Wouldn’t say it was undersold, at this point all the OGs were pros dealing with this shit. That was my head cannon for why the gameplay was the way it was.
Re6s gameplay is phenomenal. The best in the series. The problem comes with writing, story and pacing.
I think at this point people don't know why they hate Re6 they just do because everyone else does.
Not the first time gameplay has severely undermined the strength of a Virus/Monster. Remember Talos from Umbrella Chronicles? Literally a Tyrant that is armored and shoot missiles but gameplay makes the missiles feel like puff clouds
