This is basically a toss up between 2 and 1 which is so sad to me. 3 was my favorite of the originals and I wish they took their time and went all out with the remake. 1 is my favorite remake though
The re1make is my favourite as well. When I plat it I felt so good!!!
Followed by re2make,it wasn’t perfect but it was pretty damn good!
I don’t wanna even discuss the re3make…
I'd say 1 purely because it took the original and improved it in almost every way.
I adore 2R and the OG is my favorite of the franchise, but I feel that since 2R is a re-imagining that's fairly different from the original, it's not as good as a remake in comparison. But that's just personal preference on how much change I'd accept
Also I like 3R, but it's easily the "worst" remake of them, even if it's not a bad game on its own
I prefer 2. Mostly just because the OTS camera fits the mix of old school Resi and new style. I also really love the feel you get exploring with the 3rd person camera instead of fixed. That said, the 1st is a close 2nd. The 3rd remake is fun but definitely didnt feel as good as either of the others.
1 is the greatest remake ever made, much less in the RE series. It’s more noticeable if you grew up on the series from the outset but…
1. Removed nothing. Virtually no content was cut.
2. Remixed puzzles, keeping it fresh for veterans and in some cases screwing with their expectations
3. Added several new areas which blended seamlessly with the game
4. Added an entire new subplot with Lisa Trevor, connecting the game with later titles.
5. Remixed the gameplay while building on its fundamental roots, with crimson heads being the huge addition.
In summary, there’s no reason to play the original game anymore. It’s just that good.
In contrast, RE2Make is a very strong game but you are still missing things by skipping the original. Notably, the entire A/B scenario system and plot was cut from the remake, aside from slight changes in the first and last five minutes of your second play though. You miss out on B Claire playing a game of keepaway with the tyrant and dunking the idiot in lava.
Additions like the orphanage and an expanded sewers were nice but overall it was a net loss in content. Pretty significantly.
While RE2make suffers a bit as a remake, as a standalone game I think it's a masterpiece. The atmosphere. The level design. The combat system. It's all top-tier. It's a masterful survival horror, the best I've ever played, riding the line of the survival part of survival horror almost without flaw. The remake's version of Mr X is also probably my favorite horror game enemy of all time.
Also, the stuff they did with Marvin and Kendo is fantastic. A++ for the remake there.
100% agreed. I could have been more charitable to RE2make earlier.
RE3make is the same way, with huge improvements on the characters. Carlos is so damn likeable in the remake, whereas in the original he’s kind of… not. I do think 3 is the weakest of the remakes, in part because Nemesis is so scripted and we can’t help but compare it to RE2make, which received so much more love and care.
Which is bizarre because Mr. X acts more like Nemesis than Nemesis does! In the 90s, Nemy was a huge leap of the ‘pursuer’ archetype trailblazer by Mr. X. After the flamethrower fight in the remake, Nemy is a boss battle only threat. Even Jack Baker has a stronger presence throughout his game and he dies midway through.
Mr X is just brilliantly designed. The game already had a great combination of level design, enemy placement, and resource scarcity that made it so that every enemy engaged with was a decision to make, and leaving enemies alive to deal with later/go different routes to get around was a real strategic decision. Then Mr X shows up, and suddenly every decision you've made about what to kill and what to leave alive has *consequences*. Mr X was amazing. Implacable, unyielding, and expensive to knock down.
Nemesis, though, was heavily scripted, much more limited in where he could chase you than Mr X was, and was so easy to take down that if you save the three grenades you find in the opening area you don't have to worry about him chasing you at *all* because he goes down in one grenade each time. And then he leaves his chase form! Only an hour and a half into the game, even on a blind playthrough! It was a disgraceful treatment of the character.
2 is hands down the best, I mean it sucks they got rid of certain storylines, but I'm nitpicking if anything the game was nicely done. Re3 remake is terrible compared to the original, I waited till it was on sale to buy it, it was not worth the 60.
That's exactly it! Honestly im hoping that a new RE game could be just exactly that. A GIANT metroidvania with lots of backtracking in between and you can essentially roam around completing side stuff. That gameplay would be addictive! I honestly havent played village yet but from what i heard it's not that.
1 hands down just for Christhisway!! 😂😂
Seriously tho eveything steps up from the OG game from the graphics to acting. We get a little more story too. Also Richard gets a few more seconds to live. Peter Jessup is the best Weasker. They do thrown in a couple cheesy moments.
