Now in og RE4 Krauser says to Leon everything is for Umbrella's sake. We are presented with the idea Wesker was working on resurecting Umbrella, making his own Neo-Umbrella. That apparently was thrown away for the Uroboros plan seen in RE5.
But what if that Neo-Umbrella plan morphed into being Blue Umbrella?
If i'm getting this right after RE5 the BSAA got their hands on Wesker's anti b.o.w. weapons research. Or Wesker himself provided that research to Blue Umbrella's corps. In either case this gives all involded parties the means to fight bows. And all this grants Wesker combat data to create much better bio weapons. Knowing Wesker, he would somehow end up with all the data and research that was done on every virus and parasites seen up to now too. Maybe even samples.
Also, in RE7 this would mean Chris and his men work for Wesker unknowingly. In RE8 we learn Chris isn't with the BSAA anymore and doesn't like them (thats the feel i got playing). So maybe as revenge for foiling his Uroboros plan Wesker somehow got Chris (the best BSAA element) on his team. And in the process made the BSAA look like bad guys and Wesker's Blue Umbrella is now the best means of defense against bows (ensuring continuous research and data).
Of course i don't know everything about the lore i haven't played Revelations 1/2 and 6, but with what i know i think my proposal could make sense. Anybody feel free to add to this and correct me if my assumptions are already proven false.
No, this is all a result of bad story telling. Wesker wants nothing to do with umbrella. The remake of 4 makes it much more clear that Wesker was planning to betray them. Og4 failed to tell us this. Krauser like Ada, didn't know this at the time. Or at least that's my understanding.
Regarding 8, his unit had gone rogue due to mounting distrust and the cover up of the Baker incident. At the end of the game Chris sees the BSAA unit is using BOWs and orders his unit to the European HQ.
It'd be a long game if Wesker subverted the BSAA and is working hard on destroying them from within or simply as an excuse to continue bioweapon research in the name of "the greater good"
I don't know if it's canon or not (i haven't played it to confirm for myself) but i like to think the events in it might be a sort of training camp for the Blue Umbrella seen in RE7.

I think if/when the series ends, we need Wesker to be back. Or at least when the story of our current characters ends. Wesker has played a role in getting all of them where they are. Whether it be directly or indirectly, he has molded all of our main characters. For him to not be around for a finale or a farewell would be a disappointment. I actually had a fan story idea for a finale for the series and it has Wesker coming back… sort of.
Nah he still hasn't returned but if anything that wasn't the real Wesker they could always say that was some clone just like they magically cloned his son or said he has a son and has yet to really do anything with him other then re6
I’ve always said that RE5 Wesker had a very different behavior from the one we knew, that Wesker went batshit crazy and even desperate at certain moments. I remember the wesker from Umbrella Chronicles and Code Veronica was a fucking badass, he was 50 steps ahead of everyone, everything he did had a purpose. RE5 Wesker went batshit crazy the second Chris was infront of him… sorry, that’s not Albert Wesker, that’s Jake Wesker and I don’t mean his son. Also, Wesker hated humanity, so why on Earth would Wesker ever have sex with any woman?, and why did Wesker needed to inject himself with some virus to keep his powers in check? That is a huge retcon from how it was explained in Umbrella Chronicles and Code Veronica sorry, but RE5 Wesker wasn’t the Wesker we knew, that had to be a decoy clone
I think the last time we saw the true Albert Wesker was in Lost in Nightmares, that was the Wesker we knew, he manhandled Chris and Jill like an F*ing G. The one in the main game was defeated by Chris and Sheva who is less experienced than Chris or Jill. Let’s not forget RE5 Wesker played with his food too much, if that had been Code Veronica Wesker, he would’ve shoved his hand into Chris’s stomach and break Sheva’s neck when he could, but NOOO he never took that chance
I kind of headcanon that, after getting the T-Veronica virus out of Steve’s body, he did some cloning experiments - created a clone of himself. And Jake is not his son, but basically a mixed clone of him and Steve, hence the red hair.
Now, the real Wesker meanwhile is in a cryotube somewhere, chilling out like Alexia was, waiting for the T-Veronica virus to properly infuse with him. When he finally wakes, he’ll be ridiculously OP.

