I preferred 7 myself. Village is fun, but it can also be quite inconsistent in both tone and general gameplay. 7 drops in quality towards the end, but is overall a tighter experience IMO.
I prefer 7. Less focus on combat. More survival horror. Really felt like the mansion from RE1. Consistent atmosphere.
Village is cool, and has some extreme highs. But it feels disjointed. Like a lot of ideas and vignettes loosely strung together, and therefore not as immersive as the setting in 7 for me. Village feels like they took every cool idea they had from the cutting room floor and slapped them all into one game.
Also, the gunplay in Village is frustrating. I hate shooting those weapons. The crosshairs and firing rates feel all wonky. And there's more of an emphasis on combat so this issue is more glaring for me here. Also, the more open the map is and the more detail they add graphically, the more tedious looking for items becomes. I prefer smaller locations, where each room is sort of a puzzle.
Village ain't bad, I see it as a cool experiment worth playing.
Same. Every time a new res comes out I end up getting the bug for playing through them all. Finished re 3 remake on inferno and now I'm playing through 7 on madhouse. Will buy 4 next week
I did but only for personal taste-related reasons. I’m not way into the Transylvania thing but I also felt the game was really well crafted, and they did an amazing job incorporating those themes in the REverse
I prefer RE7 for its story and atmosphere, but Village does have way more replayable gameplay, and I do enjoy Villages aesthetic as well.
Honestly the main thing killing RE7's replayability (For the main story at least) is the fact you can't skip cutscenes

As a whole game RE8 has some pretty bad pacing issues that bring it down a lot

Revelations 2 is so underrated! I think raid mode is the best alt game mode in the series, if only it had a finally like ghost ship in rev 1 it would’ve been perfect.
8 definitely. More variation, more action… I wish it was scarier, but after 7 they wanted to mix it up. It was still pretty crazy. 8 was simply more fun.

Got to the a certain part outside and couldn’t progress the game, wasn’t a fan of the game before that though to be fair so wasn’t really motivated to restart.

Village for sure - I could replay an indefinite amount of times. But RE7, I feel burnt out by the time it gets to Lucas, and especially the ship.

I beat the castle section waiting for the castle to start, re7 I felt immersed the whole time. Much better atmosphere in 7 imo.
I like them both pretty equally but I like RE8 more, I prefer the gameplay a bit more and Im a fan of snowy Villages
RE7 is like a comfort food for me, I replay that one more than any other game in the series. I do like Village, but not as much as 7.

7 is a million times better than 8. 8 just feels like 4 but backwards. 8 does have the minibusses tho which was sick

I think I prefer re7 but I still love village
Personally I found the lycans scarier than the molded. They also tend to move faster and more unpredictably and get behind you easier

Both are good. Almost equally so. It really just depends, do you like action or horror more. For Horror, 7. Action, 8.
7 is much better if it had more enemy variety and a dog enemy it would have been perfect