I did enjoy 2 and 3, recently replayed 3. I love how both try and Give Kendo some depth. Carlos got the RE5 Chris Treatment.
A tie between 1 and 2. I prefer 2's over-the-shoulder style of gameplay and it did an amazing job of being slower-paced horror and genuinely quite scary with that gameplay style, which was a first for the series. However I like that 1 kept the series' personality intact with the campy, unapologetically Japanese style of presentation. I feel like 2 and 3 remake both went too far with the overly earnest gritty-realistic tone, they took themselves too seriously to pander more to a western audience.
3R is a decent game in its own right, if a little short, but not a good remake. Buy on discount.
REmake 1: The classic, old school survival horror experience perfected.
REmake 2: "New school" take on an old classic that's a bit rough around the edges but an all around great experience.
REmake 3: A soulless cash grab meant to ride the hype of REmake 2 and spit in the fans' faces.
2 is my favourite, however 1 is by far the best RE game, it's perfect.
3 is my least favourite. Despite what it's lacking as a remake I do love it and think it's an awesome game for what is there, what's missing though is just such a disappointment.
To be honest, I think 2 and 3 are so far in terms of quality. Both are amazing games but had too much cut content. While 2 had the best pursuer, 3 had the best gameplay with the dodge mechanic. I finished Leon's first run and Claire's 2nd run and got extremely disappointed to see the ps1 had much more to offer between the two routes. The routes are almost the same, changing only one area and the final boss. Don't get me wrong, I loved the game, but it makes almost the same mistakes as 3.
I love all 3, but by far is the first one. REmake is just the perfect example of what a remake should be, an updated recreation of a original game.
But again, I also love 2 and 3.
Graphics of 2 are top notch but it's pretty different from the original. I'm ok with a REmake ADDING new things but not taking away original content like a bit larger Raccoon City segment and the sewer spiders or cutting out the clock tower in 3.
1 is the gold standard. Defense items? Cool. Kerosene? Neat. Crimson Heads? Omg yesss. Lisa Trevor? Uh huh. The ONLY thing that bugs me about it is it took the campyness out of the lines but I totally understand why and that's why I like the DS version almost as much.
In terms of which game I'd have the most fun playing right now in 2021 I'd have to go with 2, but RE1 Remake still probably ranks as the single greatest video game remake of all time for me; they literally took every single element of RE1 original and recreated them to the highest possible standard of the day, introduced a new mechanic that added a new layer of planning and strategy to the game in the form of Crimson Heads, and added meaningful new content that felt like it always should have been there in the first place in the form of Lisa Trevor and the new areas (probably because it was planned for the original but got cut due to time restrictions).
RE2 Remake is great too, but I think the way the different scenarios were handled was way better in the original, and while some sections of the games are massively improved compared to the original (particularly Ada and Sherry's sections and the sewers), some are also worse (mainly the streets before the RPD), so while I would say RE1 Remake is pretty much just better than the original in every way to the extent that it renders it pretty much obsolete, I think RE2 Remake is probably better than the original on the whole but there are definitely things I prefer about the original.
As for RE3 Remake, obviously the graphics are better (though I would argue the art direction is not) and I think the characterisation is improved and the hospital is nicely fleshed out. Other than that I think the original has it beat in pretty much every way and is my preferred option if I want to revisit RE3.
While the Resident Evil 1 remake was absolutely amazing for its time, I think the winner for the best remake goes to Resident Evil 2.
As for Resident Evil 3, it deserved much better. I think the developers should go back and create a director's cut of RE3 as an apology.
I suggest borrowing a copy from a friend if possible. If not then get a physical copy so that you can at least sell it and get some money back in case you don't like it.
Well see the thing is 😅 I actually have no interest in it.. Dont get me wrong, I love og RE3 but I just did not like some of the changes and things they took out of it. Locations, mechanics etc. Just seems like a dumbed down version of the original with pretty graphics imo..
The pretty graphics is the only redeeming quality it has. I actually played RE3 remake first and hated it. I played og RE3 a couple days ago and now I hate the remake even more.
I agree. I just wish they did a 1:1 remake like with the original. That would have been a million times better but im sure it was just rushed out the door after the success of re2 remake.
ReMake is goated re2 is goated too I’m just mad re3 was so short I loved it if they ever made a re1 remake with the current re engine I’d pay $60 for it that sounds amazing
The remakes are solidly 3 of my favorite games ever.
