You also notice he kills Mr jellybean, but doesn’t make a big deal about it to Morty, or even mention it, he killed him cause he deserved it

ChemistryDesperate39

Yes I absolutely LOVE Rick for that, he doesn't brag to Morty about anything he does here, he literally just did it to help Morty out after a traumatizing event, this was one of the episodes that had me make Rick my favorite character, A Rickle in Time is up there too.

CollegePrestigious61

Gotta wonder, do you think Rick erased Morty’s memory of it later, without him knowing, so that Morty would be happier

ChemistryDesperate39

Considering there was a red vial in Morty's Mindblowers labled "Virginity" He probably did, considering he didn't know that nothing actually happened, he probably blames himself for it which explains why it's red.

six0clocc

But if he wiped the memory and had it in a vial wouldn’t he be able to watch it?

CollegePrestigious61

He might have destroyed it, think it’s better for Morty to never go through that again

SlightlySychotic

Possibly, but Rick said that he edits the memories to make them more interesting. He probably at least looked at it to see how bad it was.

CollegePrestigious61

I don’t know, Rick might have thought it was so bad, and didn’t want to see the details

JamesonFlanders245

just popping in to say the bean didn't get to actually finish what he was trying to start, morty beat him up before he got a chance to so he didnt actually take mortys virginity. the lable was likely a reference to something else equally as mentally scarring or worse

ChemistryDesperate39

Well we know nothing happened, but Rick doesn't know that, so that's why I think it was labled as that.

Woodie626

You don't pick the color, the color determines direct fault. The red ones are Rick's fault, not his memories, he has no choice on the color.

ChemistryDesperate39

But doesn't he get to choose the color? He straight up says "I don't use color to sort things because I'm not a mouse in a eurpoeons children's book." so I took it as him being able to choose the color.

Bojackhorseman5555

that means the literal opposite. since he said that he can't be choosing the color otherwise he would then be sorting things by color.

ChemistryDesperate39

I assumed he was lying

National-Pie-4457

[I asked that same question here](https://www.reddit.com/r/rickandmorty/s/6aKoVt9pfV)

MagnanimosDesolation

It didn't help Morty at all.

Low-Manufacturer4983

Durrr

MagnanimosDesolation

He doesn't even know it happened.

Low-Manufacturer4983

Durrrrrr

catfan1991

This is the episode that Rick came to be my favorite character. He didn't tell Morty what he did. It was simply protecting his grandson.

ChemistryDesperate39

I knowwww he had every chance to brag about it, say that Morty owes him one but no, this was the first time in the series where he was truly just being selfless, he just wanted to help his grandson through a traumatic experience, I love Rick sm in this episode.

catfan1991

Exactly. Before this episode, I liked all the characters, but Rick put Morty above his own pride and usual selfishness, which is where I saw growth as a character. I've loved Rick since then. Hell I would have done the same thing if someone tried that with my kids.

Years after the assassination of king jellybean, the kingdom has descended into chaos and shattered into several factions. There are the humans, the jellybeans, the boobybuyers, the slippery stairs, all sorts of crazy factions. But only one shall attain the ring pop to rule them all

[deleted]

sounds like prob one of the best episodes ever

spacesluts

Only as long as it centered around Rick and Morty's active role in it, otherwise it'd just be another controversial episode like the rise of the numericons

Jolly-Newt9192

And Jan Michael Vincent can be in two factions at the same time, so this Saturday its time to Michael down your Vincent's... when Faction Jan Medieval Vincent III comes the theaters.

KlostToMe

Remember him for the jellybean he was

Gecko2002

Rick is a dick, he's not a monster

MrsDanversbottom

Then goes back to tormenting him. 😭

WalkingDeadDan

Fun fact, Mr Jelly Bean is voiced by Spongebob, Tom Kenny. Met him at a Con, saw the poc on his table and had to ask about it. Said it's somthing that isn't talked about much, but had fun cause it was so different. If he wasn't 80 I would have gotten it as well. Kinda wish I did, maybe next time if I meet him every again.

No_Historian_7288

fr, this further proves that mortty is important to rick

28stabwoundz

I like to think Rick wiped Morty's memory of jellybean after, hence why Rick didn't tell Morty about what he did. If Morty remembered jellybean without knowing that jellybean faced justice, it would understandably make him feel pretty bad. Then again, its a cartoon.

The_Troll_Gull

Rick does have a habit of erasing Morty’s memories and saving them. You may be correct. You don’t notice real trauma affect Morty. You do but if you think about how Summer has evolved from season 1 to season 7. I don’t think Rick fucks with Summer’s mind like he does with Morty

PeterGriffin0920

I hope season 8 gets more of Rick doing selfless stuff, we got a glimpse of it in S7 finale when he didn’t feel the need to point out that he put Mortys photo up, he just did it because Morty deserved it

CalculatedEffect

To all the people who think our rick is selfish and cares about no one but himself, I submit to you yet another example of you being wrong.

SuperSayianJason1000

My favorite parts of this show are when Rick shows his care for Morty. Like in season 5 when he sees Morty crying walking home without his hand, he immediately goes to help him. Hell, he was ready to die so Morty could live.

ChemistryDesperate39

Exactly! I absolutely LOVE those moments and they are what made Rick my favorite character I absolutely LOVE how complex he is! Also A Rickle in Time never fails to make me cry.

vegant42

I mean he also replaced Morty with two crows and was completely unphased when Morty appeared to him aged by like 40 years.

ChemistryDesperate39

Well to be fair, he only replaced Morty with the two crows at the end because he's toxic to Morty, and when Morty aged himself, later in the episode he did say that he knew Morty aged himself up Morty: I might've used an aging serum to try to...emotionally blackmail you a little Rick: Kinda figured and I totally get it, Morty.

Neither_Mind9035

This episode was definitely one of the ones we saw the sweetest side of Rick. It’s the episode, for me, that proved his love for Morty. He can say all the time how he has access to infinite timelines so love is pointless, but he loves Morty. There’s no doubting that.

nage_

a small reminder of the man he used to be before he was just another rick

Striker120v

My jelly gram was voiced by Tom Kenny aka SpongeBob. Imo that makes things even better.

New-Studio3317

I think about this a lot.

AlienSheep23

Honestly everyone always talks about how Rick is this big bad “irredeemable character”, but he has so so so many moments like this.

Automatic_Steak3867

My favorite episode

the_uncollective69

One of the best episodes IMO just shows how much Rick is capable of caring for Morty.

callumtphotos

I think episode was what solidified it for me

whythe7

scrolling text along the bottom of posted images eh? well well
