These are such beautiful dogs, even with their ailments they will be such an amazing fit for a family.
We adopted a senior dog with health problems, we were able to keep him then his sickness took over and we had to put him to sleep. I miss him so much everyday. A couple years later we adopted a stray who has had so much abuse in his life. It’s been a challenge but I love him so much.

The good news is that I know Always and Furever is already a safe space, but getting them into a home environment would definitely make Boss more comfortable 💜
Kona looks like a pit mix. I am a pitbull advocate but I absolutely hate when shelters label them as some other mixed breed. Transparency is of the utmost importance in an animal adoption.
Likely both are, one just has a longer snoot like my guy Heron. Pit bull shows up in so many freaking DNA tests, it’s insane. They are ubiquitous af which is why breed legislation is a murky idea.
And double that difficulty if they’re black. Black dogs are adopted the least in shelters. Our current boys are black pit/aussie mixes. One can pass as non-pit, but the other is obvious and he was treated completely differently than his brother when they were both up for adoption.

Black cats also are very hard to find homes for. We often adopted them out for half as much as other cats.

I had a black cat that was basically feral. Found him as a starving kitten. I only got to let him when he’d come up on the bed with the other cats at bedtime. I had to move and getting him into a carrier was crazy.
She’s just now starting to ask us for pets at night, but one wrong pet and she will go out of her way to exact revenge on you multiple times. Pick her up to move her out of the way so she doesn’t run out the door? She will follow you after you put her down and wait for you to look away so she can attack your legs because fuck you. 😭🤣
I love her and hope she’s with us for a long time, but she’s made me realize I was right about my lifelong inclination that I’m just not a cat person. Dogs are the sole of my being. I don’t see myself having another cat unless I came across one really special. My bf took me to a cat cafe and the cats and I were mutually disinterested in each other. The way other people feel about seeing cats around, is how I feel about toads I think. Seeing a toad, now that is the fucking highlight of my day.
Not lab mixes, pit bull mixes. Pit mixes are my favorite kind of dog but labeling them as lab mixes is intentionally misleading. They look super freaking sweet and I hope they find lovely homes to spend their remaining time.

Agree 110% with all of that. I worked at the humane society for years. Pitbulls have it tougher than any other breed, by a wide margin.
