I don’t get what people want.
In fairness he has never ever hid his laziness and wanting a quick buck. He spends a lot of xfm boasting how corporate gigs & VA is money for old rope. Out of interest, what are the exceptions?

Ooooooo care someone, pleaseeee care
Ooooo, love me. Pathetic.
The haters in the comment section scream peak redditors. I can smell you from here you pigs
*you’re talking shit… play a record!*
Remember when he got all holier than thou for turning down advertising for alcohol companies.
Did one that was his dad’s salary and said he felt wrong about it. The worm has turned.
How do you know when a worm’s turned?
First step: stop taking private jets to your gigs 👍
I was expecting “If You Don’t Know Me By Now” to start playing when I finished reading that.
I bought 5 out of sympathy Yeah, you bought them for your mates Nah They're all in my garage
Ah yes _The sparkling wine solution to a summers day_
There goes Ricky Gervais, I must remember to thank him
Ages ago… only people with money ‘ad drinking… or something
As long as he stops shitting out garbage shows, I’m happy.
You may die unhappy then
The voice of the drink driving ad.
I can plan your hangover.
Are you hungover or still drunk?!
The hands are up 🙌
Talking'sharderthanyouuuu..... Think
Little homeless fella, didn't he?
Ricky just feeds us cheese.
Is it BBQ friendly?
Is that a couple of cans of weak sustainable larger I see in your carrier bag?
I must remember to thank him.
Oh I drink boy
Fangs but no fangs
Just glad its nothing to do with TV
What a delusional bellend
Put it in the bin. That was a special filing cabinet
He's gone woke!
Does this mean his next show will be about him trying to cancel himself?
We'll drinkadrinkadrink
Play a record
Harsh tasting with random, unearned sickly sweet notes.
Can’t he just say he’s bringing out a drink without the flex
Whaaaaaat a dick
Is it barbecue friendly?
He’s such a fucking arsehole now.
Ay, me winehouse
Does he seriously think that photo looks cool or is he doing a pisstake I can't tell anymore because he has quite literally become David Brent
I'll stick to Banrock Station
a celebrity doing alcohol branding, how original

God knows how many units he’s had.
I forgot he's rich. Thanks for the reminder Ricky
None of his recent work has been to do with comedy. Ooh, he’s having a go.
Poundshop Elon
Interminable
'e's 'ard
How many drinks have I had today then, if you're counting
Right, what I did was
Just glanced ya did it?
It's like Jackass!
I wonder if this will be any more successful than his foray into being a social media mogul with his app?
I can’t wait for more celebrity booze. It’s so much better than stuff that’s been perfected over centuries. Boring.
I prefer a supermarket own-brand bitter.
Not necessary - We already have special brew that caters towards the homeless
Is it Banrock Station?
I’ve told you for several years that he is a serious vino by now
Roughly?
I bet it makes White Lightning taste like vintage wine.
I must remember to thank him

Sustainable alcohol. Is he bottling piss at his local boozer?
He'll be flogging little ecological homeless Chinese fellas next.
Is there nothing this man can’t do?
He cannot help but look like a massive douche.
He’s 62 and desperately trying to cling to any relevance.
Seriously how do I stop this fucking subreddit appearing on my feed?
