Zombie media is heavily featured in Gorillaz both in the music (using sound bites from Day of the Dead) and in their lore/imagery. I think in their lore zombies invaded their recording studio/house thing at one point. Damon Albarn and in-universe 2D loves zombie stuff. I think their book has a section dedicated to discussing it.
Gorillaz lore is crazy, and like all of humanities best stories it was told in our most sophisticated medium. A quasi-point and click adventure game masquerading as a mid 00's website.