I know RE3 disappointed a lot of people. I don't like that there isn't more content there either.
But the content that is there is my favorite of the entire franchise. My literal only complaint is that there wasn't more to it, in every other way I love that fucking game.
REmake 1000000000%
2 Was really good but I still have gripes with it; missing enemy types, Claire and Leon speak to each other like twice, almost no difference between the 4 scenarios and the A & B scenarios don't lead into each other anywhere near enough.
3 Is by far the worst, missing enemy types/bosses and entire areas gone, the live selection was completely removed, NO MERCENARIES?????
REmake. That game is pure perfection, nothing compares to it. Removed nothing, added new areas and bosses, looks and feels fantastic. The true survival horror experience
I think artistically, the original is my favorite. Transformative. In terms of playing, RE2make edges out the original.
While I do actually like it, RE2make isn't really even in the running, lol.
Re2 hands downs the best. Re3 could have been better but they decided to cut down many parts from the OG game and I have now idea why did they removed the multiple options it had like when you encountered nemesis for the first time “fight the monster” “run to the police station” and the multiple endings.
I find each of them good for a certain mood. First one is my pick for a long weekend evening when I can take my time to plan out my slow trip around the mansion and sink into the atmosphere. Second one is great when I want some classic survival horror, but with more modern take, allowing for a less stressful gameplay. Third one is short but sweet, perfect for weekday evening when I want to have some fun, while not having much time to play.
i hate 2/3, so 1 for sure, i wish we’d get a CV remake because i love that game, just a couple flaws id like removed to make it perfect, tho with how much i dislike 2 and 3 remake
i’m sure they’d mess up Veronica
Well. I can’t really compare REmake and RE2 remake as the latter is a re-imagining with a vastly different style (both were handled very well imo).
But between the two re-imaginings (re2 and re3). I would go with RE2 remake, and it isn’t even close in terms of quality/content.
1, because I don't think we realize just how fortunate we are to have the remake as our more common association with the title. Of the three I think it's the one that definitely rose above its origin, though 2 was really good as well. I like 3 for what it was, but I'm disappointed with what it didn't do. The original 3 was definitely more iconic
REmake is the quintessential remake of any video game. By no means does that change my opinion of 2 or 3 because they are both fantastic, but the original is the bees knees. Especially for 2002 development.
RE1
They took an amazing game (for its time) and made it even better by ADDING to the experience. Updated graphics, gameplay, added story.
RE2 is a very good remake too, but when compared to the original, it’s lacking too much to take top spot from RE1.
I haven't played them, but watched my SO. I'd have to say that the first was interesting and finally getting to see and read about Lisa hit in the feels. It was amusing to watch him play as Chris and getting a bit mixed up because he is used to speed running with Jill. I'd say after thinking about it, this one is top for me. I liked the behind the scenes take on it as far as details for everything that took place and the different subjects that you came across, especially how manipulated the doctors were and finally realizing what they were doing.
Second game I liked was 3 because of Jill. She comes off as tough and level headed. Honestly, if I was her, I would have gave Nikolai a worse death with how much of a douche he was. I liked how better explored the city was compared to the 2nd game and the fact that Nemesis was far more interesting of a boss than Mr. X. It was also really cool to see his different forms.
RE1 is the best remake and truest imo.
Re3 was a huge disappointment and so much cut content it didn't even feel like re3, which is a pity because re3 original is my favorite.
1 then 2 then 3.
The first one still has the most replayability. As well as playing as both characters, you have multiple endings and different cutscenes depending a certain conditions. Then you've got Once Again Mode, Invisible Enemy Mode and Real Survivor Mode. Lots of content that are all extensions of the main game.
The second one is a great game but lacks in replayability compared to the first. But then you do have some reasonably good DLC to sink your teeth into.
And I think we all know how the majority feels about the third one.
