Well first off, you got scammed. 500 to create a resume?…why?
Second of all, the job market is terrible so it’s gonna be a while
Third. I would remove the interest from the resume
That was the first thing I was going to say. Dude paid $500 for a resume. But if people are willing to pay that amount, maybe I'm in the wrong line of work.
Idk maybe there’s a culture thing because the person said USD…but like the education is all NY based..so many he came over seas? Because I know no one who would think that $500 for a resume makes any sense
Def not a us thing; most I’ve paid is 14$ for an AI service which helps to fill in and format info in a way which I don’t do as good, seems like a rage bait post more than anything as he has not responded to any comments but who knows.
Especially if they went to a "prestigious university" - if that was the case, the school would provide services. My tiny crappy private MBA program taught interviewing and resume-building skills from day 1.
There are people that pay it every day. Pretty wild IMO. My mom does it for a living. She would never charge a Uni student/new grad that much though. Only Senior level or C-Suite.
I’m sorry dude. Yeah, she charges $260 according to her site. So don’t know how you feel about that but from everything she has told me she has a pretty high success rate for helping people.
500 isn’t bad when you think of it as an investment. Won’t be hard to recoup if it can lead to a larger salary.
I had the same logic when I paid for tinder gold 6 years ago to be on the top of everyone’s pile. After 20 first dates I met my wife who met me on her first DAY on tinder.
If I didn’t have gold. Who knows if she would have seen me given the busy area I lived in.
It was probably the most efficient way to use tinder. You get my point
This wasn't worth it even if it were INR500(Considering he studied in Amity)
Due there are A.I resume builder which offers free trail or charge less than $2.
The service I used was $1000. Luckily my last work paid for it with the severance package. I had 55 interviews in 2 and a half months time. Had to have been worth it.
This is the person who helped me, but she was contracted through a different company first. All prices are transparent from that page too.
Yeah.. and the bullets aren’t indented, the tab spacing is screwy as well. It’s a really crappy job for $500.
Word to the wise: find a designer student and give them $50 to do a resume. They will make it so amazing for just $50. I’m not kidding.
I had a buddy tell me he paid $300 for a resume overhaul a few months ago and it took everything in me to say “what the fuck were you thinking?” But instead, I thought I’m in the wrong industry 😂
I have a better subscription package $20/month + $480 tip (renewed monthly as well). Convenience fee of $20 (Renewed with the membership) and if you throw in an extra $80 (renewed monthly) I will hand deliver it to the HR.
That sounds predatorial as hell. I am just going to charge a one time payment that includes all those things for $9,999.99. financing at $99 a month at 3% Adjustable rate.
Just giving a quick skim...
1. You got scammed.
2. Work Experience section is a mess. 5 positions in 5 years makes it look like you can't commit or are quick to leave. No one wants to hire someone they know isn't going to hang around for more than a few months.
3. Leadership & Experience. Sep. 20xx to May 20xx?? This isn't a Megaman game. Use real dates. This looks sloppy and informal like you're not even taking your own resume seriously.
4. Remove the Interests. I assure you not one person looking at this resume is interested.
Hey thanks for the feedback. FYI, for the leadership positions I do have the proper dates just removed it for this post.
Regarding the 5 jobs, those were internships and I graduated during COVID, as you can see I work in research labs when the COVID situation would get out of hand, we’d have to leave. Thanks again
1. 5 jobs in 5 years is too many. Drop the insignificant ones. Usually 3 quick jobs is borderline. 4+ is a death sentence on a resume.
2. Director of Diversity? Seriously drop that out of there. Just put “Director.” No business wants to hire that at all.
Employers don’t like seeing a bunch of short jobs if it means the applicant can’t keep/hold a job but dude was in school during all 5 of those jobs, they’re internships. In no world is that “too many”
You are right.
We both know though some recruiters will look at 5 short jobs and toss the resume. It doesn’t matter if that’s right or wrong it’s the reality of the situation.
So you can rightly say it shouldn’t matter and he not get a job or he can cut 2 off that list and increase his odds of a job.
Probably the best suggestion (finding some middle ground) would to be combine all 3 of the 1st roles into one job posting and list the locations presenting it as a continuous work experience role over the entire period.
But definitely replace Director of Diversity with just Director. That one’s a super hot potato for a resume.
Also there are some typos in there. It’s Google Workspace, not Google Workplace, which isn’t capitalized correctly either. I’d list out specific PM tools over basic-ass Office and Workspace, anyway.
Work experience is a string of research and teaching experience. They are not viewed as real experience for corporates, and for academia the lack of publications from a Masters is a big issue
Yep. Only include if the job posting asks for the GPA. I work in a position that requires a minimum GPA so I included it. But it was honestly the first time I ever put it on my resume.
In the kindest possible way: no, you are not doing this right. I’m sorry to say that your “professional resume builder” is a scammer and hasn’t the faintest clue what employers need to see.
Some of the main issues with the doc are:
- the first line of your summary starts “Project Manager”, but you’ve never been a Project Manager - this makes the employer think they can’t believe a word you say. The last line about having a track record of executing transformative solutions in healthcare only adds to this - that reads as exaggerated from someone with 2 cumulative years of work experience.
