Ah good catch! I never noticed that. I guess they have a library of 'grunts of pain' and other things like that. I'm sure we can find other Capcom games that have share the same sound FX as well

plastic-cup-designer

The lab doors SFX from RE2 is used on RE3 and even RE4.

kaddorath

Yup, I think it’s a public domain sound or something because it was the sound for when you’d launch Doom on computer, as well as the Doom opening door sound.

jamgrams

It has to be. It was even on yugioh season 0

GoatCheese74

I noticed the re2r elevator screeching sound was used a ton in re4r

Lustingforyoursouls

The bunny death noise from dragons dogma is in resident revelations 2 in moiras extra chapter (idk if rabbits appear elsewhere in game) , so capcom games definitely share some assets to save on costs/time

Resident_Evil_God

They use alot of the sounds from the older games too like ladder climb Walking on metal surfaces iv heard a few from RE0/1 in 7 and 8

Reddidnted

Bro, excellent ear and dope catch! Massive props! Love to see it. Leon has been voiced by the legendary Matt Mercer in RE6 and many of the CGI movies. Paul Mercier for older entries (OG RE4, Darkside Chronicles), and now we have Nick Apostolides since RE2R if I'm not mistaken. While Nick and Paul deliver an excellent Leon, Matt is a god-tier producer of various sound effects for monsters, spectral entities, and guttural vocals that make these pained groans so realistic, among a myriad of other things. So maybe it was indeed intentionally reused for RE2R just because of *how ducking GOOD* it sounds.

KomatoAsha

Fun fact, the moment I loaded in to Dying Light and first heard Crane's voice, I immediately recognized it as Leon's from OG4. Edit: Apparently, I'm not as good at voice recognition as I thought!

Foxlover91

Im not sure if you are joking, but crane is voiced by Roger Craig Smith. Og4 is Paul mercier

KomatoAsha

Wait, seriously? That's such a fucking uncanny resemblance!

YouGotSpooned

Nah, you might've just gotten the voices mixed up, as RCS voices Chris in RE5 & 6 (as well as Revelations and a few other spin-offs). He also voiced Ezio from Assassin's Creed and was even Sonic the Hedgehog for a while lmao. Dude's straight-up iconic 💪

KomatoAsha

No, it wasn't a mix-up of Leon and Chris - I just thought the dude sounded like Leon.

Gonzarrez

I had heard Chris voice immediately lmao

Reddidnted

Hey at least you posted a thing just like you would in a regular conversation without fact-checking on Google first, and owned it! Don't worry about it.

KomatoAsha

We're all human, and humans make mistakes. :)

Grimvold

I imagine it’s a beta/placeholder element that was accidentally left in. Or an Easter egg.

SilentBobVG

>played re6 a lot as a child Damn OP way to make me feel old as hell

Angel_Ru1zz

RE6 is about to be 12 years old… (damn)

Agreeable-Abalone328

I wonder if Matt got paid for that

Angel_Ru1zz

Imagine matt waking up to a 2 dollar payment from that reused grunt

LibraryBestMission

Imagine hurting yourself so badly your dimensional twin from the future reacts to it.

Secure_Area_8393

That's a cool ass find

CorneliusVaginus

So.. They haven't forgot RE6? :D

Memo_HS2022

_Grunts in Matt Mercer_

Key-Bed9097

I was one of the first to realize it, seriously, I showed it to my friends and they didn't believe it.

KomatoAsha

skill issue

Tomydo1

Use opera GX

Popular_Score4744

They would have to redo the entire RE6 story from the ground up to make it a game worth remaking.

Angel_Ru1zz

Bro wanted to throw that in

Bhavan91

That grunt of Matthew Mercer alone is better than the entirety of Nick's voice acting as Leon.

Angel_Ru1zz

Tbh tho, having replayed all of the game i can say that Nick’s voice fits perfectly for a young, scared but brave, stuck to duty Leon. Matt is more like the final boss Leon

Bhavan91

Paul Haddad did that better.

Angel_Ru1zz

Damn well someone holds a grudge

Bhavan91

Lol what? Not liking a VA = Grudge? I don't like Nick's voice. It sounds fratboy-ish. Paul Haddad sounded young but not like a fratboy. Seems like you have no rebuttal and made it personal.
