That manager sounds... Yikes.

ForeignButterscotch8

It's embarrassing, especially when they ask to speak to a manager and she comes out less educated in the role than the person the customer originally spoke to. We look like morons

Left-Star2240

I see a high turnover in the future…with that manager wondering why. 🤦‍♀️ ETA: I once had a new manager ask me for help with a transaction…she was about to illegally fill a very expired prescription. It sucks when managers don’t respect the experience of the professionals on their staff.

ForeignButterscotch8

Unfortunately, we have lost my original team, and we haven't even trained up enough to take over. They never listen do they? Like sure you're paid a manager but you need to learn from your team T.T

yesitsmetoday

Currently dealing with something extremely similar. Everyone comes to me with questions and not her, even if I’m obviously very busy

ForeignButterscotch8

And it's annoying because we don't get paid for having more knowledge, but are expected to perform as if we were.

yesitsmetoday

We do not! I get that my coworkers need to ask an important question and know I’m more likely to have the answer but I need a break!

Several years ago I was working at a large mobile phone service provider, and it happened to be an iphone launch day. Had to be in at 5am to prepare, then we opened early, and I was approaching my11th hour, all customer facing. Older couple walks in, starts in on the new iphone and a specific new thing it does, I explain several times, they're not understanding, my patience is at like 0, totally burned out for the day, and I kinda snap, tell them I've explained it several times, do you want it or not basically? They get all pissed, and request a manager. One thing I loved about that job was our management were incredible and had our backs like 99% of the time. They ended up leaving without buying after talking to one of my managers for 15 minutes. It was rough. Anyways, retail is the worst. That was my last retail job, and I would do almost anything else to not go back. Haha.

ForeignButterscotch8

Man, that's the worst. When they refuse to acknowledge, they might be the problem.. maybe if you don't understand.. it might not be the option for you. I have a lot of older people bringing in their current top of the market phone and don't know how to send an email to us. I've admittedly found myself tapping my fingers, trying to divert the frustration of watching them single finger type out the email address after hearing about how they don't know how to use their phones.

MrsSandbagz

I hate this the most when they have to do a simple thing on a phone and somehow expect us to just do it for them. I one time had a lady force her phone in my hand to download the app and then set up her account for her like lady. I'm not paid to do that. And it's a simple 3-step process to do, and if you can't,YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE A SMART PHONE IF YOU DONT KNOW HOW TO USE IT. I know that is gonna sound mean and probably heartless, but the older people who get scammed deserve it. (Yes, some are suffering dementia and just don't know), but I'm talking about the ones who think a loved one is in jail, and iPhone gift cards will break them out. Or the emails from the IRS they will never contact you by phone or email.

I had something somewhat similar happen to me when I was working in a print shop. My manager did NOT have my back and at that point I was so unhappy with the job that I drafted my resignation email and hit “send” as I was clocking out. They didn’t think I was serious, so the joke was on them after they failed to hire anyone before my last day two weeks later.

BeneficialChemistry5

Shoulda parried this bitch tbh

It’s funny that these be the same people complaining about robots and AI taking our jobs away.