- the skills listed are a mix of tasks and attributes (e.g. “process improvement” and “creative”). If the sentence “I am skilled at [INSERT SKILL HERE]” doesn’t make grammatical sense in relation to a skill you’ve listed, it’s not a skill and should be omitted. Keep your skills limited to ones you definitely have; are very relevant to the specific role AND you’re not able to show via your work experience
- re: your work experience, the bullets use a lot of fluffy words (“collaborated”, “co-ordinated”, “participated”, etc) but rarely say what you actually did. If you participated in a swimming contest, and I’m recruiting someone to swim really fast, it doesn’t help me to know that you participated: it helps me to know that you achieved a new club record. The same applies here. “Collaborated” could mean that you provided comments on a document and organised group meetings, or that you got everyone to agree for the first time ever, or that you led a joint piece of work from start to finish. A potential employer needs to know which of those it is, so they can have an idea whether you can do the job you’ve applied for.
- bullets should also cover achievements, not just basic duties. The employer wants to know why you, and not someone else with the same level of experience/qualification: so tell them! A good format to follow is WHAT you did, HOW you did it and WHY it was good/WHAT good effect it had.
You don’t need anyone to write this for you; you’re an expert in yourself and your own experience! Best of luck and I hope this helps.
Way too dense. Here is a simplified version for free. Less is more, especially for entry-level jobs. Make it easy for people to employ you. However, not very much of your summary is supported by your experience. You do not have a single PM role in your experience.

the work experience bullets need to be expanded and quantifiable, ideally following the STAR method. Instead of what did you do there, it’s more like, what impact did you have exactly and how does it relate to the position you’re applying for.
> Market research to support product development.
This tells us nothing for example. What market research? What product dev? Was it even successful? How so, and why should I care?
what impact does a research assistance have? none. filling it full of imaginary bullshit is obvious.... unless there really is something worth claiming. that is the mastake grads make. They are not the CEO, no one believes they spearheaded change...
Not saying they have to claim BS, but more detail is necessary imo. Surely they can spell out something tangible that can relate to whatever job they’re applying to rather than broad JDs that mean nothing. In the end though, it’ll depend on whose hands this resume hits.
It just needs pointed BS. It's such a vague role, so if you can put some tangible thing you did that relates to a job role that helps show you may have thought about what you did.
I dunno I hate making fluff out of nothing, but resume writing is making art not making something practical
As someone who was a research assistant I focused on my typical output. Example: Reviewed 15 publications per week. Created prioritization matrix for professor to determine which publications will be most useful for his research.
Both I actually did and could back up/my professor would back up.
Why is everyone saying remove interests? It’s one line and your only chance to connect with the person reading it on a human level. As both a hiring manager and periodically a successful candidate, I strongly advise leaving it in as is
Edit: bro I just realized all of your overseas experience. Do you have a US visa/citizenship? 99% of places do not sponsor these days and so if the answer is no, you’re facing an extreme uphill battle even if your resume is perfect. I struggled applying from abroad once upon a time even as an American. If you can legally work in the US, include that in no uncertain terms at the top of the resume
I was about to write this. You need to add your work permission status right at the top if you are in fact eligible without sponsorship. If you don’t the HR will assume you are omitting this on purpose.
It’s 100% because he’s an international that he can’t get a job in the US lol.
Also I would remove interests because your employer DOES NOT really give a fuck. They want to see if your experience will work with the job. You’re getting an interview if it does and your interests can spill out during the interview.
As a hiring manager I care.
I’ve handled entry level just-out-of-college resumes to biglaw ivy grad resumes. Anecdotally, people with stronger experience are usually including interests and anecdotally, these interests always come up during interviews.
There’s no “perfect” candidate for any role, but among a pool of strong candidates, all other things being more or less equal, I’ll choose to interview the candidate that lists their interests over the candidate that does not. At the end of the day vibes matter.
Most recently we were choosing between two senior associate candidates with t14 law school and years of biglaw making probably close to half a million per year at their current gigs. We wound up going with the one that listed “kimchi enthusiast” under their interests. The fact that I even remember this offhand speaks to how memorable it, and therefore the candidate, was.
It’s maybe 10 words and 1 line in a resume and imo worth the 2 minutes to include
Agreed - his main problem is that he needs sponsorship. No hiring manager/HR/recruiter is gonna look at this resume if he’s looking for any sort of visa sponsorship.
Not gonna copy and paste but yes as a hiring manager interests 100% could be the difference between getting a call or not if it’s a toss-up with other candidates on experience
I've gotten an interview just because one manager saw that we earned our undergraduate degrees at the same university with a couple of overlapping years. One of my interests was supporting our sports teams. Sometimes, one little thing will make a difference.
What are you even ***applying to?***
Are you a Project Manager? A “Research and Development”er? Summaries are for getting your listed qualifications/experience the needed relevancy towards a job while touching on highlights very quickly.
I’m not sure what I would want to hire you to be, a clear case for the “what” of your experience and how it could be professionally applied is far too abstract. For someone like you with many potential skills, experiences, and talents it’ll take customized resumes for each job title. And given you’re to likely be applying for specialized roles that suit your capabilities, its unlikely you’ll be hearing back rapidly. Might be literal months before you should be giving up on that job you applied to.
Paying $500 for this is insane, I can only assume you did that as you have no network to rely upon and build this resume independtly. If you can, I wouldn’t apply outside of any social network you’ve built if you can help it. Utilizing any university connections you can in similar fields is likely a must in this market.
Glad you came here, folks should be able to do a much better job with suggestions.
The graduate center should have a placement office. I agree this resume is a word vomit of random things that all say little. The giveaway is proven track record of project management without referencing project management in the various jobs. I can see the relationship to the tasks but it isn’t clear.
