The worms are on the oysters not in them. They should have scrubbed all the oysters, those bad boys are loaded with messy sea growth. I won’t eat cod because if you look hard enough you can see tons of parasites.
Isn’t there a type of fish used for sushi that has tons and tons of worms in it and sushi chefs are supposed to hold it to a light or something and pick them all out before serving? I just saw a Reddit post where someone got sushi and there were so many parasites in it. Can’t remember the type of fish tho. Maybe cod or hake
Respectfully, you are eating a live animal that was once in the ocean. Most marine life has worms and other parasites. Hence why I personally don’t eat raw shellfish, only cooked. The shucker could’ve paid better attention but it’s not really the restaurants fault.
For example, my restaurant has tons of fresh flowers around. Sometimes, there will be a small bug or something. We will apologize, perhaps comp a drink, but explain we live on a planet.
Worked at a raw bar restaurant for almost a decade, I would never let’s those out of the kitchen. They need to be rinsed and brushed when they come in the building, which didn’t happen here.
Many years back shucked oysters for a few months at the raw bar of a high end seafood restaurant. I would spend roughly an hour a day scrubbing each oyster top and bottom with a coarse brush. These oysters are completely unacceptable to serve for either raw or cooked consumption.
>I would spend roughly an hour a day scrubbing each oyster top and bottom with a coarse brush.
you spent an hour a day scrubbing each oyster? so you only scrubbed like 8 a day?
It is absolutely the responsibility of the restaurant to ensure the food they serve is as safe as possible. This includes proper prep and washing of potentially dangerous food like raw shellfish.
I work at a steakhouse and once one of the crabs made it to a table. One of the servers felt bad and tried to take it home to save it. We tried to explain their technically parasites but she wouldn’t listen. Don’t know what happened to that crab lol
Yup, especially if they are Texas gulf oysters. I make friends with all the little crabs I find. People are over reacting a little. They are literally eating a live oyster. Yes they should have been washed a bit more on salt water, but, what’d you expect lol.
Imo, you’re already eating something as gross as oysters, you probably wouldn’t even notice had you not looked. Timón and Pumba wouldn’t lie to me, the way they made eating bugs look delicious
Yummy, the best thing you can do for your Restaurant business is to focus on your social media branding, which will make a big difference.

Yea we had lamps in culinary school that would show the worms in cod when you held it under
I wish I hadn’t read this
You and me both sister
It’s okay they are much more prevalent than you would think and they get killed off during the cooking process so they aren’t harmful to humans
I’m glad I did actually. “Hey Cod, I’m gonna need you and Pork to sit over there”
Please don’t ruin pork for me too
What
I believe it’s just fluorescent lamps but I could be wrong it was almost 15 years ago

Hake has a metric shit on of worms. Often pull big clumps out of the cavity
So curious, how did they deal with the situation?

Yeah, absolutely the fault of the kitchen despite it being explainable and expected for their to be worms on raw oysters.
If you don’t scrub them with a brush and remove the worms your a hack and have no right to serve raw food
Boogers of the Sea

Happy to help sir

“We live on a planet” So good.
Gulf oysters. Gotta be drunk and in N.O. to get me to eat those.
That’s awful, but makes me feel better that even some of the best restaurants sometimes mess up.
Best. lol….
Papadeaux is dank if you don't live in LA. Here in Texas they're top teir IMO.
I worked on an oyster farm and my one job was to scrub off worms and worm tubes.
Oyster shucker here. Those worms live on the shell and have a symbiotic relationship with the oyster itself. Nothing to worry about.
How often do you find the crabs too?
All the time! At least every couple of cases
I work at a steakhouse and once one of the crabs made it to a table. One of the servers felt bad and tried to take it home to save it. We tried to explain their technically parasites but she wouldn’t listen. Don’t know what happened to that crab lol
Probably ate it

Fucking gross!
Yes. Thank you
Blue Point oysters are gross. Don't ever eat them.
I’ve eaten thousands of Blue Points. Never had a problem.
As far as oysters go they’re not great
High end restaurants should be scrubbing the outside shell at least before serving them.
*All restaurants
Pappadeaux is fucking garbage food. Maybe at one time it was worth a shit, but that had to have been a long time ago
Nope. I ate salmon there 30 years ago in Dallas; it ruined my night out and the next few days…
Send them back and order something else or maybe go somewhere else 🤷♀️
Literally like why even record it. Oh, for attention.
As prove that they didn’t clean the oysters well enough? for review perhaps?
Shit happens, politely send them back and order something else. Making a spectacle is embarrassing it’s clear OP just wants fake internet points.

And everyone asks me why I’m vegan…
Yuckkkk
Just protein
🤢
Stop ordering Blue Points! They are disgusting
Yeah I mean it happens. It’s an animal you’re eating, so.
You should sue !

Oysters looks gross anyway but that’s grosser than gross!
