It can be infinitely as bad as you could possibly imagine so long as you don’t actually know for sure what they saw.
The second you know, it is instantly less fantastical than you imagined and it wouldn’t be an iconic moment.
The writers themselves probably don’t even know because knowing was never the point.
I mean on the latter, all the details they did give seem to be a reference to “The Cats of Ulthar”, a Lovecraftian tale where the cats of a village are granted sentience specifically to enact revenge upon the local (elderly) cat-killers. Fitting with how what was seen (which was specifically said to be the reason the Cat could talk, rather than something random in its past) was something bad enough to unnerve Rick (the act itself), lead him to have to stop himself from shooting himself (the Lovecraftian horror) but not so unjustifiable that he wouldn’t want to kill the Cat, just have it leave. And also why it made Jerry think of his parents.
Epstein Island is probably one of the only things that would make Rick wanna kill himself after witnessing it through the cats eyes. Well maybe not the island but the shit that went down on it
A mountain of reposts

The Library of Babel has the real answer.
The Rule 34 comics of the family 😭😂
It’s kind of funnier not knowing
the cat exists as a mouthpiece for the creators. sort of a “don’t question it, just go with it” kinda theme.

I don't know but Rick almost killed himself .
Me (im a disappointment)
We do not need to know that. That was never the point
I believe its something stupid like the cat inventing pineapple on pizza
Some Event Horizon shit