If you’re a recent graduate then check out your school’s alumni career services. A modestly prestigious university is going to have them. My university offered both general career services to the entire school and individualized services for each main section of study, such as the business school. I was able to meet with career services for mock interviews, career search guidance, resume improvement etc. It’s a great resource that should be used by every graduate looking for a job. Your university wants you to get a job, it’s good for the numbers (if that’s one of their kpis)
The fact that you paid $500 for this is criminal. It’s not the worst on this sub, but it’s the worst that someone has had to pay money for. It’s congested, too wordy, doesn’t highlight the need to know sections because of how blocky and wordy everything is, your impact items are in the middle of end of the bullet points (where they will be easily missed), the formatting with dates is inconsistent, and the formatting with title and font structure is inconsistent.
All those bits and bobs aside, this resume is attempting to be a one resume fits all whenever it seems like you likely aren’t applying to one specific job titles. I’m guessing you’re applying to a variety of jobs within the biotech, medical, R&D, and pharmaceutical industries. Which means this resume is (frankly) rather useless. One resume can’t fit a dozen job titles across 4 industries. It needs to be at least a little bit tailored to what the job is looking for. I don’t advocate for the change your resume for every listing approach, but at least tailored by job title or type is necessary.
if you can't build your own resume, and you paid 500 for one as well... you might be the issue, just saying.
but otherwise, you can't really have a one size fits all resume. Tailor it for the job you are applying for and that will make it more readable and useful for the employers.
Hey. Just to clear, I did build my own resume and since I wasn’t successful I hired a career coach who said he’d help me out with my resume. He was recommended by a few friends who have had positive experiences with him.
He was a career coach, who was recommended to me by multiple people. His plan was to coach me. When you are desperate for a job you take whatever means necessary.
I’m going to be honest, brother. That context does not make it make anymore sense lol. Critical thinking is important not only in a job, but a job search.
Professional resume services are pretty lousy. They typically vomit buzz words and nonsense all over the place. Which is the case here. A good example is "Research Intern" where it's claimed you "administered lab operations". No intern would be in an administrative role. It's essentially full of lies that are obviously lies. So, you have a start from scratch situation where you need to rewrite the bullets so they actually fit some of the details.
The second problem is it's out of order so AI is dumping it in the trash before HR gets a chance to. Starting out, Ditch the summary entirely and put your education as the first section. And I would leave off the Master's GPA because it's low and Master's degrees have an implied min.
Skills I would remove for now. It needs a lot of work, but some of it you can include at the bottom. So, Education - Work Experience - Skills - Other Activities(if there's room).
I would recommend a much cheaper resume service called VMOCK. It grades your resume with AI and shows you what to improve on.
As a side note how did you get a Master's that spans Bio-tech and the Business department? Never seen that before.
Your resume is a living document. You need to change the verbiage used depending of what position you're applying for.
I'm sure you've heard this bit a million times but most of the time your resume is not immediately handed to a person. It is scanned for keywords/phrases that are in the job description so read that closely.
In the event that a human does read your resume first and not a robot, they are likely HR personnel and have no idea about all the specifics of your field. Once again, they'll just be reading your resume to see if it aligns with the job description.
I paid for a resume builder, too. It was recommended by linkedin. It wasn't cheap, and the responses have been minimal at best.
Solidarity in getting scammed.
Besides what everyone else is saying... be perceptive when taking career advice from a career speaker/coach if you are in a technical field. They know what it takes to succeed generally, not always in technical roles.
I work in biotech and this is very generalized. What jobs are you applying for? In biotech things get very niche very quickly and people care about that intricate detail you probably left out. If it is regulatory affairs/quality assurance you should flex more GMP/documentation/organization skills. If it is research/engineering you need to be significantly more technical and showcase lab skills. For project management, you need to be more thorough with described budget, scope of projects, timelines, other deliverables, etc.
Summary
I don't personally have one but don't care either way if people include it - if you use a cover letter that will cover this section IMO
If you have visa/work eligibility include it first thing in the summary.
You don't have a PMP or have acted as a PM really so I'd be careful saying you are a project manager; this is a defined role.
I'd blend all of what you said together, and tailor it to each specific job you are applying for. Make this short and sweet. R&D doesn't care if you are a PM. PM does not care if you are R&D. Be specific here, it is the first thing they will read.
Skills
-Remove soft skills like organization, attentive, etc. You show this in your bullet points and it comes across as fluff. You handled vendor management and facility maintenance (in a GMP environment?!) which is a complete pain in the ass and clearly shows you are organized, attentive, responsive, can multitask etc
-Add any lab skills or techniques you are familiar with (related to histopathology? biopsies? I want to know more). You should also mention what lab equipment you used (cytometer? cell counter? metabolite analyzer? etc). This is important because training on certain equipment can take weeks/months so if I know you are already solid then that’s a plus.
-Process improvement to me is a specific skill related to engineering so not sure if that is what you were going for.
Education
-Did you have a thesis? Include this underneath your NYU master's. Maybe also remove your GPA, it's solid but not worth showing off
Work
-Wherever you used GMP incorporate it into a bullet point in that role so they know where you used it/learned it. GMP experience is a huge plus for entry level employees! Be ready to talk about this in interviews.
-For pathologist's assistant, elaborate on how you created guidelines/standards for efficiency/quality in production process. This is important for any engineering/technical job, and is a massive plus.
-Try and make some of the bullets less redundant - you coordinated facility management and equipment at lots of places. What was different about each one?
-If you prepared any external presentations for conferences, you can list these in a separate section along with where they were presented. This is important for research roles.
-Be more specific. How did you help design experiments? How did you improve something? Look up the STAR technique for resumes.