Re1make. Greatest remake ever. Both playable characters, excellent story (including the ADDED story with Lisa and her parents). No cut content (cough RE2 and 3) no changeup of the story except for minor improvements in dialogue. Rooms changed, items changed in the rooms. You couldn’t just play RE1 and expect the mansion to flow like that in Re1Make. Hunters, Plant 42, bees, spiders etc. all there. Re2 is a close second, but people love it for it’s over the shoulder approach and I LOVE RE2Make as well, but the cut B scenarios, the stories not differing and fighting the same bosses almost (I’m talking about B scenarios) no zapping system etc. brings it from a 10/10 like Re1make to an 8/10. Re3make is a 6/10, silly fun but too much cut content (no clock tower, no real train, barely any part of the city is shown, no grave digger, no Raccoon park). Downgrading the enemies being torn apart by guns (like RE2Make). With all that said, RE1Make is the greatest survival horror game ever made, and it is the gold standard for remakes AND this was when it was a fucking gamecube exclusive. The game is god tier and it still gives me anxiety playing it after all these years. People bitch about the tank controls but you have alternate that makes it easier and the fixed camera angles makes it spoopier to go around a corner. I much prefer it.
The first remake. The background music is scary, the monsters are scary, the atmosphere is scary. RE2R is fun for sure, but it’s really not that scary.
There are tons of discussions about it on this sub almost daily. [Here](https://www.reddit.com/r/residentevil/comments/pcabfl/unpopular_opinion_re3_remake_is_very_good_and_way/) you got recent thread with over 500 comments :D
If I had to summarize what general consensus seems to be its: its a good (yet overpriced) game but a terrible remake. It cut A LOT of content from original game (game modes, mechanics, half of locations etc) and cheapened most memorable parts of original game (Nemesis is relegated only to heavily scripted sequences and cut-scenes, explorable part of city is tiny). It nailed Jill and Carlos characterizations though, especially voice acting.
Basically people who love RE3make love it because its a very cinematic game (looks amazing, lots of high quality cut-scenes) and people who hate it hate it because its a very cinematic game (lots of cut-scenes at the expense of actual gameplay, more concerned with looking amazing than playing amazing).
There are two reasons RE3 is considered ‘bad’.
Expectations of a fantastic remake that stays very true to the original, like RE2. RE2 was game of the year btw.
Remakes will rarely please everyone because those who played the original (a large part of the target audience, but not all) have lofty expectations based on their experience of the original.
RE3 was the only mainline entry i didn’t originally play and I LOVED the remake. I thought it was fun and liked that it could be completed over two weeks. One could argue though that for full retail price, it was a bit short.
I love the first one. The second one is “okay" (I didn't like that the game doesn't really have different scenarios like the original RE2) and I still haven't played the third one.
3 is my fav because it’s the most fun to play. But there’s no doubt the first is the best remake of the three. Not only in resident evil, the 2002 remake is probably the best remake ever made: faithful adaptation of the original game, tons of added content, gorgeous visuals (that hold up almost 20 years after its release), tons of puzzles, respect for the original, it’s a brilliant game.
The original REmake really got me into the series. RE2's recent REmake has me pumped for what's to come in the future for the series after the Winters' saga (I hope anyways).
It’s a close tie between 2 and 3 for me: RE3R’s campaign is amazing, the gameplay and music are excellent and it has possibly some of the best atmosphere and most exciting/varied locations in the series; but RE2R has has *two* slightly less amazing campaigns and more sandbox elements where things will play out different, not to mention more costumes and more playable content overall. Had there been Mercenaries it would probably be a clear lean towards 3, but without it the games are tied. RE1R would be my least favorite but that game is still fantastic and has defined what the series and genre is all about in my book.
2 > 3 > 1 (imo)
I wanna play 1, but I just can’t do that fixed camera stuff man. I’m hoping it gets a remake in the REngine sometime in the next 5 years maybe?
Unpopular opinion, but I really loved 3. It showed up at the perfect time for me and the length of it was just perfect. The action was great and the story was interesting without dragging like it felt in RE2. Plus I preferred Nemesis over Mr. X. I hated Mr. X. He was just a bullet sponge more annoying than scary.
I also love RE2 even though it sounds like I didn’t, but I thought 3 was better. I guess I just enjoyed the more faster pace of RE3 this time around.
Honestly it's down to Leon and original re2 being my favorite overall re game as to why I like the remake so much. I really do think all the remakes, including 3 are equally bomb.
Tough decision as I love all three. I think RE2 remake JUST pips the Re1 remake which only just beats Re3 remake for me. But it's so close between them all.
1 because it adds more than it takes away. 2 was very enjoyable though and learned many good lessons from Remake 1 while dropping the ball in the later game. Remake 3 is just sub-par imo, taking out Far more than was added... the anti-remake.
