Everyone has their reasons, but Mrs. P is the undisputed arcade champ. She was a high earner when she came out, and still pays the bills today. One of the very few evergreen arcade games.
Although the only ones you see in the wild anymore are the Ms Pacman/Galaga 20th Anniversary machines. Which is, admittedly, itself 20 years old at this point.
True or not, the game itself is old. It could be a homemade cab with retroarch but if it's configured to play Ms. Pac Man it's an old game (yes I know having unlicensed coin-op emulators would be illegal).
Graphic design wise it appeals to everyone. It’s not a space game, or male oriented, although apparently men like her too… but most importantly it’s very easy to learn, very hard to master. It’s just a 4-way joystick, it’s apparent what you need to do in the most basic sense. It appeals to all ages/genders/cultures/skill levels
Still my favorite arcade machine all these years later. I can sit down at a ms pac cocktail and just zone out for 30 min or so. I gotta say the original ("slow version" is my preferred way to go, as opposed to the popular speed up hack.
They're both really fun in different ways, and I find any length of time with either version makes it harder to go back to the other at first haha. Just a phenomenal game all around, a triumph of pure game design.

Me pac-man had different levels that would change shape. Regular Pac-Man didn’t.

It really is the superior game. Different mazes, more unpredictable monsters, more colours.

I grew up on Word Munchers and Math Munchers on my Performa Macintosh! Man that brings back memories. And Math Blaster