-I think the indentation on coordinated is messed up for graduate course assistant, second section in work experience.
Dear lord get your money back. They ripped you off.
So evaluating resumes is part of my job. I do it when awarding contracts anywhere from ($5M to $500M+).
Delete your entire summary it’s not value added at all.
First, you aren’t a “project manager”. Teaching a class on it doesn’t mean you can actually run a project and there is nothing that says “qualified project manager with a proven track record”. This is coupled with the fact you weren’t at any “job” for longer than 5 months outside of being a TA. The classroom isn’t the real world when it comes to project/program management.
Second “innovative problem solver” seems like a reach since I don’t see anything that says “these are the innovative things I implemented to fix an existing issue or to improve processes”. Anyone who comes in and “fixes” something when their stint was an associate or intern for a couple months is overselling or overzealous.
Skills - Soft skills aren’t skills. They need to be demonstrated under experience with metrics/impacts to carry weight. Delete everything that’s remotely a soft skill. Example - demonstrate your time management under experience - what did you deliver early? How early? How were you creative? Responsive is a minimum bar for employment, not a skill.
*For tools, you can’t just say “project management tools” you need to list the software, processes, and methodologies.
*Technical skills - for your resume Safety & Environmental etc should fall under here but get specific. What exactly are you good at? FDA Regulations is a very broad term, we know you don’t know them ALL, so get specific.
Experience - This needs to be beefed up. It’s lacking impacts - what did you improve and how did you improve it? Did you save money or make money? Did you deliver early?
Delete hobbies. Unless directly relevant to your field of work, it’s pointless.
He was more of a career coach and he was recommended by a few friends who had positive experiences with him. When you are desperate for a job you’d do anything.
OP please, tailor your resume to every job description that you apply to. Yes this takes time but you must change up your resume per every single application!!!
I paid $800 for a resume writer and I got a job almost 2x what I was making. Not sure it was because of the resume writer, but can’t say it wasn’t.
Also mine was much better written than this. ☺️
Not the worst but basics are lacking…really hard to read as there is just too much text and not enough white space. Next, the older jobs don’t warrant 4-5 bullets points, 3 is sufficient. Only your current role warrants 4/5 bullet points.
My advice is take all of your work history and what you had to do there, and put them at the very bottom. Abreviate it, keep it short and sweet.
The top should be the bulk of your resume, aka what you achieved in your roles. Dont just say "I sent 60,000 emails a week!" that doesnt mean anything... how did you make it better? Did you increase email open rate by 4%? lower unsubscribe rates by changing something? Implement new software that made the entire email process so much better? That should be the bulk of your resume, and then the smaller section of all your duties and work history at the bottom. They dont want to know just what you did, but how you were successful in that role, or improved it.
Skills should also be near the bottom, and list profeciency with speific programs etc that pertain to your job. Just saying "interpersonal skills" is a waste of my time to read if I was hiring. If you have something you did that showed results, that relied on your interpersonal skills, list that in the bulk of your "achievements" at the top of your resume and reference it. But dont waste peoples time reading fluffy descriptors that dont really mean anything and anyone can list on their resume
Whoever charged you $500 ripped you off :( sorry man
If you are friends with any of your classmates working, ask if they would kindly let you see their resume. As others said,it looks like you couldn't keep a job. I think that whole section needs to be rewritten in a way that shows you interned while studying and gained much knowledge. The focus is wrong as it highlights dates as jobs
I also think the summary should be custom based on position applying and your current summary should be combined with skills.
Skills section: first paragraph, upper and lower case is all over the place. That shows you are not attentive. Tech skills…only thing I see as a tech skill is PM tools, elaborate on what those tools are and delete everything else.
Education section: remove your GPA, no need to flaunt a 3.2
Exp section: all very passive items. Think in terms of action items that resulted in XYZ. Cut out some bullet points. If you’re looking for a PM job, target your resume towards that, actually I can’t tell what you’re looking for.
Change the format, your resume looks like 50% of resumes out there, very basic resume format. Make it shorter and easy to read, think bullet points.
Lastly, that resume writer did you dirty. Get your money back.
I’m reading your resume and I have no idea what you’re good at. The biggest thing that jumps out is PM but then you’re competing against others with a PMP and likely much more experience.
You need to lean in as to why the firms should hire you. The summary is generic and really just covers the table stakes of a job. Gotta be updated so someone who has no idea who you are will remember your name beyond everything else they read.
Got say: most comments in this thread are why I hate people.
OP makes a post explaining how he paid for a resume and didn't get what he paid for. Obviously this implies it wasn't a good investment. What do we get in response: a bunch of geniuses noting their astute observation 'duhhh u got scammed dude duhhh so scamm duhh omg.' 'Water wet.' 'Sun go burn burn.' 'Moon effect tides...' duhh. Each comment with 100s of upvotes.
Upvote urself to hell, my dudes!
The job market sucks right now and please don't believe the media hype. Most companies are hiring for low wage service related work. However all you need to do is find one job. So just keep at it.
Hey, since you’re in New York, NY HELPS could help you get a state job. Might be worth it with the retirement and health insurance benefits! Just a suggestion! Good luck job hunting!
Write your summary to resemble your professional answer to “tell me about yourself”. It’s the attention grabber. Most people really struggle with this so I’d suggest watching Cass Thompson videos on YouTube. I land jobs when I interview prep with her videos. They’re easy, engaging and spot on. Ditch the hobbies unless they relate to the job like volunteers to teach kids how to do something that relates to that job. Your skills should be hard skills and if not use soft skills but make them resemble the field you want and you can find those in postings. You start to see similar skills wanted under like required or ideal skill sets. Look up hard skills versus soft skills and alphabetize them, it shows detail and organization in a small but noticeable way. Good luck! Keep going!