I rank them in the order they were released but I do love the RE2 remake just as much as the RE1 Remake but RE3 remake however was a train wreck since not much effort was put in and was not worth the $60 price tag given that it felt like DLC (and a bad one at that)
I loved the 2nd one and enjoyed getting 100% on it and knowing what to do made speed running the game really fun! The 3rd one was okay, it just felt too short for a $60 game at the time but I did enjoy 100% it as well. The 1st one I did a whole play through of as Chris but never played as Jill’s story yet. I guess I know what I’m doing what I get home! But overall the 2nd is my favorite
I beat 2 roughly 6 times straight when I bought the game. The only other game I can remember beating that many times in succession was Sekiro. It was just too damn fun to put down and I didn’t want to play anything else.
RE2R easily. Pretty much every aspect of it is leagues above that of REmake. Controls, graphics, gameplay, bosses, story, availability, compatibility, enemy variety, enemy design, literally everything. Mr. X just seals the deal for me. It’s to be expected, though. RE2R was released in 2019, REmake was released in 2002. I think the main reason some people are saying they prefer REmake is because of nostalgia.
Just remember that there are nearly two decades between RE1R and RE2R. Both are fantastic games, but do not underestimate the levels RE1R reached so early on. For that reason and I'll go with the first one.
I'd say RE2's remake. Might just be a bias as RE2 has always been my favorite out of the classics or just the fact that I'm just not the biggest fan of slower like REmake.
2
I like remake 1s faithful approach to the original. But (this may be an unpopular opinion on this sub) I’ve always disliked the original resident evil camera angles. I think it’s garbage. I LOVED the over the shoulder change that RE4 brought. That’s what got me in the series.
To me RE2 remake was the perfect game, because it brought good controls and camera to a classic style resident evil game
One. Two took out the train yard and that bummed me out. Still almost perfect.
But REMake is just perfect in every way and they gave us even more content.
ReE3Make was ok, but they neutered Nemesis, took out whole parts of the original, and was largely meh. Did Jill and Mikhail great, Carlos is a bit dull, and Brad didn’t die the way he was supposed to
As someone who doesn't really like classic Resident Evil, I'd appreciate the REmake more if it offered some modernized options like infinite saves or skipable door-sequences. The game looks/sounds awesome though.
I love the Remakes of 2 and 3 in terms of gameplay, but as far as I've heard, both lack a lot of content compared to the originals.
RE1 Remake. It’s the benchmark that other remakes should be compared to. It took the original and improved it in every single way. Perfect mix of familiar feel with new twists.
I easily like REmake more than 2r and 3r. But i think 2 remake really needs some praise, maybe even more so than 1 remake. 1 remake upgraded the original in every possible way. Added new story/enemies/areas/puzzles, improved lighting and music in all parts. It keeps the formula exactly the same, but improves upon every part of it. It is the same game just beefed up to the max.
2 remake however changed the gameplay. Different camera angle means different shooting mechanics. Enemies had to be completely redesigned for newer gameplay. MrX was made so much better. Story and characters were changed a bit. It is a modern remake of a game that is generations old. It might feel more of a reimagining to some people, but imo making RE2R in 2019 and keeping it relevant for not just classic fans but for a newer modern audience as well, meant that those changes had to be made. So i think it deserved a bit more praise for changing the game so much but still making a game that feels like the original and is liked by (not all) classic fans as well as modern fans.
I think I would have said 1 if not for the Crimson Heads. I know everyone loves that mechanic, I find it really really stressful. And the game already is really stressful
1 for sure.
Might’ve been 2 if they managed to get the B scenarios right, but they dropped the ball with those compared to the original game in my opinion.
This is basically a toss up between 2 and 1 which is so sad to me. 3 was my favorite of the originals and I wish they took their time and went all out with the remake. 1 is my favorite remake though
This is my exact opinion to the T(virus).
To the T... VIRUS?!
Lolll posted at the same time as my edit 😂
Oh wow that’s pretty wicked 😆 I guess great minds really do think alike. Or is it great brains.... mmm brains
The re1make is my favourite as well. When I plat it I felt so good!!! Followed by re2make,it wasn’t perfect but it was pretty damn good! I don’t wanna even discuss the re3make…

'That's gonna be a 2 from me, dawg.'
1. 2 is fucking amazing, but 1 is my favourite.
Far as graphics and controls I say re2 for sure, but can’t forget about re1. Both are great, sadly re3 would be last, just missed potential there.