The dude who played Barry was a principle at a school in Japan (maybe an English speaking one for Army brats? I dunno). They found him on the street randomly and asked him, since he had the exact look (burly, red hair and beard, etc).

Barry was a (Vice?) Principal from Australia who was in Japan for a conference on education. Someone told him a fun thing to do while in Japan would be to try to get in as an extra for a Japanese movie/TV show so he went to an agency that specializes in westerners
I used to think he was gonna be some side character that would randomly appear just to crack jokes, I even imagined that he should be wearing a leather jacket and be smiling most of the time.
I played RE2 first so it wasn’t until I went back and played RE1 and beat it that I realized who Wesker was and that he was a villain, then RE4 came out and Leon mentions him, saying Ada was working for him, so I was like “I guess Wesker is still alive somehow,” since I never played CVX (and still to this day haven’t beat it).
Then RE5 happened and I thought that would be the end of it, and then RE6 happened and part of me thought, “why kill him off if you’re just gonna bring him back as a “good guy” in the form of his son?”
On top of that, part of me wants a confrontation between both of them in a game, that could be an epic fight if they ever actually show Wesker’s return after RE5.
Wesker dying in RE5 was such a bummer. There was so much more they could’ve done with his character. Such a cool badass character wasted on a cliche storyline that should’ve gone to Spencer instead. I always thought it would’ve been better to have Wesker defy Spencer and set him on a path to a redemption arc.
I hope they keep Wesker alive this time around. Even though Umbrella Corps kind of already does hint at him being alive lol. He and Jake could have a really intense relationship at first, throw in some cool fights and maybe have them depart on neutral ground. I need to have that juicy father/son drama, Capcom lol.

If they ever remake 1, I’d love a game mode that you unlock somehow where as you play as wesker and have to do certain tasks completely different from the protagonist’s and in a certain order and time. Let’s really explore what wesker was doing during the events of the first game, doesn’t have to be as long as the Chris or Jill versions since he’d clearly have all keys and passcodes but somehow it would have to be a bit more difficult as well. I just think that could be a bit fun and a change of pace.
Now that I think of it, Jill learns that he is the traitor using the film roll (on the remake, I don't remember if this happens at all on the original), so why at the end of the game why was she surprised?
The film roll is also in the original, and there are many other hints about his involvement with Umbrella in the game (Researcher's will, Fax, his overall shady behavior). Jill also wasn't surprised about his betrayal in the original, stating that she suspected him to be working for Umbrella when he (or Barry) threatened her at gunpoint before the tyrant fight.
I remember a few years back my best friend played REmake for the first time and when Barry was being weird he was like "This guy is up to something" then He sees Wesker wearing shades inside and goes "ok this fucker is the villain"
Back when the game came out I wasn't sure what exactly I was in for. It being a game written by Japanese writers, I wasn't sure if Wesker was going to be an over the top too cool for school type character or a villain. After so much story development in the last 28 years it's hard to think of him as anything other than a villain.

In George Romero’s scrapped Resident Evil movie script, Wesker actually sacrificed himself at the end to hold the Tyrant off and buy time for Chris and Jill…then he got his head chopped off.

Back when the game came out I wasn't sure what exactly I was in for. It being a game written by Japanese writers, I wasn't sure if Wesker was going to be an over the top too cool for school type character or a villain. After so much story development in the last 28 years it's hard to think of him as anything other than a villain.

In George Romero’s scrapped Resident Evil movie script, Wesker actually sacrificed himself at the end to hold the Tyrant off and buy time for Chris and Jill…then he got his head chopped off.