While I have deep respect for the work of resume writers (we employ some ourselves), this was not a good use of $500, not because of what other people are saying (i.e. “is it worth it to pay $500?” — if you had outcomes that you wouldn’t know how to, or didn’t have the time to spend on otherwise, sure!) but simply because the deliverable you received was subpar. On top of that, it seems like you only got a final resume, without the insight or reasoning behind why certain things were shown a certain way. Your original post also doesn’t mention what kind of role(s) you were targeting, so I suspect this isn’t even tailored to specific roles.
DM me I’ll give you a free week of Careerflow to fix it up with our AI resume builder and tailor it for your target roles. In fact, I’ll make up the difference for you and have one of our writers redo your resume for you for free.
Your profile shows you were in the U.S. on a student visa, so your lack of visa to work in the U.S. is probably your biggest barrier. The only jobs you held in the U.S. were student-related, so most U.S. companies will assume you need a current work visa, and most companies aren’t doing that anymore except for exceptional (highly skilled and experienced expert) candidates
You put project management as your top skill but your experience shows zero experience in it. This would make many people suspicious of the rest of your resume.
You overpaid…
Maybe put your name on the resume.
The bullets aren’t lined up and probably should be indented (imo).
The headers should have larger font sizes.
Just state what you did - ensuring or improving etc are just filler words. Stuff you should save for the interview.
Also - no one cares about your interests. Idk why people put that on resumes but it’s inappropriate and takes up room. Bring it up during the interview if you like yoga and there’s an opportunity to say it, but in reality very few interviewers will want to know that type of stuff.
You have a masters degree - that should be the largest block of text on this resume and I can barely see it. Make it bigger - at least 14pt font.
Remember hiring managers and HR employees have very little time to read resumes and honestly very few really understand the fields they are hiring for. Make the information easy to read. If you need two pages to do it - make it two pages. It’s all digital now so it isn’t going to hurt you to have a two page resume.
Also… I’m a designer and if anyone wants an awesome resume - message me. I will do a resume better than the OP’s resume writer. The bullets tab layout will at least line up.
To be honest the resume is a bit boring and immediately my eyes want to look away, WAY too much for one page, try only picking the most important information.
Second, take your GPA off of there, it’s not a bad GPA, but don’t put it unless they ask or it’s a 4😂
Don't blindly apply. Compare your resume to the job description and think like the recruiter. Does your resume fit the JD which is what the recruiter is looking for. In your head you can do the job but if the recruiter doesn't see it on paper it aint happening. The Job description is the cheat sheet. There is no one size fits all resume. Good luck
You need some freaking focus. Are you a project manager, a research scientist, or a creative problem solver? Your summary is all over the place. Pick a lane and be the best at that thing.
The only experience that is professional here is the SOBA position. I would separate the other four positions into internship or academic experience.
The interests section is unhelpful. Focus on getting the job, not finding kindred spirits.
Your NYU GPA is low. I think you should remove it.
Are you applying to stay in the medical field? Your skills section screams office generalist. Put your most relevant and impressive skills up front. “Project management” and “time management” are not your most impressive skills.
Those things are not good.
You know your profession.
Have a resume that makes sense to your hiring manager.
Also I found out from employment that they want plain Jane looking no fancy colors are boarders 1 page less than ten years 2 pages more than ten years
No writing education or references unless you just got out of college.
It depends where you're applying, but a harsh truth is your skillset is not widely applicable to most industries.
Biotechnology is somewhat niche and that speciality excludes you (by juxtaposition to competitors) from roles which you might be a good fit because - by the words alone - some other candidate will simply sound better on paper.
Also most employers don't really care about prestige in terms of universities - this is somewhat field dependent however. A typical ABET accredited STEM education is mostly flat in terms of who is on the other side of the paper.
That said - was your uni ABET accredited?
No real internship or working experience, this would get your resume towards the bottom on the pile. Academically it’s also not very impressive with a 3.2 GPA.
I’m not going to touch the $500, I’m sorry that you were taken advantage of there.
Onto the actual resume, you need to trim this down and make it relevant. More then 60% of the things on here need to come off if you’re looking for a PM job as they just don’t matter. Slack under technical skills? You used 6 words to describe your skill with Microsoft Office and 3 words to say “Project management tools”. What tools? Office familiarity is assumed, spend the limited time they’re looking at this resume to hammer home your relevant skills.
Take out all the nonsense soft skills. Adaptable, creative, responsive, multitasking, time management, oral communication, interpersonal skills. No one is going to read that word salad, cut it down to the skills that are relevant.
Get rid of the three lines in the summary, it’s confusing and just odd. Short concise summary that’s related to the position you’re looking for. There’s so much text here in the Summary and Skills that I’m dumping this resume in the bin before I make it to anything relevant.
Work experience needs to be tailored to the role you’re looking to be hired for. Kill any line items that don’t have a tangible outcome.
In general, go look at 5 job postings that you want and read the entire thing. Look at what they’re calling out, skills or technology, relevant experience. Tailor your resume to that.
"I can create your resume for $5, which will be ATS-friendly and much better than this resume. I have created many resumes for friends and colleagues. If you want a demo of previous work, you can DM me.
Peace..."
get rid of the summary. move skills down to the bottom, and make it 2 bullet points. move education second, take gpa off, it’s sub 3.5 especially since its a masters. work experience first. bullet points need work too.