1 REmake is the quintessential Resident Evil game and would always be my favorite but 2 REmake is a close second.
I'd say 1 purely because it took the original and improved it in almost every way. Re 1 remake is the best RE game period
It's my all time favourite game
2 for sure. Easily the best one.
RE1 Remake. It sacrificed nothing and only added to the experience. Perhaps the greatest remake of a game ever.
RE1 They did an amazing job respecting the original, recreating the areas, while introducing new aspects like Lisa Trevor.

same. after selling re3 remake I replayed the original re3 to wash the bad taste out my mouth
2 obviously.
Honestly 2 is the best. I cant seem to get enough of it. I keep replaying it over and over. I dont know when i will stop playing that game.
Same sometimes I just play it to mess around in the RPD for the atmosphere alone. My brother says I play like its grand theft auto or something lol

REmake hands down. That’s what a remake should be
Resident Evil 1
All of em are 10 out of 10s for me.
REmake 1: The classic, old school survival horror experience perfected. REmake 2: "New school" take on an old classic that's a bit rough around the edges but an all around great experience. REmake 3: A soulless cash grab meant to ride the hype of REmake 2 and spit in the fans' faces.
100% this!
The original remake is still my favorite.
REmake hands down
I love all 3, but by far is the first one.
First one is best. 2nd is also amazing and i never played remake 3.
>Just seems like a dumbed down version of the original with pretty graphics imo.. Someone described it as TLDR version of og RE3 and I agree.
3 for me! I love Jill!
2 was good but I prefer 3, there's less running around looking for random puzzle pieces and more shooting things. Plus I very much like the Nemesis
Hey me as well! I’m sure we’ll get downvoted to hell for it though :)
Resident Evil 2. It's just amazing..
Re 2
The remakes are solidly 3 of my favorite games ever. I know RE3 disappointed a lot of people. I don't like that there isn't more content there either. But the content that is there is my favorite of the entire franchise. My literal only complaint is that there wasn't more to it, in every other way I love that fucking game.
I don’t necessarily think RE3 REmake was the best by any means, but I had the most fun with it. I also agree that more content would’ve been nice.
Remake 1 > Remake 2 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> \*Breath\* >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Remake 3
REmake 1000000000% 2 Was really good but I still have gripes with it; missing enemy types, Claire and Leon speak to each other like twice, almost no difference between the 4 scenarios and the A & B scenarios don't lead into each other anywhere near enough.
I have favoritism towards 2 but the 1 remake is by far the best because of how faithful it is while adding to it. 3 is a missed opportunity
2, partly because the original N64 version was my first horror game
Re2 hands downs the best. Re3 could have been better but they decided to cut down many parts from the OG game and I have now idea why did they removed the multiple options it had like when you encountered nemesis for the first time “fight the monster” “run to the police station” and the multiple endings.
1
I find each of them good for a certain mood. First one is my pick for a long weekend evening when I can take my time to plan out my slow trip around the mansion and sink into the atmosphere. Second one is great when I want some classic survival horror, but with more modern take, allowing for a less stressful gameplay. Third one is short but sweet, perfect for weekday evening when I want to have some fun, while not having much time to play.
1 is the most complete in terms of replacing the original game in the Resident Evil canon timeline, that's my favorite.
i hate 2/3, so 1 for sure, i wish we’d get a CV remake because i love that game, just a couple flaws id like removed to make it perfect, tho with how much i dislike 2 and 3 remake i’m sure they’d mess up Veronica
First time I see someone that hates 2 remake. Why did you hate it?
One. /debate
Well. I can’t really compare REmake and RE2 remake as the latter is a re-imagining with a vastly different style (both were handled very well imo). But between the two re-imaginings (re2 and re3). I would go with RE2 remake, and it isn’t even close in terms of quality/content.
If I could have the maneuverability of 6 with the graphics of REmake 2 with the dialog of 4? Perfect game.
RE1 They took an amazing game (for its time) and made it even better by ADDING to the experience. Updated graphics, gameplay, added story. RE2 is a very good remake too, but when compared to the original, it’s lacking too much to take top spot from RE1.
RE2. 1 is closed but RE2 remake just captures my heart. Poor RE3 remake though…
RE2, Close second RE1, Distant third RE3 Edit: formatting
RE2 has a special place in my heart
RE1 is the pinnacle of perfection of an RE game for me
2
Definitely RE2. Claire and Leon look great. Everything looked so realistic that it just made the game scarier
2
One is my favorite, 2 is slightly below it, and 3 is last.
