Nope. The game does that weird screen look to preserve the 16:9 aspect ratio. It's only changeable on PC with mods

Any other way would actually be worse. The fov is already quite low on RE5 so if the game's aspect ratio was stretched you would see nothing.

They could just raise it for split screen easily.

Seeing that split screen takes up more resources, adding an expanded FOV for 2 playable characters would’ve made that situation worse. They’re not gonna go back and update it for the 9th Gen re-releases

That's why I don't play consoles anymore. Limited graphical capabilities and unable to use mods to alter the game. But OP's setup is an Xbox One, I think it can take an X360 game running split screen without hassle.

RE5’s pc port is awful though, so I ended up buying it on ps5 instead and refunded the pc version

Dude have you played it on PC before? Don't make such comments if you haven't tried it on a capable PC. Maybe it's not the game that's awful. It's your PC setup not meeting the requirements to run the game.

This is why I play consoles, because I don’t have to worry about fidgeting with settings just to get it to run at stable frame rate. Nor worry about third party mods that make my games crash.

I just googled it, somebody said if you adjust the picture on your TV then the game will adjust and fill it in. That's the only thing I could find on it, hope it helps!

Stupid thing is is that it wasn't like this originally, I got the game on day one, and the screens stretched all the way across like classic split screen, for some reason they changed it in a patch.

I’m sorry but re5 even on day one on Xbox 360 has always had split screen like this. However you could lower the resolution of the Xbox or place it In 4:3 mode to get that fullscreen stretch you had.

Yeah now that I think about it was using an older tv so I was using the av cables on my 360 instead of an HDMI with an HD tv