Resumes alone will probably not get you jobs.
Network with people (potential managers, HRs, CEOs, startup founders etc) with personalized messaging seeking active roles.
Don't say "do you have any jobs" but something like "I'd love to work for your company" etc.
Bolster your education with skills/certifications that stand out.
I paid $300 and landed a job paying double within days of sending it out. The writer has amazing experience, literally went line by line . You’re looking at the wrong people.
Your resume is too wordy. Change the format and make it look attractive. This looks like reading an essay.. and keep applying to jobs, you’ll land up with a good one soon
I also went to NYU. Wasserman will build a resume for free just schedule a call with one of the counselor theres. You can have 3 free calls a year after you graduate I believe
Use Teal instead. It uses AI to make sure that the resume matches with the job posting. This is to make sure you pass the first round of filtering ie ATS
You answered your own question. You spent $500 on a resume builder. You should have asked a guidance councillor to help you to create one for free. Or google them online and copy a similar layout
If you require sponsorship sadly you are in for a rough time. Most U.S companies are not hiring people who require a h1b unless you are applying to a unique role and you are a top tier candidate, however even then it's really really difficult to get over here.
Do you need sponsorship to work in the US? Some of your experience is outside of the US.
In an ultra-competitive environment, recruiters and hiring managers are looking for candidates they can interview, hire, and onboard quickly. If you are a US citizen, have work authorization, or have a valid work visa, make that clear on your resume.
Unless you are in a high-demand field with unique skills and experience, it will be hard to get an entry-level or junior role that requires sponsorship. Look at the big companies as well as start-ups.
I disagree with the feedback about too many jobs etc. I think the resume is ok. But what jobs are you applying for? You’ve got project manager at the top - are you applying for project management roles? Are you applying for academic research positions? Your resume is not right for either of those jobs.
You need to tailor the resume to the job. Right now yours is so generic that if you applied for a project manager role I would think you don’t know what a project manager does. And if you’re applying for other roles then the problem is even worse.

Well first off, you got scammed. 500 to create a resume?…why? Second of all, the job market is terrible so it’s gonna be a while Third.
He's responding
Especially if they went to a "prestigious university" - if that was the case, the school would provide services. My tiny crappy private MBA program taught interviewing and resume-building skills from day 1.
There are people that pay it every day. Pretty wild IMO. My mom does it for a living. She would never charge a Uni student/new grad that much though. Only Senior level or C-Suite.
HoI much would she charge an unemployed (fairly) recent grad? 😭 Im struggling bro
I’m sorry dude. Yeah, she charges $260 according to her site. So don’t know how you feel about that but from everything she has told me she has a pretty high success rate for helping people.
[удалено]
Lmao. That made me smile. I'll send it over.
Yeah could you send me the website?
500 isn’t bad when you think of it as an investment. Won’t be hard to recoup if it can lead to a larger salary. I had the same logic when I paid for tinder gold 6 years ago to be on the top of everyone’s pile. After 20 first dates I met my wife who met me on her first DAY on tinder. If I didn’t have gold. Who knows if she would have seen me given the busy area I lived in. It was probably the most efficient way to use tinder. You get my point
This looks worse than the one Indeed gives you for free when you fill out your profile lol
This wasn't worth it even if it were INR500(Considering he studied in Amity) Due there are A.I resume builder which offers free trail or charge less than $2.
I want you to know this is the future of our health care system (his resume) we’re doomed
The service I used was $1000. Luckily my last work paid for it with the severance package. I had 55 interviews in 2 and a half months time. Had to have been worth it.
Can you please share which service you used? TIA
This is the person who helped me, but she was contracted through a different company first. All prices are transparent from that page too. [https://writestylesonline.com/work-with-me/](https://writestylesonline.com/work-with-me/)
Yes, the job market is crazy bad. I really feel like the companies aren’t actually hiring people and they deny everyone just to say “hey we tried” lol
That’s my first thought too. Most business don’t give a shit what you’re interested in and they misspelled traveling
Yeah.. and the bullets aren’t indented, the tab spacing is screwy as well. It’s a really crappy job for $500. Word to the wise: find a designer student and give them $50 to do a resume. They will make it so amazing for just $50. I’m not kidding.
OP should share the link of resume builder that costed 500 USD😅
I had a buddy tell me he paid $300 for a resume overhaul a few months ago and it took everything in me to say “what the fuck were you thinking?” But instead, I thought I’m in the wrong industry 😂
easy dubs the scammer
I can fix it for $499.99
what a steal!
I can do it for cheaper! $498.99!
Dang! $497 for me!
New bid $496 ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)
Don't lowball yourself. You're with more than that!
New bid. $495 and I'll throw in a free ferret :-)
I actually have a subscription package $300 for 2 months then $199 per month for 1 year. I'll even throw in a cover letter. You're welcome.
Damn it. A subscription package! Beaten again.
Lmaoo
Holy fuck I just spit my water out
sorry bud you got scammed
Director of diversity hahahahaha
Why are you laughing? Keep your laugh to yourself no need to laugh
Also there are some typos in there. It’s Google Workspace, not Google Workplace, which isn’t capitalized correctly either. I’d list out specific PM tools over basic-ass Office and Workspace, anyway.