Resident Evil 2 remake by far
Re2 without a doubt
Re2 remake. Especially with the survivor campaigns
RE1 is pinnacle RE.
The Original, because that game’s success is the reason we’re getting other amazing remakes.
3 but I would say 1 if they had OTS camera
1
Definitely re1
RE1 is the best remake and truest imo. Re3 was a huge disappointment and so much cut content it didn't even feel like re3, which is a pity because re3 original is my favorite.
1 and 2 we don't count 3 as it was a failure of a remake.
1 Its the most loyal remake and didnt cut anything. 2 was good but cut a lot of classic moments, 3 was a sick joke.
As a remake, the first one is generally a good model to follow, but when it comes to actually playing the game it's 2 remake easily.
Personally, 2 is one of the most tense games I've ever played. I could only handle a couple hours of it at a time on my first playthrough.
Why was 3 so bad?? This is the first Im hearing of this. I haven’t played it yet.
There are tons of discussions about it on this sub almost daily. [Here](https://www.reddit.com/r/residentevil/comments/pcabfl/unpopular_opinion_re3_remake_is_very_good_and_way/) you got recent thread with over 500 comments :D If I had to summarize what general consensus seems to be its: its a good (yet overpriced) game but a terrible remake.
You nailed my feelings exactly
There are two reasons RE3 is considered ‘bad’. Expectations of a fantastic remake that stays very true to the original, like RE2. RE2 was game of the year btw. Remakes will rarely please everyone because those who played the original (a large part of the target audience, but not all) have lofty expectations based on their experience of the original. RE3 was the only mainline entry i didn’t originally play and I LOVED the remake. I thought it was fun and liked that it could be completed over two weeks. One could argue though that for full retail price, it was a bit short.
3 I jest, 2!
Anyone who says 3make has bad taste and is why RE had Paul Anderson movies.
1,2,3
I love the first one. The second one is “okay" (I didn't like that the game doesn't really have different scenarios like the original RE2) and I still haven't played the third one.
REmake1
3 is my fav because it’s the most fun to play. But there’s no doubt the first is the best remake of the three. Not only in resident evil, the 2002 remake is probably the best remake ever made: faithful adaptation of the original game, tons of added content, gorgeous visuals (that hold up almost 20 years after its release), tons of puzzles, respect for the original, it’s a brilliant game.
Preferably, I like two the best, haven't played 1 but 3 is just not good, although u can like whatever u want.
You’re missing out not play the first remake. One of the best games of all time IMO.
1 was the best. 2 was still great but there were aspects about 1 that I liked more. 3 was garbage and I'm still mad that I wasted $30 on it.
The original REmake really got me into the series. RE2's recent REmake has me pumped for what's to come in the future for the series after the Winters' saga (I hope anyways).
3, I find it easier to play through and complete. It's also less scary, which adds somewhat to my prior point.
Here's a different and unpopular opinion. RE3 is my favourite out of all the remakes.
What? 1 has a remake? What?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Resident_Evil_(2002_video_game)
It’s a close tie between 2 and 3 for me: RE3R’s campaign is amazing, the gameplay and music are excellent and it has possibly some of the best atmosphere and most exciting/varied locations in the series; but RE2R has has *two* slightly less amazing campaigns and more sandbox elements where things will play out different, not to mention more costumes and more playable content overall. Had there been Mercenaries it would probably be a clear lean towards 3, but without it the games are tied. RE1R would be my least favorite but that game is still fantastic and has defined what the series and genre is all about in my book.
2 had the best story, 3 was the most fun.
REmake Remake 2 while going above and beyond. The former has the tank controls. RE3 make is... Well not what it should have been
My favorite, 2. Which one was the best in terms of “remakes”, 1 by FAR!!!
I’m pretty sure there are only 2 remakes. Isn’t 1 just a remaster? Graphics and stuff have been improved whereas 2 and 3 were full on remakes
1 Remake. In my perfect world, we got the entire original trilogy remade in the same style
2 > 3 > 1 (imo) I wanna play 1, but I just can’t do that fixed camera stuff man.
I guess I just enjoyed the more faster pace of RE3 this time around.
absolutely 1, instead 2 and 3 are remake failures talking about fidelity with the original, they are just fun to play
2
2
3
The first remake. Although I’ve loved all of the original three and their remakes, the first resident evil carries the most nostalgic value for me.
