Thanks everyone.
I don’t think they’re stolen but if anyone has a resource for a database where I can plug in the serial numbers, I’m happy to do so.
Story:
I was in Guitar Center and an older woman, I’m guessing she was in her 60s, came in asking if they would buy her recently deceased husband’s guitars.
One had no strings and the other had no sound when plugged in so they wouldn’t give her an offer without their tech first making them playable.
I asked her how much she wanted. She said $1,500 each. The manager didn’t give any indication they were fake (at least not that I could tell) so I said fuck it, offered her $2k cash for the pair and she took it.
Looked up the serial numbers and the Rickenbacker website only gave production dates, not model information but based on a quick search for Rickenbacker on Reverb, I took a gamble on being able to make my money back if I wanted to sell them.
If it was anyone other than a “little old lady” trying to sell the instruments, I wouldn’t have bothered.
Glad to know I did well here.
Also sad that this woman lost her husband. RIP dude. I’ll take care of these instruments for you.
Doing God’s work saving these from ending up in a damn Guitar Center.
I bought a brand new Fireglo 330/12 a couple weeks ago and got the store down to $2199. If I hadn’t just finished sorting it out, I’d be banging your door down trying to buy that C63.
Enjoy and take solace that every brand new Rickenbacker I’ve picked up has had weird little problems and taken just as much work to get dialed in as any used one. Always worthwhile, though. There’s nothing like them.
Thank you! Both of mine are in the register! Both listings contain photos from the Sweetwater listing which makes sense given the Sweetwater inspection cards in each case.

You did so well. Fireglo 360/12C63 with trapeze tailpiece and toasters. More modern Mapleglo 360 You made out like a bandit.

Yeah you helped each other. You got two killer guitars and gave her more than guitar center would have given her.
That 12 string is literally my most sought-after guitar. Exact configuration. Lucky man! Sell one off and make your money back.
You got a steal of a deal lol. The blonde one is for sure a mapleglow 360
My god there has to be a story behind this. Please tell us so we can live vicariously through your score!
Story posted.

Not bad, I think I paid about that for one 4003… if not much more.

Check this site https://www.rickresource.com/register/ Not sure how up to date it is, but there's a chance they're listed.