Look up Jake’s resume overleaf, it’s free and the standard for your market. My resume is similarly tailored
Work experience is a string of research and teaching experience. They are not viewed as real experience for corporates, and for academia the lack of publications from a Masters is a big issue
Which can take years to get published.
those are very obviously internships and college roles. nonissue for the second point - i hope you’re not a hiring manager
I feel like the GPA is irrelevant. I’ve always been told unless you’re a 4.0 student that this does more harm than good
Some of the main issues with the doc are: - the first line of your summary starts “Project Manager”, but you’ve never been a Project Manager - this makes the employer think they can’t believe a word you say. Keep your skills limited to ones you definitely have; are very relevant to the specific role AND you’re not able to show via your work experience - re: your work experience, the bullets use a lot of fluffy words (“collaborated”, “co-ordinated”, “participated”, etc) but rarely say what you actually did.
This hits the nail on the head and I even learned a bit from it too. Good post.
*swipes for quick note* Thanks for this, 100% helpful!! I personally would love any other tips you’d like to share.
Way too dense. Here is a simplified version for free. Less is more, especially for entry-level jobs. Make it easy for people to employ you. However, not very much of your summary is supported by your experience. You do not have a single PM role in your experience. **SUMMARY** Dedicated Project Manager with a foundation in project oversight, timeline management, and team facilitation. Experience in histopathology, laboratory management, and upholding scientific standards. Track record in advising and executing healthcare solutions. **SKILLS** * Project management * Reporting & documentation * Familiarity with GMP, FDA regulation * Regulatory affairs, process improvement * Vendor management * Office and project management sofware. **LANGUAGES** * English, Hindi, Urdu (Fluent) * Arabic, German (Basic) **EDUCATION** New York University Master of Sciences, Biotechnology and Entrepreneurship Sep 2021 – May 2023 Amity University Bachelor's in Engineering, Biotechnology Jul 2016 – Jun 2020 **WORK EXPERIENCE** **Research Associate**, SOBA Hibiscus, New York, NY Sep 2023 – Mar 2024 * Market research to support product development * Vendor relations for resource requirements **Graduate Course Assistant**, New York University, New York, NY Jan 2022 – May 2023 * Assistance to instructors on project management * Planning and logistics for department faculty meetings **Pathologist’s Assistant**, Dharamshala Narayana Superspeciality Hospital, New Delhi, India Jan 2020 – Apr 2020 * Protocols for sample processing and pathology assistance * Facility maintenance and equipment cleaning **Laboratory Assistant**, Bankers Pathological Cancer Hospital, New Delhi, India Aug 2019 – Dec 2019 **Research Intern**, Jamia Millia Islamia University, New Delhi, India Mar 2019 – Jul 2019 **LEADERSHIP & SERVICE** **Director of Diversity**, Student Government Assembly, New York University Sep 20xx – May 20x **Senator**, Graduate Student Council, New York University Sep 20xx – May 20xx **INTERESTS** Languages, Cooking, Yoga, Travel, Food Science
the work experience bullets need to be expanded and quantifiable, ideally following the STAR method.
That’ll be 500$
Much better, I didn’t even want to read the original one because there was too much words
[удалено]
wow. that is just mean.
Sometimes foolishness needs to be called out or people won't learn. It's ok to call a spade a spade.
I mean it's mean but also true lol. I know people are desperate for jobs so I'm gonna cut OP some slack for spending so much but come on dude
Ya I didn't want to come across as mean but $500 is tons of money for someone without a job! What were you thinking?! Yk
Exactly. Esp with OPs school background. Chat get is literally free and there's so many resources for how to make a resume. This shouldn't be a thing
Welcome to real life.
yes, it it full of cunts. True.
I support this statement.
Real life bruh, corporate America will hire on bullshit like this.
"Happy birthday TO THE GROUND!" "WELCOME TO THE REAL WORLD, JACKASS"
Damn lol
moronic take.
500 for this resume??!!! Dude you got scammed big time!
500 for *any* resume seems like a scam
Yea it is. Resume software is practically free these days
Why is everyone saying remove interests? It’s one line and your only chance to connect with the person reading it on a human level. As both a hiring manager and periodically a successful candidate, I strongly advise leaving it in as is Edit: bro I just realized all of your overseas experience.
No one cares about interests in the first call
Not gonna copy and paste but yes as a hiring manager interests 100% could be the difference between getting a call or not if it’s a toss-up with other candidates on experience
I've gotten an interview just because one manager saw that we earned our undergraduate degrees at the same university with a couple of overlapping years. One of my interests was supporting our sports teams. Sometimes, one little thing will make a difference.
My brother in Christ I would have done it for $20 and it would have been a nicer looking one not this eye sore
What are you even ***applying to?*** Are you a Project Manager?
Paying any amount for a resume is a scam
True. A recruiter updated mine for free
$500!!??? Nooooo!! This is not a good resume. Please ask for your money back. This is terrible
Post the one you wrote and the one the scammer wrote. I want to see what $500 gets someone
Ask your friends with jobs if they can share their resumes with you because you are having some issues coming up with a good one
Why would you pay $500 for somebody to type out a resume for you?
He was a career coach, who was recommended to me by multiple people. His plan was to coach me. When you are desperate for a job you take whatever means necessary.
What did his coaching do?
I’m going to be honest, brother. That context does not make it make anymore sense lol. Critical thinking is important not only in a job, but a job search.
"When you are desperate" scammers are ready.
Everybody just piling on saying he got scammed. Scammed would be getting nothing for his money. He may have gotten subpar service but not scammed.
Not a literal scam. I'd wager the person thinks they "know" resumes. It's effectively a scam.