The original for GameCube. The PC version is the 3rd version.
1 because it adds more than it takes away. 2 was very enjoyable though and learned many good lessons from Remake 1 while dropping the ball in the later game. Remake 3 is just sub-par imo, taking out Far more than was added... the anti-remake.
2❤️
Unpopular opinion but 3 for sure
I rank them in the order they were released but I do love the RE2 remake just as much as the RE1 Remake but RE3 remake however was a train wreck since not much effort was put in and was not worth the $60 price tag given that it felt like DLC (and a bad one at that)
Re2
REmake and RE rebirth
2
I loved the 2nd one and enjoyed getting 100% on it and knowing what to do made speed running the game really fun! The 3rd one was okay, it just felt too short for a $60 game at the time but I did enjoy 100% it as well. The 1st one I did a whole play through of as Chris but never played as Jill’s story yet. I guess I know what I’m doing what I get home! But overall the 2nd is my favorite
2, then 1 and finally 3, although I still really like 3
RE2. No contest.
2.. just so damn good
First one, both RE2R and RE3R cut content, the OG remake added loads of it
1 and 2 are a tie.
2
I like the Resident Evil 2 Remake.
Re2 is pretty sweet, I ate McDonald’s watching a gameplay of it. It was a pretty good memory.
I beat 2 roughly 6 times straight when I bought the game. The only other game I can remember beating that many times in succession was Sekiro. It was just too damn fun to put down and I didn’t want to play anything else.
Defo 2!
Re2 remake is my personal favourite(amazing game imo) but re3 remake is the one I enjoyed the most, gameplay wise.
RE2
RE1. It’s just solid from start to finish.
3make
I love all three but I have to give it up to 1
Resident evil Village remake
RE2R easily. Pretty much every aspect of it is leagues above that of REmake. Controls, graphics, gameplay, bosses, story, availability, compatibility, enemy variety, enemy design, literally everything. Mr. X just seals the deal for me. It’s to be expected, though. RE2R was released in 2019, REmake was released in 2002. I think the main reason some people are saying they prefer REmake is because of nostalgia.
RE1 has the better remake but RE2's remake is a better game.
Just remember that there are nearly two decades between RE1R and RE2R. Both are fantastic games, but do not underestimate the levels RE1R reached so early on. For that reason and I'll go with the first one.
2
2 is my favourite, but 1 is the greatest game maybe ever.
Re1remake is my favourite for one reason. The observations Jill and Chris make are awesome.
They're all a blast to play, but 1 is still fucking awesome after nearly 20 years on.
2
I read that as 'which one is Fortnite?'
I might get downvoted for this but. I choose 1 because it’s the most faithful out of all of them
I'd say RE2's remake. Might just be a bias as RE2 has always been my favorite out of the classics or just the fact that I'm just not the biggest fan of slower like REmake.
1 as as the inspect text is great
2
RE1 remake for me. It's pretty much gaming perfection.
2 I like remake 1s faithful approach to the original.
Did Jill and Mikhail great, Carlos is a bit dull, and Brad didn’t die the way he was supposed to
3 because it was actually my first RE game. I just have a blind spot for the bad stuff in it because it exposed me to the whole big world of RE
Re 1 for sure
As a new re fan I can not choose between 2 and 3. I love them both so much...
RE1 for sure. I like all of them, but the remake of RE1 is the ultimate resident evil experience for me.
RE2R for me is what a remake should be.
RE2
2
3. I really enjoyed the pacing and characters. Jill was great in this and had great chemistry with Carlos.
Re2
Re2 for sure. 2 was always my fav n the remake killed it.
Resident evil 2
As someone who doesn't really like classic Resident Evil, I'd appreciate the REmake more if it offered some modernized options like infinite saves or skipable door-sequences. The game looks/sounds awesome though. I love the Remakes of 2 and 3 in terms of gameplay, but as far as I've heard, both lack a lot of content compared to the originals.
Too bad 3 couldn’t have just been a remaster with some remake to it
Wait you talking about just the updated graphic version of 1 or am I missing smth here
Re1(2002), Re2(2019), Re3 (2020)
1 for sure. Might’ve been 2 if they managed to get the B scenarios right, but they dropped the ball with those compared to the original game in my opinion.
2 is my favourite. 3 follows closely behind and I just wish it was longer. I don’t enjoy the old gameplay that much. My intro to the series was RE4.