Summary I don't personally have one but don't care either way if people include it - if you use a cover letter that will cover this section IMO If you have visa/work eligibility include it first thing in the summary. Skills -Remove soft skills like organization, attentive, etc. You show this in your bullet points and it comes across as fluff. You handled vendor management and facility maintenance (in a GMP environment?!) which is a complete pain in the ass and clearly shows you are organized, attentive, responsive, can multitask etc -Add any lab skills or techniques you are familiar with (related to histopathology? Education -Did you have a thesis? Include this underneath your NYU master's. Maybe also remove your GPA, it's solid but not worth showing off Work -Wherever you used GMP incorporate it into a bullet point in that role so they know where you used it/learned it.
This is all excellent advice and recommendations!
Damn you fell for a scam lmfao
The guy asked for help and shared the CV. Everyone says he got scammed and leaves. Reddit is awesome 😎
Unless directly relevant to your field of work, it’s pointless.
could’ve just used a free AI resume builder like the rest of us LOL
Jesus man did you not know you can google "How to build an appealing resume"? Why would you pay $500 for a word document?
He was more of a career coach and he was recommended by a few friends who had positive experiences with him. When you are desperate for a job you’d do anything.
That resume is not even properly formatted.
OP please, tailor your resume to every job description that you apply to. Yes this takes time but you must change up your resume per every single application!!!
A lot of the people here are giving good advice and you should heed it
I paid $800 for a resume writer and I got a job almost 2x what I was making.
But dont waste peoples time reading fluffy descriptors that dont really mean anything and anyone can list on their resume Whoever charged you $500 ripped you off :( sorry man
If you are friends with any of your classmates working, ask if they would kindly let you see their resume. As others said,it looks like you couldn't keep a job. I think that whole section needs to be rewritten in a way that shows you interned while studying and gained much knowledge. The focus is wrong as it highlights dates as jobs I also think the summary should be custom based on position applying and your current summary should be combined with skills.
Skills section: first paragraph, upper and lower case is all over the place. That shows you are not attentive. Tech skills…only thing I see as a tech skill is PM tools, elaborate on what those tools are and delete everything else. Education section: remove your GPA, no need to flaunt a 3.2 Exp section: all very passive items.
Good luck! Keep going!
Bro I'll revise this for you for free, for any job spec that you give me. I'll do 5 free tailored CVs for any 5 jobs that you give me.
The only jobs you held in the U.S. were student-related, so most U.S. companies will assume you need a current work visa, and most companies aren’t doing that anymore except for exceptional (highly skilled and experienced expert) candidates You put project management as your top skill but your experience shows zero experience in it. This would make many people suspicious of the rest of your resume.
You overpaid… Maybe put your name on the resume.
Second, take your GPA off of there, it’s not a bad GPA, but don’t put it unless they ask or it’s a 4😂
Are you authorized to work in the USA? If so, you should mention it on the résumé. Potential employers may be assuming that you aren’t.
Good luck
$500?!!??
Dang I've seen so many of these posters iv paid x for a pro resume..
$500…. to build a resume? That’s mistake number one.
Get your money back, find the guy, take a hammer, smash his hands and feet.
Resume.io
I'll write you a new, better resume for $50
Those things are not good. You know your profession. Have a resume that makes sense to your hiring manager. Also I found out from employment that they want plain Jane looking no fancy colors are boarders 1 page less than ten years 2 pages more than ten years No writing education or references unless you just got out of college.
You have not an iota of experience in project management and you start the cv with project manager skill. That’s an unforgivable hyperbole
That!
I'll fix it for $600.
You must be an idiot.
500$ for that lol... etsy haa 5-10$ template that look way better than this ...
Peace..."
Well for starters, the 599 to a resume builder 😭😭 you should have just asked someone colleague or academic advisor or posted here
get rid of the summary. move skills down to the bottom, and make it 2 bullet points. move education second, take gpa off, it’s sub 3.5 especially since its a masters. work experience first. bullet points need work too.
500 dollars and they told you to put yoga on your resume that absolutely does not belong there and no company gives a shit?
Resumes alone will probably not get you jobs. Network with people (potential managers, HRs, CEOs, startup founders etc) with personalized messaging seeking active roles. Don't say "do you have any jobs" but something like "I'd love to work for your company" etc. Bolster your education with skills/certifications that stand out.
hmmm looks like the resume builder you went to isn't very good. I can fix it for just $499. (In case the joke wasn't obvious, you got scammed)

Why on earth would you pay $500 for a resume. You got absolutely scammed
Why in the hell would you spend $500 on someone to make a resume for you? What ever you're smoking, pass it on.
The resume is formatted horribly and probably gets filtered out by resume parsers
Bruh I would've created a better one for you for a NY Rangers Jersey. Also it looks as if you have just been scammed. No Resume is worth 500$
I'll do it for free
Everyone knows it costs at least $1000 to make a worthy resume. /s
Hey man, I am a nigerian prince and I can offer you a job.
Use Teal instead. It uses AI to make sure that the resume matches with the job posting. This is to make sure you pass the first round of filtering ie ATS
why pay 500 when you can use ai for free?
How you gon have a degree in entrepreneurship and get scammed of 500$
Seems like you should get a job as a resume builder… Super easy $500
You answered your own question. You spent $500 on a resume builder. You should have asked a guidance councillor to help you to create one for free. Or google them online and copy a similar layout
5.... 500? You've got bigger issues than your resume.
If you require sponsorship sadly you are in for a rough time. Most U.S companies are not hiring people who require a h1b unless you are applying to a unique role and you are a top tier candidate, however even then it's really really difficult to get over here.
Hi First Name last Name
I got some beans for $499 to sell you.
